Jerry Hannan Kickstarter - ONE WEEK LEFT!

…AND WE’RE 75% THERE!

February already? I hope your 2012 is off to a great start!

Mine sure is. In the first few days of year, I started recording my new album, “Whistle and Hum” And this is why I’m writing today, to ask if you would like to order a copy in advance, or make other contributions to my fundraising project on Kickstarter.

In case you didn’t know, Kickstarter is a new internet platform to raise money for creative projects. The way it works is:
- I set a target amount (which, in addition to my own money, is enough to complete the project)
- and a deadline (mine is Feb 11)
- then, people (like you) can easily pledge to contribute whatever you want and help make the project a reality
- but it’s all or nothing, contributions are only actually charged when & if the project goals are reached

As of today the project is 75% funded by 63 individual backers. So now, I have 1 week to raise $4950 or more, otherwise I don’t get a dime. I’m betting on the generosity and support of folks like you, and we’re in the final stretch!

My previous albums were less expensive. This time I’m paying for professional studio time & engineers on grander scale to make a grander production, which includes musicians:
Michael Urbano – Drums – (Smashmouth, Sheryl Crow, John Hiatt)
Davey Farragher – Bass – (Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy)
Roger Manning – Hammond B3 – (Beck).
…and some great local players like Danny Uz, Jon Korty, Chris Haugen and Erik Schramm
11 Original Songs and it’s gonna be good!

There are some cool gifts to choose from at different pledge levels, from a sticker, to a t-shirt, to being a credited associate producer on the record! I really appreciate any contribution, and know you’ll be thrilled when we deliver the goods!

Please take a minute to watch the VIDEO and check out the project here:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jerryhannan/recording-an-album-of-original-music

Also, I’ll be at Rancho Nicasio March 17, Saint Patrick’s Day. Hope to see you.

Thanks guys!

New Client : Mimosa

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE MIMOSA STREET TEAM

“23-year-old Tigran Mimosa thrills audiences with his vibration-laden sonic endeavors and charismatic stage presence. His set at this year’s Lightning in a Bottle is the stuff of legend, although he calls playing for a sold out crowd of 10,000 at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre “the most epic moment of my musical career.” Sound: MiMOSA produces hip-hop infused, deep bass dubstep constructed with expertly arranged synth-crunch layers that build to explosive moments of sonic boom.
-Huffington Post

“It’s hard to tell where exactly a MiMOSA track is going to take you; Tigran does some non-traditional things when it comes to syncopation and mixed meter, and at Zoo this year, he mixed up his heavier, grimy bass beats with interjections of top-40 in unusual ways.” - 5 Acts to Watch: Flavorpill

“I’m not sure he belongs in the dubstep genre, because I’m not sure he belongs in any genre. He doesn’t follow the normal rules of music. One question: “Does it have enough bass to rattle your brain around inside your skull? Good.” Of course” -Earmilk

Blissfully unconcerned with a world obsessed with categorization as a means of definition, Tigran aka MiM0SA crafts music for its own sake, defying expectations with genre bending soundscapes. Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area and currently residing in Los Angeles, MiM0SA began producing at the tender age of 17. Blessed with an abundance of talent and an ear for sonic experimentation, this fan-favorite has quickly developed a name for himself as one of the West Coast’s top exports. And the word is spreading fast. To say that MiM0SA is on the rise is to miss the mark. Rather, MiM0SA has arrived.

This summer saw MiM0SA globetrotting from festival sites everywhere—including his headlining slot and Lightning in a Bottle, to triumphant performances at Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Shambhala festival, Red Rocks, Electric Zoo, Summer Camp, and Burning Man. MiM0SA also spent quite a bit of time this summer in the lab with Sleepyhead, working on new tracks for their highly anticipated collaboration, “Naked Poetry,” which they will release under the moniker SexyTime at the beginning of 2012. However, it was in Brooklyn, NY where MiM0SA found refuge as he wrote, recorded, and produced his debut full length album “Sanctuary,” released October 25 on False Idol Musik. After just one listen, it’s evident that his versatility as an artist goes hand in hand with his refusal to be tied down by any particular sound or style.

White his previous EP release, “58 Degrees,” favored a more grittier fusion of unrelenting beats and grime, “Sanctuary” works as one cohesive whole piece of work that finds MiM0SA immersed in rhythm, encompassing and centered around the 808 drum kit most notable on the track “Last Night In Town.” However, the album carries an authenticity by which MiM0SA’s aesthetic appreciation of the origin of sound is fused with layers of various styles, textures, and grooves that embrace Dubstep, Hip-Hop, 2-step, Moombahton, Dub, and Downtempo. It becomes apparent that while building this collage, his vision was to “Steer away from aggressive tones, but at the same time try to find different avenues to get the same crowd response that a big bass drop would get,” he comments. Take for instance “Castles in the Sky,” which finds MiM0SA opting for the classic sounds of straight dub reggae versus the dub step infused subwoofer odysseys heard on “Tiger Blood.” MiM0SA extends his flavor for hip-hop by sampling and filtering vocals that rush with ambient interludes coupled with pulsating tempos and heavy 808s on songs such as “Starseed” and “Way Back to You.”

In just a few short years he’s shared the stage with standard-bearers like Benga, Skream, Rusko, Datsik, Glitch Mob, Pretty Lights, and Flying Lotus. He’s also played festivals and shows across North America, including Coachella, Symbiosis Gathering, Burning Man, Decibel Festival, and Red Rocks Amphitheatre. This past March found him headlining his first tour, as he criss-crossed the U.S., selling out major venues like The House of Blues (Chicago, IL), Webster Hall (New York, NY), and The Fillmore Auditorium (Denver, CO). Not to mention stellar debut performances at legendary venues such as Newport Music Hall (Columbus, OH) and The Fillmore Miami Beach. The words tireless and prolific don’t quite do MiM0SA justice. In one weekend he headlined Lightning in a Bottle, blasted over to Summer Camp, and finished off the weekend with a blistering performance at Detroit Electronic Music Festival.

We’ll say it again, because it bears repeating, MiM0SA has arrived.

New Team : Nicki Bluhm

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE NICKI BLUHM STREET TEAM

Upon hearing the unique and refreshing sound of Nicki Bluhm, it becomes immediately clear why she is in the midst of a breakout year. Nicki has filled a void in music with her brand of vintage-tinged rocking country soul—music that’s like an enchanting friend you’ve known for a short while but feels like you’ve known forever.

Nicki’s story began at a New Year’s Eve party when she sang an impromptu blues song that caught the attention of musician/producer Tim Bluhm (The Mother Hips). With Tim’s encouragement Nicki began to write songs and perform in public, and soon was earning fans of her own. They went on to record Nicki’s debut album, Toby’s Song (2008), which appeared on Jambase’s top ten albums of the year. Nicki and Tim were married shortly after and formed her band with childhood friend and guitar player, Deren Ney. The band continued to grow with the addition of Steve Adams on bass (ALO), Dave Mulligan on rhythm guitar and drummer Mike Curry. Nicki has since shared the stage with Chris Robinson, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Steve Kimock, Jackie Greene, Pegi Young, Josh Ritter, and many others.

Her sophomore album, Driftwood (2011), shows an impressive expansion of Nicki’s natural talent and is well into its second pressing. The sounds range from the AM magic of Linda Ronstadt to the charming duets of Johnny and June Cash to smokey Memphis soul. Since Driftwood’s release, Nicki has become the “It Girl” of the San Francisco music scene—performing with her band, “The Gramblers”; as a duo with her husband Tim; and as a guest artist with an array of revered peformers. Her warm, strong voice and striking presence have undeniable appeal, confirmed by her sensational performances and rousing reception from music lovers at every show. .

The new music documentary “Coals to Newcastle: The New Mastersounds, from Leeds to New Orleans”, chronicling the rise of UK jazz-funk phenomenon, The New Mastersounds, is now exclusively available at the iTunes store.

Based in Leeds, UK, The New Mastersounds tour non-stop across the globe, spreading their authentic raw combination of jazz-funk at major festivals including Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Fuji Rock in Japan, and at incredible venues from the islands of Greece to Red Rocks Ampitheater in Denver, Colorado.

The film not only features live performances during the band’s first trip to the United States, but also takes a deep look into the lasting impact their trip to New Orleans’ Jazzfest, just months after Hurricane Katrina, had on both them and their music.

In a world experiencing times of conflict, this film offers a fresh optimistic perspective of extraordinary British talent honoring roots of American music and following their passion. As Peter Shand, bass player, is quoted in the film, “I think the world needs a bit of soul right now…”

Directed by filmmakers Marca Hagenstad & Aaron Dunsay, and distributed by Go Digital, the documentary has been screened in fifteen festivals in five countries. It’s world premiere was the first documentary to hold the coveted Opening Night screening at the Sonoma International Film Festival, and it received the Top Prize at the 2011 Cinema on the Bayou Film Festival in Louisiana.

NMS drummer Simon Allen humorously comments, “Coals to Newcastle doesn’t just represent an amazing achievement in independent documentary making - somehow it also made our band appear really interesting and likeable…”

About Aaron Dunsay and Marca Hagenstad: Aaron earned a degree in Film Studies from the University of Pittsburgh in 1999, and Marca Hagenstad studied film at the Documentary Cinema Institute in Denver and together created Colfax Productions in 2004.
