In the month since I came back from my wedding it’s become much more important that I get book projects I’ve been working on in the background in front of prospective publishers. While the publishing industry as we know it is limping, it’s still going to exist, and I’m going to be part of it in one form or another for the rest of my life. So right now I’m in the process of getting my personal website up, finding a literary agent (I already have a PR person and a potential convention assistant ready) and getting the basics of book proposals in front of people.

Just as I can easily spend eight hours a day in front of this blog, doing the work of writing and revising rough drafts, seeking out professional feedback and finishing a book length work can be just as time consuming.

Also, because we’re in an economic slow down we’re also in a fashion slow down. Not much is dramatically new and while I’ve got a few “I wants” in my fashion list, they’re all geared towards accenting clothing items from previous wardrobe pieces. Nothing in terms of fashion is all that urgent right now – people are still buying replica’s of Aretha Franklin’s inauguration hat, for heaven’s sake. So as far as urgency in style change goes, it’s not, despite the major chains using the made-of-fail tactic of shouting buy! buy! buy! (When I see it, I say bye! and click delete.)

Thanks for bearing with me. I’m not going to give specific dates, as I am pretty involved in my book projects, and blog writing calls on a different section of my brain. I am going to try some different things here again – I’ve decided to ditch affiliate programs, as they do nothing, and I’m also going to go through and really analyze some of the approaches to plus size and the media. I will NOT be watching the Biggest Loser or any fat exploitation TV, but I thought while it’s in its off season a serious analysis of Drop Dead Diva might prove interesting, as well as going back to the “famous fat people in history” discussion. And while we’re at it, maybe talk about what people who market to fat people should call us fat people.

Nothing urgent. All in good time. And in the mean time, you still have the Fat Chic Clothing search to play with.

I’m on my honeymoon in Kauai right now, but in the meantime I thought I’d let you get a gander at the dress, and at my sweetie – the dress is from Fashion Bug and his suit is from Men’s Wearhouse. There are more details that were added to the dress- you can kind of see the floral detail. It was a fun, light-hearted wedding, and I did pick up another fashion item in Vegas that some of you may want to poke at and tell me what you think…

Here’s the deal – I’m out for my wedding and honeymoon. So while I’m out doing that, I thought I’d upload this series of outfit/clothing reviews via Youtube. (If someone can recommend a different video upload service, I’m all ears.) As always, I have the comments and ratings turned off there because I want it to keep to the mainly sane, stable and clueful participants who read Fat Chic. It’s oddly sobering to see myself in these videos, as I’ve had to rethink how I think I look in ways I manage to miss standing before a mirror. I have to admit I was shocked at how bad one item was that I left it out of the video rotation. I’m hoping I can salvage the shirt, but since it demonstrates me having fat rolls in addition to my belly in a powerfully unflattering way, I’m probably going to have to give up the ghost. It’s a shame, because it’s a cute shirt!

So enjoy my exercise in self-awareness, lack thereof, and occasional babbling. Have a wonderful rest of 2009 – and be excellent to each other!
