Chapora fort

Popular for its history chapora fort in goa. It is the prime attraction of goa. It is located about 10 km from mapusa in the village known as chapora. It was built by adil shah rulers of bijapur to defend their territories from their enemies that are portugese. After the reign of adil shah the portugese took over and rebuild it in 1671 it was build for defence of their territories in the face of several attacks by the Marathas. The Portuguese ruled chapora fort for more than 150 years.

Although the fort has lost its glory but tourists do visit the fort to see beautiful panoramic view and to relax. From the fort magnificent views of vagator beach, morjim beach, and chapora jetty can be seen.

GANESH CHATURTHI AT MY PLACE

Ganesh chaturthi in local language in goa is also known as ''chovoth''. It is the most celebrated and important festival of goa. This festival runs into several days, but minimum at least for two and half days. Where the idol of ganesh is brought on previous day of chaturthi in every house of hindu. On the same day a small pandal above the place where the idol is placed is tied which is called as matov. It is prepared by tying all fruits which are grown in that particular season along with mango trees leaves.

On first days of chaturthi all married women fast. On this day ganesh idol is placed on table along with Gouri and Mahadev. Goddess Gouri is drawn on paper and Lord Shiva symbolised by a coconut. The puja of Ganapati goes on until mid-day. The puja is performed with the help of the priest. And at least five differentvegetables are cooked on that day. Each day in afternoon and at night Aartis are specially performance by the local people of that village.

On this joy full occasion of the Ganapati all members of the house comes under one roof n celebrate the festival. All women of the house dance and sing the Fugdi infront of Ganapati On the second day, in the evening or at night, after performing the uttar puja of the idol of Ganapati, it is taken in procession and immersed into a water body be it the sea, river, lake or well. Before the idol is removed from its stand for immersion, prayer is done for the welfare of the household and its members. Some houses keep Ganapati for five, seven or nine days and rarely up to Anant Chaturdashi that is for 21 days.

The bat island is the most beautiful and awesome place to visit in goa. Bat island is also known as pequeno island. It is located just a kilometre away from Baina beach of vasco. The island forms a great surprise for those who seeking adventures. Bat island comprises of small rocky beaches and small stretch of green also some unoccupied houses, a light house and helipad.

The bat island is famous for the snorkelers. This island provides a very interesting stopover along the goan coast and can be reached by a one and half hour ride in to the sea from miramar beach.
