We Worship the Incarnate Christ Not the Bible

It was the Incarnation of the Son of God that was necessary for the salvation of mankind, and not a book. No book is able, nor could it ever have been able to save mankind. Christ is not hte Teacher but precisely the Savior of mankind.  It was necessary to regenerate human nature, which had become decayed through sin, and the beginning of this regeneration was laid by the very Incarnation of the Son of God- not by His teaching, not by the books of the New Testament.

On Approaching the Holy Mysteries with Awe

He never partook of the Holy Mysteries if he had been talking with other people, even though he had not said anything worldly…when he was going to partake of the divine mysteries, he supplicated God with prayers, chanting, and confession of sins. During the service, he was full of fear when the priest intoned the words, “Holy things are for the holy”, For he used to say that the whole church was then filled with the holy angels, and that the King of the celestial powers Himself was invisible celebrating, transfored in our hearts into body and blood…many of the holy fathers saw angels watching over them, and so they maintained silence.

The Importance of Christian Kindness

You cannot be too gentle, too kind. Shun even to appear harsh in your treatment of each other. Joy, radiant joy, streams from the face of him who gives and kindles joy in the heart of him who receives. All condemnation is from the devil. Never condemn each other. We condemn others only because we shun knowing ourselves. When we gaze at our own failings, we see such a swamp that nothing in another can equal it. That is why we turn away, and make much of the faults of others. Instead of condemning others, strive to reach inner peace. Keep silent, refrain from judgment. This will raise you above the deadly arrows of slander, insult and outrage and will shield your glowing hearts against all evil.

With the Blessing of His Eminence, Archbishop Joseph, is scheduled to visit St. Andrew Church this Sunday

On October 6^th 2007, the Miracleworking and Myrrh-streaming Hawaiian Iveron Icon of the Theotokos was found on a bookshelf in Hawaii exuding myrrh. In 2008, the Iveron Icon was officially recognized by the Russian Orthodox Church as miraculous and worthy of veneration. Since that time, this sacred image has visited over 500 Orthodox churches and monasteries in the United States and Canada. It has been a source of numerous miraculous occurrences, including many healings from both physical and spiritual infirmities.
