There are four phases of rescue and relief whenever a disaster occurs.
First is the rescue operation, secondly comes the relief operation, after that comes the rehabilitation process and after that comes the reconstruction process. Pakistan army has helped in providing the ultimate help and rescue after the current floods in history south-east Asia. The rescue and relief operation by Pakistan army has now entered the second process which is relief process.

Due the current floods in Pakistan, the children, women and men are suffering due to drinking muddy flood waters because all the pure streams and channels of water are contaminated due to floods. Thus due to these floods the Pakistan needs hundred of dollars to overcome the problems and diseases which are making hurdles in the relief operations.

Providing pure water is one of the basic necessity of life in wake of rescue and relief operations to prevent diseases.I may pronounce here that the nations should join hands to promote the delivery of clean pure water to every child in this world and specially in flood affected areas of the world.

When the calamity like floods or earthquake or hurricanes occurs, even the country like USA also needs assistance to properly promote rescue and relief operations.

Pakistan is no match to USA because it has a one legged democracy which is facing problems because people of Pakistan have tried all its leaders and now the time has come that (we) the people don't trust our governments because they have no crystal clear plans. But the rest of the world should not look into this scenario but they should support all the internally displaced persons (IDPs) on humanitarian basis apart from ethnic, demographic, geographic or other cultural differences because we are all human beings.

(CNN) -- Your husband, an avid gamer and techie, dies of a heart attack, leaving his vast online life -- one you don't know much about -- in limbo.

Eternal Space lets loved ones create customized online gravesites and memorial pages.

His accounts, to which you don't know the passwords, go idle. His e-mails go unanswered, his online multiplayer games go on without him and bidders on his eBay items don't know why they can't get an answer from the seller.

Web site domains that he has purchased, some of which are now worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, will expire, and you may never know.

It's a scenario that's becoming more likely as we spend more of our lives online. And it's raising more questions about what happens to our online lives after we log off for the final time.

The answer, until recently, was nothing.

But now, as online usage increases and social-media sites soar in popularity, more companies are popping up to try and fill that void created in your digital life after death.

Jeremy Toeman, founder of the site Legacy Locker, recognized that when he was on a plane and wondered what would happen to his online life if it crashed. While his will leaves everything to his wife, including all of his digital assets, Toeman realized how difficult it would be for her to access his accounts.

"My GoDaddy account would belong to her, but it doesn't solve the practical reality of how she would get access to it," he said. He experienced a similar scenario after his grandmother died, and he tried to get the password for her e-mail account -- only to give up because of the hassle.

So Toeman built his company to change all that. Legacy Locker allows users to set up a kind of online will, with beneficiaries that would receive the customer's account information and passwords after they die.

"We know it's a hard thing to think about -- to get people to face mortality. We know it's kind of morbid, but for those who live their entire lives online, it's also very real."

A Legacy Locker account costs $29.99 a year. Users can set up their accounts to specify who gets access to their posthumous online information, along with "legacy letters," or messages, that can be sent to loved ones.

If someone contacts Legacy Locker to report a client's death, the service will send the customer four e-mails in 48 hours. If there's no response, Legacy Locker will then contact the people the client listed as verifiers in the event of his or her death. Even then, the service would not release digital assets without examining a copy of the customer's death certificate, Toeman said.

Eddie Lopez is the kind of tech-savvy guy for which a service such as Legacy Locker was made. The St. Paul, Minnesota, man has three online banking accounts, a PayPal account, domain names, Web-hosting accounts, multiple e-mail addresses and many social-networking accounts.

"I do think this is something people should be really considering these days," Lopez told CNN when asked about services such as Legacy Locker. He wants to hire a service to handle his digital assets but is concerned about privacy.

"Although I'm glad there's people breaking ground in this area, I don't think I would jump at the first opportunity to sign up," Lopez said. "My concerns are turning over such an exhaustive list of user names and passwords to a single business. That's one-stop shopping for any hacker to get access to just about every detail of my life."

Lopez would prefer to entrust half of his digital-security information to a service such as Legacy Locker and the other half to family members, so that each side's information would be useless without the other's.

"I hope Legacy Locker and similar services can address these privacy-security concerns with some real-world solutions," he said. "I just don't feel comfortable turning over my digital life -- built over 15 years -- to a kind promise."

Legacy Locker isn't the only new company helping techies plan for death in the digital age.

AssetLock (formerly YouDeparted.com) offers a "secure safe deposit box" for digital copies of documents, wishes, letters and e-mails. Deathswitch and Slightly Morbid also offer similar services in a variety of prices and packages, depending on how many accounts are involved.

Not all of these services deal with online assets. There's also a growing trend towards giving all aspects of death -- the grieving process, the funeral, the memorial and even the grave site -- a digital makeover.

FindaGrave.com claims to have cemetery records for 32 million people in its searchable database, while EternalSpace.com offers a new spin on the traditional grave site by offering virtual memorial pages full of videos, pictures and tributes.

On Eternal Space, loved ones can choose from different headstones and bucolic landscape backgrounds -- the mountain lake is a popular option -- to create a customized online grave site. Loved ones can add "tribute gifts" such as roses, candles, stuffed animals and other items, while mourners can access photos and videos in a "Memory Book" and leave remembrances of their own.

Jay Goss, president of Eternal Space president, is trying to bring the funeral experience to anyone who can access the Web. In that way, he hopes to provide a gathering place, and a voice, for mourners who may not be able to attend the real-life memorial service.

"It'd be the equivalent of a funeral where everyone can attend and everyone can spend 30 minutes behind the podium," Goss said. "It gives everyone a chance to put a 360-degree wrapper on the life the person lived and celebrate that life from how every person knew them."

Eternal Space's virtual memorial sites are currently only being offered through select funeral homes, cemeteries and crematoriums. Goss' hope is that the site will help allow the deceased's memory to be "eternally" passed on.

"All of these stories and videos are being left, in essence, to this Eternal Space Web site so that everyone can share, not just that day, not the days after, but the weeks after and years after," he said.

Some funeral-industry professionals believe these online memorials and virtual grave sites provide a valuable service.

"Assuming the site is handled with respect, virtual memorials respond to a basic human need to remember our deceased family, friends and colleagues," said Robert M. Fells, general counsel for the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association.

"Based on our members' feedback, I'd have to say that virtual memorial sites are gaining popularity with the public as a very practical alternative to being present at the grave site," he added. "There's nothing 'weird' about them as far as we have seen."

"There are funeral homes out there that will help families create virtual memorials, but ... we've also seen Facebook and MySpace profiles of deceased persons being turned into memorials," agreed Jessica Koth, spokesperson for the National Funeral Directors Association. "Consumers have become increasingly comfortable with expressing their grief online."

"While not a replacement for a funeral, online memorialization can help people work through their grief after the funeral," she added. "We've all become accustomed to communicating and expressing ourselves electronically -- via e-mail, Facebook, Twitter. Expressing one's grief online is an outgrowth of what's happening in other areas of our lives."

Operation in Swat intensified: ISPR

ISLAMABAD: The operation in Swat and adjoining areas was intensified and nearly 200 militants and two security personnel were killed in clashes on Saturday and Sunday, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations.

Indiscriminate mortar firing and improvised explosive devices planted on streets and roads by terrorists in populated areas of Thana, Malakand and Mingora caused civilian casualties, said the ISPR.

In Swat, suspected locations of militants were attacked in Kanju, Mingora, Venaibaba, Namal, Qambar, Peochar, Fizagath, Tiligram and Chamtalai areas and 50 to 60 militants were killed.

Security forces urged citizens to remain vigilant and said that the terrorists had planted explosive devices in various areas of Mingora and Swat to put the blame of civilian deaths on security forces.

There are reports that militants destroyed two schools one in Barikot and the other in Maniar.

Terrorist activities continued in Swat where Zahid Khan, Imam of a mosque at Nishtar Chowk was killed.

Military authorities said that they had secured a large area in Shangla up to Biladram and advancing troops detected IEDs on the Chamtalai bridge where an intense exchange of fire took place.

In Shangla, security forces resumed operation from the important heights of 2,245 and 2,266 which had been captured on Saturday and secured the area up to Shalwal Kandao. One soldier died during the operation.

Troops found a number of bodies of militants and weapons left by them near Ramotai Loe Sar.

One soldier who was injured on May 8, died during evacuation.

The ISPR said a training camp of militants in Banai Baba was destroyed and 140 to 150 militants were killed. Troops secured the Shangla Top.

The Shangla DCO confirmed that 140 to 150 terrorists had been killed. In Dir, troops secured the area from Kala Dag to Haya Sarai and during a clash with militants at Musa Jan and Sarai Kot, five militants were killed and one soldier was injured.

In a separate incident, militants kidnapped a reporter of a private TV channel from Chakdara.

Military authorities said that ground forces continued to consolidate positions on Gulabad heights and the area between Chakdara Bridge at Landakai had been secured by ground forces. Troops detected and defused three IEDs.

The militants suffered heavy casualties when helicopters attacked their hideouts in Barwada Char, destroying six bunkers and two ammunition dumps.

Troops secured the ridges around Sultanwas and the militants there were surrounded, the ISPR claimed.

The militants resumed their activities in South Waziristan and on Saturday night attacked a security forces convoy in Spin area South of Tanai.

During the ensuing clash 18 militants and an officer, Capt Muneeb, were killed and two soldiers were injured.

Later, the militants fled the area leaving behind bodies of their men. One injured militant was arrested.

PESHAWAR: Taliban militants have completed their pullout from Buner, a district just 60 miles from Islamabad, and troops have fanned out in their wake, a senior official said Saturday.

The Taliban's retreat to their stronghold in the Swat Valley brings some relief for Pakistani officials trying to salvage a controversial peace deal that halted nearly two years of bloody fighting in the northwestern region.

Militants from Swat seized Buner, a jumble of mountains and farmsteads on the west bank of the Indus River, after President Asif Ali Zardari earlier this month signed the peace pact for Malakand, which provides for the introduction of Islamic law in the region.

The Taliban began pulling out on Friday as officials issued increasingly loud threats of military action and Sufi Mohammad, who mediated the peace deal, intervened to defuse the tension.

Syed Mohammad Javed, the top government official in Malakand Division, which includes Swat and Buner, said Saturday that all the militants had crossed the mountains passes into Swat.

‘They all have gone back,’ Javed told The Associated Press. ‘No one is left in Buner.’

He also said that six platoons of paramilitary troops had deployed to police stations across Buner.

‘If police need their help, they will assist them in maintaining law and order,’ Javed said.

Javed said Sufi Mohammad had also given his assurance that militants would soon retreat to Swat from another neighbouring area, Shangla.

A senior police official in Buner, Rasheed Khan, said that around 300 Taliban left the region but that local Taliban elements remained in the area despite the deployment of Frontier Constabulary (FC) reinforcements.

‘There are some 250-300 troops deployed at different checkpoints in Buner,’ Khan told AFP.

The main Taliban spokesman in the area confirmed that all those who arrived in Buner from Swat had returned.

‘I do not know the exact number of my men who left the area but they all boarded in 15 vehicles to return to Swat,’ Muslim Khan said.

He also confirmed that local Taliban members from Buner are still present in the area but did not disclose their number.

LAHORE: The arrival of Maulana Aziz after release on bail coincides with the appearance of militant motivational literature and propaganda videos in front of Lal Masjid, according to DawnNews.

As Interior Ministry informed the National Assembly that publication and distribution of hate literature<>banned, militant videos and pamphlets professing jihad were being sold openly just a few kilometers from there out side the Lal Masjid.

However, just outside the mosque, Saeed, a video seller told DawnNews ‘Now that Maulana Aziz has been restored, all activities will return.

The motivational militant videos being sold outside the Lal Masjid include scenes from battles of Iraq and Afghanistan showing the attacks on US led coalition forces.

The jihadi films being sold in the heart of the capital shows videos of suicide bombers, and incite others to join in the fight.

In one of the videos, young boys are shown being launched as suicide bombers covered in glory, aiming at motivating young impressionable minds to follow them.

Some of the videos being sold outside the Lal Mosque are brought in from other areas, including the tribal agencies while others are made in local markets.

With the release of Maulana Aziz on bail, it was hoped things will be different from the past. But, the very act of selling militant videos resonated with scenes before the military action against Lal Masjid clerics in July 2007 when militant literature was being sold openly in a similar manner.

"In the days when you couldn't count on a public toilet facility, an

English woman was planning a trip to India. She was registered to stay
in a small guest house owned by the local schoolmaster. She was
concerned as to whether the guest house contained a WC. In England, as
you know, a bathroom is commonly called a WC which stands for
"Water Closet". She wrote to the schoolmaster inquiring of the facilities about
the WC.

The school master, not fluent in English, asked the local priest if he
knew the meaning of WC. Together they pondered possible meanings of the
letters and concluded that the lady wanted to know if there was a
" Wayside Chapel " (Place where Celebrations are done especially like a
beautiful garden) near the house . . . a bathroom never entered their
minds.

So the schoolmaster wrote the following reply:

Dear Madam,
I take great pleasure in informing you that the WC is located 9 miles
from the house. It is located in the middle of a grove of pine trees,
surrounded by lovely grounds. It is capable of holding 229 people and is
open on Sundays and Thursdays. As there are many people expected in the
summer months, I suggest you arrive early. There is, however, plenty of
standing room. This is an unfortunate situation especially if you are in
the habit of going regularly. It may be of some interest to you that my
daughter was married in the WC as it was there that she met her husband.
It was a wonderful event. There were 10 people in every seat. It was
wonderful to see the expressions on their faces. We can take photos in
different angle.
My wife, sadly, has been ill and unable to go recently. It has been
almost a year since she went last, which pains her greatly.
You will be pleased to know that many people bring their lunch and make
a day of it. Others prefer to wait till the last minute and arrive just
in time. I would recommend Your Ladyship plan to go on a Thursday as
there is an organ accompaniment. The acoustics are excellent and even
the most delicate sounds can be heard everywhere.
The newest addition is a bell which rings every time a person enters. We
are holding a bazaar to provide plush seats for all since many feel it
is long needed. I look forward to escorting you there myself and seating
you in a place where you can be seen by all.

Pak troops eliminated

KOHAT: The country’s security apparatus suffered a devastating blow on Saturday when a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a military checkpost in Hangu, eliminating 23 soldiers.

Seven policemen, ten security personnel and nine civilians were injured in the blast.

‘A suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into our check-post close to a police station in Doaba,’ a security official said. ‘We suffered the most casualties.’

Some officials said the bomber had rammed his vehicle into a Thall-bound military convoy in Doaba, on Hangu-Parachinar highway.

They said 11 vehicles, which were part of the convoy, had been destroyed in the attack, which happened not far from the army camp. The military, however, denied its convoy had been hit.

Eyewitnesses said security forces cordoned off the area and blocked the Kohat-Parachinar highway at Doaba and nobody was allowed to go near the scene of the explosion.

The army called its own bomb disposal squad from Thall Garrison. The check-post was located on the Hangu-Parachinar road, which remained closed for more than a year when militants blocked the artery to stop food and fuel supplies from reaching Parachinar, the Kurram Agency’s headquarters.

In another incident earlier on Saturday morning, one person was killed and three were injured in a blast in Malikabad area of Hangu bazaar.

The SHO of Doaba police station, Ammal Khan, and constable Asal Murad, who were sitting in a mobile van close to the army camp, were injured.

Police said the bomber had used 100kg of explosives. They blamed the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan for the strike, but the banned militant outfit did not claim responsibility for the bombing.

The dead and the seriously injured were taken to the civil hospital in Hangu and the Combined Military Hospital in Thall, a police spokesman for the Kohat region said.

Preliminary reports suggested that the suicide bomber had come to the area on Friday and took up residence in Hangu. ‘It was in the knowledge of the terrorists that a convoy would pass through the camp on Saturday afternoon,’ a local said.

Hangu has seen bloodletting bred by sectarianism over the past two years. A total of 48 people had died in sectarian clashes during Muharram last year.

The military had carried out a major clean-up operation in Doaba in August last year to flush out militants who had infiltrated from nearby Kurram and Orakzai regions.

Helicopter gunships have been attacking suspected militant hideouts in Orakzai during the last couple of weeks. ‘Most of the casualties are security forces and some policemen have also been killed,’ a security official said.

‘The bomber was driving a pick-up truck which he rammed into a convoy passing by a security checkpost,’ senior police officer Fareed Khan said in Kohat.

President Asif Ali Zardari, who is in China attending an international economic conference, ‘condemned the attack and vowed to root out terrorism and extremism from the country’, the presidency said in a statement.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani ‘strongly condemned’ the incident, describing the suicide attack as ‘a cowardly act of terrorism’, his office said in a statement.

Causes and Effects of World Economic Recession

"In the post 9/11 world, the most prevalent trend with much far-reaching implications, is the world economic downturn. It is noteworthy that the factors responsible for it are still not being controlled, or even properly understood. The aspects of recession range from decreased consumer spending by individuals and companies, static wage rates, downsizing that decreases the production base, to other, more complex and interrelated issues.

If we are to discuss falling household income, it may be indirectly attributed to an increase in population and bad utilization of resources. Resource utilization in itself is a science, causes being not just an inability to reach resources, but also the incapacity to extract optimum advantage due to lack of technology/skill where resources may even be abundant and accessible. The worst type of resource utilization failure is probably the inability to use or develop human resources, and thus forms the basis for other resource related fiascoes.

In terms of natural resources, we are at a loss thanks to natural disasters like earthquakes, hurricanes, and floods. Human activities such as deforestation, air and noise pollution, and global warming, all result in a shabby geophysical environment and stressed human resource, apart from the more obvious consequence that the natural environment which forms the backdrop of all economic activity, is itself becoming less productive.

One direct effect of a stressed natural environment is the scarcity or shortage of resources. The shortage in turn increases the costs of production. In developing countries like Pakistan, severe electricity breakdown across the country accounts for the higher costs of economic activity. On contrary, in developed countries, increasing food prices and decreasing investments account for the greater impact of costs. As a result of mounting costs of production, including the cost of logistics, downsizing is commonly on scene. The result of such downsizing is an overall increase in unemployment, decrease in consumer spending, and decrease in savings – all pointers to a recessive economy.

Raw materials in the form of copper, aluminum, minerals and livestock from developing countries are no more in demand by the developed world due to recession. For instance, mounting costs have closed down textile factories in the UK. Cotton and cotton thread, mostly imported from Pakistan and India, are no longer in demand. And the garments already in production are being traded cheaper because of weak purchasing power. Another telling sign is the price of a barrel of crude oil, which started falling to $88 since October 2008, causing deflation. The era of inflation is inevitably transforming into the cycle of deflation.

Sanctions imposed by developed economies on weaker ones may also have played a hand in the recession of the world economy. These economies, for the preservation of capital and wealth formation, restricted weaker economies in international trade. This is visible in terms of stricter visa policies, lower export quotas, lower import substitution, barriers for indigenous production, barriers to alternative energy development and conservation, and barriers to the exchange of labor.

In context of the diminishing trade between America, Europe and the Far East, statistics of international business suggest that companies of Europe and Japan like BMW, Unilever, Toyota and Sony are facing downturn of their business activities in America where they have plants of production. That might be because of weaker and ever changing US economic policies. China which is emerging as a robust economy and accounts for one third of the world GDP, is also shrugging up because its exports to United States and Europe are becoming extremely volatile.

Foreseeing the impending disastrous effects of this economic downturn, the time has come that developed nations should sit together and keep aside the interests of territorial divisions /jurisdiction and work for common wellbeing across the globe to avoid imminent turmoil or war. A sound strategy based on humanitarian grounds aimed at an equal distribution of international wealth should be implemented forthwith. There should be a dialogue among nations and cultures, based on the concept of Peace through Economic Development, representing an alternative to the ‘clash of civilizations’ paradigm currently being promoted. The important economic issues on world agenda should mainly include the integration of national economies into a real world economy. Efforts should be made to reduce trade barriers to include the agricultural and service sectors of different countries, and to liberalize trade arrangements. Stabilization of currency relationships should be achieved so as to reduce monetary risks in international trade, with the ultimate goal of a unified currency system managed by a common world body. Measures should be taken to develop international law for the regulation of multinational corporations so as to prevent possible abuse of monopoly, exploitation of employees in different countries, and evasion of fair taxation rampant in the third world. International law regulations should also apply to exchange of labor and environmental utilization. A rethink in strategy would be the relieving pill for the deteriorating economic, geophysical and geopolitical world".

Taleban 'kill love affair couple'

The Taleban in Afghanistan have publicly killed a young couple who they said had tried to have an illicit affair, officials say.

The man, 21, and woman, 19, were shot dead on Monday in front of a mosque in the south-western province of Nimroz.

Nimroz is an area where the Taleban have a strong influence.

Governor Ghulam Dastageer Azad told the AFP news agency the killings followed a decree by local religious leaders and were an "insult to Islam".

Dangerous region

Mr Azad said: "An unmarried young boy and an unmarried girl who loved each other and wanted to get married had eloped because their families would not approve the marriage."

Officials said the couple were traced by militants after they tried to go to Iran. They were made to return to their village in Khash Rod district.

"Three Taleban mullahs brought them to the local mosque and they passed a fatwa (religious decree) that they must be killed. They were shot and killed in front of the mosque in public," the governor said.

He said there were some reports that the families of the young couple could have links with the Taleban. The Taleban could not be immediately reached for comment.

Correspondents say that the killings took place in a remote and dangerous region, where the government has no access.

The Taleban ruled Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001 and during that time implemented its austere interpretation of Islamic Sharia law, carrying out public killings and floggings.

Unmarried men and women were forbidden from talking or meeting in public and women were not allowed out of their homes without a male relative. Girls were discouraged from going to school.

Extrajudicial "honour killings" have been widely carried out in Afghanistan since then by conservative families angered by a relative who has brought them shame - usually by refusing to marry a chosen partner.

The Taleban have widened their influence over the past three years and now control many remote districts where there are not enough coalition forces to establish a permanent presence.

Allied Militants Threaten Pakistan’s Populous Heart

DERA GHAZI KHAN, Pakistan — Taliban insurgents are teaming up with local militant groups to make inroads in Punjab, the province that is home to more than half of Pakistanis, reinvigorating an alliance that Pakistani and American authorities say poses a serious risk to the stability of the country.

The deadly assault in March in Lahore, Punjab’s capital, against the Sri Lankan cricket team, and the bombing last fall of the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad, the national capital, were only the most spectacular examples of the joint campaign, they said.

Now police officials, local residents and analysts warn that if the government does not take decisive action, these dusty, impoverished fringes of Punjab could be the next areas facing the insurgency. American intelligence and counterterrorism officials also said they viewed the developments with alarm.

“I don’t think a lot of people understand the gravity of the issue,” said a senior police official in Punjab, who declined to be idenfitied because he was discussing threats to the state. “If you want to destabilize Pakistan, you have to destabilize Punjab.”

As American drone attacks disrupt strongholds of the Taliban and Al Qaeda in the tribal areas, the insurgents are striking deeper into Pakistan — both in retaliation and in search of new havens.

Telltale signs of creeping militancy abound in a belt of towns and villages near here that a reporter visited last week. Militants have gained strength considerably in the district of Dera Ghazi Khan, which is a gateway both to Taliban-controlled areas and the heart of Punjab, the police and local residents say. Many were terrified.

Some villages, just north of here, are so deeply infiltrated by militants that they are already considered no-go zones by their neighbors.

In at least five towns in southern and western Punjab, including the midsize hub of Multan, barber shops, music stores and Internet cafes offensive to the militants’ strict interpretation of Islam have received threats. Traditional ceremonies that include drumming and dancing have been halted in some areas. Hard-line ideologues have addressed large crowds to push their idea of Islamic revolution. Sectarian attacks, dormant here since the 1990s, have erupted once again.

“It’s going from bad to worse,” said a senior police official in Dera Ghazi Khan. “They are now more active. These are the facts.”

American officials agreed. Bruce Riedel, who led the Obama administration’s recently completed strategy review of Pakistan and Afghanistan, said the Taliban now had “extensive links into the Punjab.”

“You are seeing more of a coalescence of these militant groups,” said Mr. Riedel, a former C.I.A. official. “Connections that have always existed are becoming tighter and more public than they have in the past.”

The Punjabi militant groups have had links with the Taliban, who are mostly Pashtun tribesmen, since the 1980s. Some of the Punjabi groups are veterans of Pakistan’s state-sponsored insurgency against Indian forces in Kashmir. Others made targets of Shiites.

Under pressure from the United States, former President Pervez Musharraf cut back state support for the Punjabi groups. They either went underground or migrated to the tribal areas, where they deepened their ties with the Taliban and Al Qaeda.

At least 20 militants killed in American strikes in the tribal areas since last summer were Punjabi, according to people from the tribal areas and Pakistani officials. One Pakistani security official estimated that 5 percent to 10 percent of militants in the tribal regions could be Punjabi.

The alliance is based on more than shared ideology. “These are tactical alliances,” said a senior American counterterrorism official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss intelligence matters. The Pashtun Taliban and Arab militants, who are part of Al Qaeda, have money, sanctuary, training sites and suicide bombers. The Punjabi militants can provide logistical help in Punjabi cities, like Lahore, including handling bombers and target reconnaissance.

The cooperation between the groups intensified greatly after the government’s siege of Islamic hard-liners at the Red Mosque in Islamabad, in mid-2007, Pakistani and American security officials say. The siege has since become a rallying cry.

One such joint operation, an American security official said, was the Marriott bombing in Islamabad in September, which killed more than 50 people.
As this cooperation intensifies, places like Dera Ghazi Khan are particularly vulnerable. This frontier town is home to a combustible mix of worries: poverty, a growing phalanx of hard-line religious schools and a uranium processing plant that is a part of Pakistan’s nuclear program.

It is also strategically situated at the intersection of two main roads. One is a main artery into Pakistan’s heartland, in southern Punjab. The other connects Baluchistan Province in the west to the North-West Frontier Province, both Taliban strongholds.

“We are being cornered in a blind alley,” said Mohammed Ali, a local landlord. “We can’t breathe easily.”

Attacks intended to intimidate and sow sectarian strife are more common. The police point to a suicide bombing in Dera Ghazi Khan on Feb. 5. Two local Punjabis, with the help of Taliban backers, orchestrated the attack, which killed 29 people at a Shiite ceremony, the local police said.

The authorities arrested two men as masterminds on April 6: Qari Muhammad Ismail Gul, the leader of a local madrasa; and Ghulam Mustafa Kaisrani, a jihadi who posed as a salesman for a medical company.

They belonged to a banned Punjabi group called Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, but were tied through phone calls to two deputies of the Pakistani Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud, the police said.

“The phone numbers they call are in Waziristan,” said a police official, referring to the Taliban base in the tribal areas. “They are working together hand in glove.” One of the men had gone for training in Waziristan last summer, the police said. The operations are well-supported. Mr. Kaisrani had several bank transfers worth about $11 million from his Pakistani account, the authorities said.

Local crimes, including at least two recent bank robberies in Dera Ghazi Khan, were also traced to networks of Islamic militants, officials said.

“The money that’s coming in is huge,” said Zulfiqar Hameed, head of investigations for the Lahore Police Department. “When you go back through the chain of the transaction, you invariably find it’s been done for money.”

After the suicide attack here, the police confiscated a 20-minute inspirational video, titled “Revenge,” for the Red Mosque, which gave testimonials from suicide bombers in different cities and post-attack images.

Umme Hassan, the wife of a fiery preacher who was killed during the Red Mosque siege, now frequently travels to south Punjab, to rally the faithful. She has made 12 visits in the past several months before cheering crowds and showing emotional clips of the attack, said a Punjabi official who has been monitoring her visits.

“She claimed that they would bring Islamic revolution in three months,” said Umar Draz, who attended a rally in Muzzafargarh.

The situation in south and west Punjab is still far from that in the Swat Valley, a part of North-West Frontier Province that is now fully under Taliban control after the military agreed to a truce in February. But there are strong parallels.

The Taliban here exploit many of the same weaknesses that have allowed them to expand in other areas: an absent or intimidated police force; a lack of attention from national and provincial leaders; a population steadily cowed by threats, or won over by hard-line mullahs who usurp authority by playing on government neglect and poverty.

In Shadan Lund, a village just north of here, militants are openly demanding Islamic law, or Shariah, said Jan Sher, whose brother is a teacher there. “The situation is sharply going toward Swat,” Mr. Sher said. He and others said the single biggest obstacle to stopping the advance of militancy was the attitudes of Pakistanis themselves, whose fury at the United States has led to blind support for everyone who goes against it.

Shabaz Sharif, the chief minister of Punjab, said he was painfully aware of the problems of insurgent infiltration and was taking steps to restore people’s faith in government, including plans for new schools and hospitals. “Hearts and minds must be won,” he said in an interview Monday. “If this struggle fails, this country has no future.”

But people complain that landowners and local politicians have done nothing to stop the advance and, in some cases, even assist the militants by giving money to some of the religious schools.

“The government is useless,” said Mr. Ali, the local landlord. “They live happy, secure lives in Lahore. Their children study abroad. They only come here to contest elections.”

The police are left alone to stop the advance. But in Punjab, as in much of the rest of Pakistan, they are spread unevenly, with little presence in rural areas. Out of 160,000 police officers in Punjab, fewer than 60,000 are posted in rural areas, leaving frontier stations in districts virtually unprotected, police officials said.

Locals feel helpless. When a 15-year-old boy vanished from a madrasa in a village near here recently — his classmates said to go on jihad — his uncle could not afford to go look for him, let alone confront the powerful men who run the madrasa.

“We are simple people,” the man said. “What can we do?”

Just for a change today I tried to divert my mind from other provoking thoughts and roam here and then ended up at last in my home at my backyard. I looked upon the plants which were lying on my backyard so I captured their pictures from my Nokia 6070 Mobile Camera and here are some of them. I hope you do like them.
Although I have no knowledge of plant species but my mother has and she had maintained all the plants all by herself. She watered and wash them regularly . Some of the types which she told me and I guess that I mentioned all of them which are Aloevera, Mint, Spinich, Money plant, Corriander, Ivory plant, Touch-me-not plant, pomegranate plant and Red and White Rose plant.

Balochi's Mutilated

I don't really know what the fact is. I am still in doubt about the security of ordinary People of Pakistan. Almost every two or three days, there is an incident of suicide blasts or any other form of bloodshed in our country.

A recent Violence broke out in parts of Balochistan province in Pakistan on Thursday "9/4" after mutilated bodies of three leaders of nationalist groups were found, almost a week after they had been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen.Angry protesters took to the streets and torched a UN vehicle in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, and attacked banks and several government buildings, police said.

The mutilated bodies of Baloch Nationalist Movement chief Ghulam Muhammad Baloch, BNM leader Lala Munir and Baloch Republican Party leader Sher Muhammad Bugti were found late on Wednesday night, said Ayaz Baloch, a police officer in Turbat district.

The three nationalist leaders were kidnapped on April three from the office of a lawyer by unidentified gunmen, police said. No group claimed responsibility for the kidnapping and killings. But Baloch leaders alleged that the three leaders were kidnapped by the government agencies, a charge denied by authorities.

Supporters of the three leaders came out on the streets in Quetta after their bodies were identified on Thursday morning. They attacked vehicles and buildings. The UN vehicle was burnt by protestors on the busy Saryab Road, police said.

Police fired teargas to disperse the protestors.Protests were also held in the Baloch-majority areas like Turbat, Gwadar and Pasni to condemn the killing of the leaders.The government has put security forces on alert across Balochistan to avert further violence.Ghulam Muhammad Baloch had been kidnapped two year ago but was freed after being in captivity for several days. The Baloch leaders had been critical of government policies.

The way Pakistan is being handled by the US President Mr. Obama's Policies which are not different from the Ex-President Bush Policies, are not welcome to the government and people of Pakistan. On one side they told our agencies to make agreement with Talibans and share information with US authorities, and on the other hand there are Drone Attacks on Pakistani Tribal Areas which as a result worsens the living conditions of a mere Pakistani people living either in Pakistan or abroad.

People have a fear to go to their jobs or to leave their children to schools and Universities or to go to any other public places. No matter that India is possibly 100% involve with Talibans and acting in silence to destroy peace in Pakistan and make living situations of our people more miserable.

Whom to Blame

Who is responsible for acts of terrorism in the South Asian region, especially in Pakistan. Might it be Alqaeda terrorists, Molvi Fazal Ullah of Swat, Molana Fazal Rehman, Qazi Hussain Ahmed, MQM, PPP, PML(Q) , PML(N) or might it be very harsh or not to say that Indian extremists are directly or indirectly involved in this menace.

Well, GOD knows better or Mr. Obama knows better and one thing is obvious in this regard that if these type of incidents were occured in India, the indian media speaks itsels with courage that Pakistan is responsible for these incidents and so and so forth that if some Dog or Cat or Monkey struck by motorcyclist or car, died in the Mumbai streets, than the blame will still be on Pakistan.

Oh my GOD, what a coincidence. It seems to me that our country is not in control of out political leaders but instead, the great Mullah's extremists or terrorists or what do I call them, they are controlling this country. Our government only acclaims to take severe action against terrorists but our law enforcing agencies are not fully charged to take action against terrorists and extremists and we can see them fighting against extremists without wearing proper bullet proof gadgets.

Fighting on war on terror and as an ally with the United States is very hard and tough job. We have to look upon the factors, which started this war because the war on terror is terrorism itself. The Pakistani’s have loose so many innocent lives due to this war. We have to unveil behind the scene actors, who are creating these suicide attackers, and who are playing with the innocent lives.

Now its time to not celebrate but to sit together and think twice that where are we heading towards, either it is prosperity or poverty.

Searing pain and My Inner self

Making decisions at the eleventh hour was my specialty and it was not much as difficult before as it was now. I am in a much searing pain now that it was very difficult for even sleep either. Its 4:15am PST when I am writing this article. The pain within my inner self was much stronger this time than it was before. I kept fighting with my pains earlier and defeated my negative emotions to empower me but now i was unaware of the fact that these negative emotions of mine will over through me from my own shell. I was not even able to sleep whether my whole body was aware of this pain or its my conscience defeating me. I will have to overlook the scenario that why was so powerless this time. People used to see my bearable performance before but now they were reluctant any more. I don't know that I am capable of defeating my conscience this time or not but i will not make decisions in a haste this time. Maybe the angle of my thoughts are more emotional or rather I am not thinking logical. I don't know whether I am over-estimating myself today or under-estimating, well it doesn't makes sense to me either. Maybe the planets are no more cooperative to solve my dilemma. Todays horoscope of my star "CANCER" reveals that I've been running around so frenetically that I have cheated myself out of one or two special experiences. So today, I have got to slow down -- or else I'll miss the point of the life I am living. And my multi-tasking needs to come to a stop, too. I've got to fully experience everything you are doing one hundred percent, whether it's watching a television commercial or listening to music. When I divide my attentions, I devalue your experiences". Focus. Well! thats the point i was really missing today. I am so holy Crap that I have divided my attentions in so many projects at a time that its become difficult for me to regenetate my attentions and focus. So I think that atlast I have to assign my priorities so that I donot lay behind and givenup everything in future.

Awards or What?

This blog relates to Huma Yusuf who writes for Dawn News Blog. Dawn News is the famous Newspaper of our country. I liked Huma's style so i quoted her blog without any change written about Awards given on 23rd March 2009 by Mr President Asif Ali Zardari.

She writes,
"Another Pakistan Day, another awards ceremony. On Monday, President Asif Ali Zardari gathered “outstanding” Pakistanis – both military personnel and civilians – around him at the Aiwan-i-Sadr to confer all manner of stars and medals. Often, the announcement of civilian awardees sparks controversy as the chattering and politicking classes can’t help but wonder whether nepotism, favouritism, cronyism – or any other nefarious –ism – facilitated the selection. This year, however, the awards have raised different questions about the society we all inhabit.
Firstly, one can’t help but remember that President Zardari recently muddied the award waters by bestowing some of our nation’s highest honours on US administration officials. In January, then US Vice President-elect Joe Biden was granted the Hilal-e-Pakistan for strengthening democracy (read: pumping Pakistan with even more non-military aid). At about the same time, then US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher snagged the highest civil award, the Hilal-e-Quaid-e-Azam, for “deepening bilateral cooperation” and promoting peace, stability and prosperity. Pakistanis were outraged, particularly by Boucher’s acknowledgement. Many quipped that he was being awarded for enabling the NRO, sanctioning Predator attacks in FATA, and generally arm-twisting the Pakistani leadership.
And so it is that in Zardari’s tenure as president, civilian awards were doled out to US dignitaries before Pakistani citizens. That choice has tainted awards-giving, and the question at the back of everyone’s mind when Zardari bestows a medal is: what’s he getting out of it?
Of course, Zardari’s bad judgement should in no way detract from the wonderful achievements of Pakistanis who have done their nation proud and earned rightful recognition through government awards. Indeed, we should be inspired by the innovation, research, dedication and professional commitment that thrive here against all odds.
While we’re admiring award recipients, though, we should take a moment to reflect on what their achievements mean for our society at large. Under normal circumstances, the awards a nation bestows upon its brightest and best reflect that nation’s values and cultural aspirations. The work of those who receive national awards should tread a nation’s path to progress; their efforts should serve the national agenda; their research should illuminate questions of national concern. In Pakistan, however, the achievements of civilian awardees increasingly betray a disconnect with the society in which they are achieved. In other words, the Pakistan Day awards ceremony was yet another reminder that the Pakistan we currently inhabit is drifting further and further away from the Pakistan that was meant to be.
What are we to make of Habib Jalib’s posthumous Nishan-i-Imtiaz in a country where poets have seen the insides of more jail cells than publishing houses because they dare to critique dictators and power-hungry civilian leaders through verse? (Ironically, those who critique the government are often rewarded with sitaras and tamghas, but only well after they’re six feet under.)
How can we take former chief editor of Dawn Ahmad Ali Khan’s posthumous Hilal-i-Imtiaz seriously in a country where the recently passed ‘Prevention of Electronic Crimes Ordinance’ further stifles media freedom by making the character assassination of a member of state punishable by imprisonment?
How should award recipients Ali Moeen Nawazish and Greg Mortenson feel on receiving a Pride of Performance award and Sitara-i-Pakistan, respectively? Nawazish set a world record by securing 21 A grades in his A Level exams, while Mortenson earned international acclaim for setting up 78 schools that educated 28,000 children – including 18,000 girls – in Pakistan’s northern and tribal areas. What do their achievements mean in the face of a government that let Taliban militants destroy 130 girls’ schools in Swat before intervening?
Similarly, what do we make of actor Shafi Mohammed Shah’s Sitara-e-Imtiaz and singer Humera Channa’s Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in a country where CD and DVD shops are regularly blown up and burnt, and where, with the government’s support, the TNSM has outlawed all entertainment and media sales in Malakand.
The list of civilian award recipients is long and impressive. But the discordant notes that their achievements strike in the context of contemporary Pakistani society are alarming. If things continue like this, what will tomorrow’s citizens collect stars and medals for?

Exigency of Electricity

Pakistan is under pressure and incapable of fighting the intense internal and external pressures and conflicts. The fact is that it is due to certain circumstances which should be resolved so that Pakistan will come out of uncertainty.
Almost one year and a month of new democratic government of Islamic Republic of Pakistan has passed and since the government has been formed, yet the government officials whether they are in opposition or they are in government; are busy in the crises of their own and no one pays attention on the exigency of electricity and new dams.
Nobody considers the amorphous giant of electricity who has camouflaged himself in the fall season but has returned with the spring.
The electricity is the crux element to play a massive part in the development of a country. In our country only the Dams are helpful to play a part in the generation of electricity. There is a massive need of making new dams as well as introducing new technologies to produce electricity to cater the needs of our country. These new technologies from which electricity can be generated, like solar power, hydro power, coal power, wind power and nuclear Power are new for our country but not new for developed countries. So they can be helpful to cover the needs of our country.
Our country has abundant coal in Baluchistan province to cover the needs for our country for about one hundred years but there is need of machinery to dig the coal. Solar Panels can be installed on the areas where there are less rains like Northern areas to produce electricity. A small project of solar power is under progress in Skardu city, while the air power can be utilized if the wind panels are to be installed in the Gawadar coast and the Hydro project can be beneficial in Punjab province.
Now the spring season has come and there is load shedding of 6 to 10 hours in every city of the country while there is load shedding of 10 to 16 hours in villages. Thanks to IESCO (Islamabad electric supply company) because this article was written due to the availability of electricity. But the situation will get worse in the upcoming months in summer when the air conditioning will be required to maintain required temperature in offices, production units, stock exchanges, universities, research labs, hospitals, call centre’s, software houses and telecommunication and media centre’s as well.

All of them are directly dependable on electricity to work smoothly and if there is no electricity then all of them are useless. Factories will be closed and people will suffer and economy of the country will be drifted towards zero. People will come out on the roads to protest once again.
Another problem of a developing country like Pakistan is that people don’t remonstrate peacefully by holding slogans and billboards like in developed countries. Instead they seem like their utmost responsibility to destroy government property, whether its vehicles, banks, hospitals, parks, call centre franchise or utility or kiosks centre’s whatever comes in their war is not is safe from them.
Some extremists and activists are always in search of those galas to occur so that they surely get the chance to play their part to terrorize the people and government and make the country miserable to live.
Sadly, no one seems to pay attention to the main problems our country is facing
Hats off to the President of Pakistan Mr. Zardari, and Prime minister Gilanni and who considered the Chief Justice issue as genuine and solved it before the torrent of CJ catastrophe through them out of power.
At last it has been decided to sack the current CJ Dogar and reinstate the former CJ Iftikhar M. Chaudry on March 21, 2009. The lawyer community and the people of Pakistan had struggled for almost two consecutive years and served their days and nights for this cause and now they are happy and busy in celebrating this miraculous event because their struggle has at last a positive outcome. Even the media is not lacking behind, busy in reporting each and every part of this marvelous cause.
Until and unless the problem of the Sharif Brothers is solved, other core crises remain untouched no matter how complicated they are, the tension will still prevail in this region because now there is an interim government in the Punjab province and PPP government has assigned Mr. Taseer as the Governor of the province.
May Allah Almighty give our leaders some provoking thought, ability and strength so that they can smooth the progress of this country to come out of this mess! (Amen).

Justice Imprinted its Mark

No matter who we are and what we do, we are concerned about the current situation in Pakistan. Every Pakistani whether he is Lawyer, Media men, Traders, Politicians, Businessman, Teachers, Students or a simple Layman etc. whether they live in Pakistan or they are outside Pakistan feels joyous and Proud that their Country has defeated those elements who are against the dignity of Pakistan. And now that decision has been made to reinstate the former Chief Justice Of Pakistan, it is the success of the whole country and its 17 Million men. One can only wish that this process of prosperity goes like this for atleast half a century and our country suceed in every sphere of life. Amen
