Russ Steele, Weston Pleinis, Mike Grimm and Kip Lockwood are some familiar names on the top of the leaderboard. Jason Tapley, owner of the Bada Bingers scored 223.35 points and vaulted into 8th place overall. Jason took 3rd overall in the inaugural FFPC Main Event last year, so welcome back to the top of the leaderboard, Jason. And Don Thompson put up 201 points to move all the way up to 7th place.

All bye weeks are now completed except for the Giants and Texans, so most teams will be close to full strength as we enter the stretch run in the FFPC Main Event. With two weeks to go in the regular season, here is our top ten overall:

How did we do in Week 9? Look at all leagues and results.

Recap: Lost in 8 of my 10 leagues (52-37-1 for the year though). But the two I won were my two most important money leagues. Won in the Fantasy Football Players Championship Main Event to go to 7-2 and stay in first place in the Joe Montana League. And won in my local league to keep the trash talking going as I remained #1 there as well. So if I had to pick only two leagues to win-those would be the ones. The FFPC $125 satellite League is a 13 week Total Points league where 6 of the 12 advance to the playoffs. So I am not too concerned about missing those playoffs. The top 2 teams get a bye in week 14 and that is all I need. NOTE currently at 2nd just shy of first place.

Lack of thinking ahead.

2:09 left in the frsthalf of their week 9 matchup.
Ryan Moats rushes left and as he is tackled fumbles on the 2 yard line as he goes out of bounds.
The ball lands in the field of play and a Colt player recovers it but the ref rules otherwise.
Moats walks back to the huddle as if nothing happened and lets the Texans just run the clock down to the 2-minute warning without running another play.
This allows IND to review the play and ask for a coaches challenge which is upheld giving IND and Peyton Manning the ball with 2 minutes to go to the half. Denying HOU a chance at a TD.

A) Moats should have told the team to quickly run another play so no review could occur. He DID NOT THINK AHEAD.

Either Peyton Manning or Drew Brees. Both have led their teams to an undefeated 7-0 start. I give the nod to Peyton because even though Brees has scored more fantasy points (172 to 169), Manning has been more consistent. Peyton has roughly a 23-point FP average with a low of 17 and high of 33. Brees on the other hand has two ten point games and a 40-point game; too much feast or famine for my taste. Winner so far: Peyton Manning and his 2227 yards, 15 TDs and 4 INTs. Honorable mention goes to Brett Favre and his league leading 16 TDs to three INTs while leading Minnesota to a 6-1 record.

Thanks to a strong showing from Tim Hightower, Steven Jackson and Chris Johnson, FFGuidebook.com climbed back into the Top 10 Overall (Out of 228 teams) at the Fantasy Football Players Championship (theFFPC.com).

The three RBs scored 85 points to propel FFGuidebook.com to a 167 point Week 8 finish.

FFPC Week 8 Results
Props to Brett Favre for playing like a champion even at the ago of 40. Love him or hate him, he is one heck of a football player.
His baby must be sleeping through the night as Russ Steele managed to get his team back to the top of the FFPC Main Event Leaderboard in a fairly low scoring fantasy week. Russ holds a less than 3 point advantage over our top scoring team for the week, RFL’ers, owned by Mike Grimm and Jack Guydish. Mike and Jack are getting a little cocky, and figured they could dominate the entire field with just 9 players this week. Way to go, guys! Nimrods checks in at 3rd, and Manny DeJesus and Weston Pleinis are near the top at 4th and 5th respectively.
With three weeks to go in the FFPC Main Event regular season, we have some very tight races. There are six teams within 44 points of each in the Gale Sayers league. The Joe Montana league has 9 teams within 2 games of the lead and 6 of them have records of 4 and 4. League after league has some fierce battles going on for the four playoff spots. The bye weeks are winding down, with just four teams on bye this week and two on bye in week ten. Here's our top ten overall:

Is it just me or is the wait between the end of MNF and the Sunday start driving you crazy?

Every week the wait between the final snap of Monday Night Football and the first kickoff on Sunday at 1 PM EST seems like it is getting longer and longer.......

Anyone else have these same feelings of time stretching endlessly and slowly during the week days?

I need my fantasy football fix in quicker intervals.

I am fully into the season now with position battles in the leagues, player injuries and suspensions making me pull my hair out (what is left of it after Larry Johnsons little surprise).

I cannot wait until Sunday morning comes and football games return me to a calm only fantasy football can bestow.

How do I fill the cravings of more football sooner?

I hate the 6 team Week 8 Byes

PIT, NE, CIN and WAS are critical players lost
TB and KC not so much. (okay maybe Dwayne Bowe)

I was forced to add Bulger to replace Big Ben and Palmer in most of my leagues.
Fingers crossed for a big Rams day passing against the Detroit secondary.

Week 10 has some weak sisters on byes as well.
STL, CLE, OAK and BUF all take a seat but MIN and NYJ are not playing too so AP owners beware!

The remains of Hurricane Neki linger long enough to bring precipitation to Lambeau field. Game time temperatures hover in the high 30’s and snow flurries make this perfect fall football weather for a great match up. Brett Favre is cheered by 45% of the fans; jeered by 45% and 10% will just be there for the moment. Minnesota will try to establish Adrian Peterson and the run with some success. However, Brett will find Visanthe Shiancoe to be his weapon of choice with six catches for 105 yards and two TDs (including one in the 4th quarter to give the Vikes a come from behind win after trailing most of the day). Minnesota gets over their tough loss to Pittsburgh with an even bigger win to division foe GB. Everyone in the media claims before the game that it all has to do with revenge; everyone claims after the game that it had nothing to do with revenge. Only Favre will know. Favre hints in a post-game interview that he might retire next year. Final Score: Vikings 24 Pack 23

FFPC Main Event Week 6 Results

FFPC Main Event Week 6 Results
Eddie Royal scored 2 touchdowns and got 12 FFPC fantasy points and even Darren Sproles (pictured above; I think that's him, lol.) got 6 extra points with FFPC Action scoring. Speaking of action scoring, holy cow, players were going off this week!
It was a high scoring week in fantasy football and if there was ever a week for Manny DeJesus to show us his TDs, this was it. He scored an FFPC record 229.4 fantasy points. Matt Schaub, Ray Rice and Randy Moss powered that fantastic score. Manny is now in first overall. Russ Steele powers his way back into 2nd place, with Kip Lockwood, Mike Grimm and David Hubbard making up the rest of our top 5.
Places 6th-10th got shaken up, as we have some fresh faces. Sam Hendricks and FFGuidebook.com are in 6th, with Jeff Sanok and Alligator Blood moving up to 7th. Both of them scored in the 200 point range last week to make big moves.

Ask the Expert: Which struggling star do you expect to return to greatness

Of all the league's struggling stars -- Matt Forte, Steve Smith, name your own candidate -- which one do you see as most likely to turn things around the rest of the way?

The list is long and distinguished. Some others worthy of contention for the struggling tag include: Tony Romo, C. Portis, B. Westbrook, MB3, B. Edwards
T.O., A. Boldin and Eddie Royal. My turnaround candidate is Clinton Portis. With questions at QB (and Head Coach) Portis may find himself with more opportunities as he tries to carry the team on his shoulders. He is currently 20th for RBs but has started to pull away recently. The remainder of his schedule is medium to tough run defenses. He has the potential for a top 10 finish.

Now that you've seen most of them play some games, which rookie wide receiver do you believe will have the best NFL career? (feel free to name players you haven't seen, e.g. Michael Crabtree)

Since you said career, I think Austin Collie has the brightest future. First his QB is Peyton Manning. Questions-none. He could be Peyton’s Wes Welker. He is not the fastest WR I have ever seen but he seems to always get open. M. Crabtree has to show me something before I put him in this competition.

Do you believe it's OK to bench your studs, or are you against it?

The answer is it DEPENDS.

In 99 out of 100 cases, NO never bench your studs because they are going to perform for you. Whether it is this week or next week, eventually they will produce and you do not want them on your bench when they go off for 30+ fantasy points.

A better question is what defines your “stud”?
Generally any player drafted in the first two or three rounds in my book. They were drafted high because you knew you could count on them.

So when are the rare instances when you do not start the stud player?
1) Injury issues would be one scenario. If he is questionable or doubtful with a significant injury (and not practicing on Friday is a good sign it is significant) then I would think about benching him. Even if he plays he may be limited.

2) Another case is when something beyond his control will affect him-like weather or a week 17 game where he may be rested for the playoffs. Last year Kurt Warner went to play at NE in week 16 during a snow storm. Swirling winds are not good for a passer He should have been benched even though all the predictions were for a big day.

Mark Sanchez cleans nails on NYJ bench in 4th Qtr? Does this bother anyone else?

First let me start by saying I am high on Mark Sanchez as a future QB. I picked him in my annual Fantasy Football Almanac as the highest ranked rookie QB at #5 overall among all rookies at any position. So that is high praise indeed.

Long term, dynatasy league wise, I like Sanchez over Stafford and J Freeman. Sanchez may look like a pretty boy (see recent NY photo ops) but he appeared to me to not forget his family, heritage or work ethic and coaches/players at USC who made him what he is.

Then I saw the NO-NYJ game Sunday evening.

The Jets are down in the 2nd half by a TD and the camera keeps panning to the NYJ sideline. There sitting by himself is Sanchez…….cleaning his nails. (Or at least that is what it looked like to me through my 42” non High Def TV).
Regardless of what he actually was doing (picking his nose, biting his nails, cleaning his nails, checking his finger prints or creating hand puppets with his working digits) he was not doing anything productive to help the JETS win the game. The cameras panned to him on several occassions and every time he seemed to have a far away glaze on his face and no drive to fix the situation.

What could he have been doing instead you ask?

1) He is NOT LOOKING at photos of the opposing defenses that have just stymied him.

2) He is NOT TALKING to WRs or Offensive linemen or coaches to figure out better play execution.

When I see the likes of Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Tom Brady on the sidelines, they always seem to be doing SOMETHING productive. Like looking at photos or talking to teammates.

The JETS were never more then 2 scores behind and were in fact just a TD away during some of these snap shots. To be fair I am sure the camera just caught him at the wrong time each shot and in between he was working feveriously to right the sinking ship.

Sanchez will be fine.
He had a rough game versus a fired up NO defense.

Nevertheless, for the love of all that is true in Football- do something other then pick your nails on the bench between series.

Fantasy Index "Ask the Expert" Question: Which new starting QB has the most value?

Fantasy Index "Ask the Expert" question: Several teams could be starting new quarterbacks on Sunday -- Miami, St. Louis, Cleveland, TB -- or in the next few weeks (SEA, SF, KC, TEN?). Which quarterback situation, if any, has the most fantasy value?

Yesterday I would have said Chad Henne at Miami has the most fantasy value because his competition is out for the season (Dolphins placed Pennington on IR). However, the fins trade for Tyler Thigpen muddies the water some and may shorten the leash Chad gets. If Hasselbeck misses any more time I like Seneca Wallace because of the quality of WRs and more importantly the O-line. Kyle Boller and Derek Anderson lose points because they will be throwing off their back foot all day due to OL issues.
