They are fitted all the way through the hips, down the thighs and right into the shoes. In my opinion, these creations should be totally prohibited from use on anyone who can’t honestly say that they look good in tights. The only way you can justify wearing such a thing is if you pair it with a loose tunic top and a snazzy pair of high heals. If not, don’t even look at those things!

Tapered fitted pants create an upside down pyramid with the ankles at the tip and the hips and butt at the top. Unless you have the tiniest of butt and hips, it will basically make you look huge where you would rather want to skim a few inches. And, not only that! If, below the upside down tip of the pyramid, you are wearing birkenstocks or sneakers, you’ll look like you are related to Donald Duck – your feet will look like boats! This is why these kinds of pants MUST be paired with high heals or tall boots if you insist on wearing them.

Needless to say, anyone who doesn’t want to look like a fashion mistake, especially if you are of mature age with a less than ideal size of wiggly bits, should highly consider a different style of pants.

To balance large or curvy hips, it is way more flattering to wear pants that fit around the hips, and then fall losely through the legs. One of my favorite type of pants are palazzo pants, which drape like a skirt and balance the hips nicely. You don’t even have to wear them with heals, comfortable flats work great.

So, unless you are planning fancy date and feel comfortable wearing 4″ heals, do yourself a favor and get rid of your pencil pants! Some things just aren’t meant to be worn on a daily basis…

The author insists that you should use a liner pencil UNDER the top lash line.

I wondered why he put it under the top lashline instead of above, and just ignored his advice and kept putting the line above my lashes instead. However, one day, I decided to try it, since I had noticed that the eyes look a bit too made up sometimes, especially if it is bright sunlight outside.

So, I put a soft, smudged line under my lower eye lashes, and then tried to line the bottom of the upper lash line. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. All you have to do is put your head back a bit, open your eyes, and not blink. Since I use contact lenses, not blinking was easy. If you have a problem with blinking, you might have to hold the lid up a bit.

Anyway, by putting the head back a bit, you can actuallly see the underside of your lash line. Just use a pencil and start lining where the lashes begin. After you are done, you’ll be surprised how nicely defined your eyes look, even though the line that you drew is basically invisible so nobody will know it is there.

If you want to define a bit more, you can draw another line on top of the upper lashline as well. Then top it off with Maybelline’s Falsies Mascara and you are good to go!

You might want to try it! The effect is quite cool!

So, now they are about to pass a new bill that will ensure that all cosmetics sold is safe cosmetics. Sounds great, doesn’t it?

It isn’t until you read the small print that you realize that this bill is simply a plot to get rid of any small cosmetics producer who doesn’t have the money to pay for extensive testing of every product they make!

The solution could have been so simple: Just make a list of safe ingredients that are accepted and allowed in skin care products and cosmetics. It wouldn’t be too much of a hassle to stay within these kinds of simple guidelines. But, if this bill goes through, it will basically eliminate all small businesses from lack of finances. If you don’t want this to happen, please take a moment to sign the petition against the safe cosmetics act of 2010. Yes, we all want safe products, but THIS is not the solution!

Have you seen actresses who are so pretty that their choice of makeup actually ruins their beauty? Sandra Bullock is a good example. She is probably so pretty that she doesn’t need makeup at all, but she cakes it on in layers!

This kind of makeup use doesn’t enhance anyone’s beauty, nor does it make you look younger, and I don’t think men like it either. I have read info from many different sources that states that men hate it when they can actually see the makeup you are wearing on your face, especially on the skin. They much prefer a natural looking face, such as Christy Brinkley, who uses very light makeup.

She still uses makeup, but she does it in very subtle ways, which makes her face look naturally radiant, fresh and glowing.

I am a great believer in enhancing your natural beauty, and I don’t see any point in actually covering it up. Don’t believe the hype from makeover books for women over 50 where they tell you that the older you get, the heavier your makeup should be! Is heavy makeup supposed to make you look younger and more attractive??? NOT!

If you are over 50, the most important thing to do is to tint your eyebrows to get rid of any gray hairs. This will frame your face and give you a younger look, and nobody will even know that you use a tint. The most natural looking eyebrow tint that I have found is called “Refectocil” and I use the color “light brown” which tints the eyebrows in the most natural looking color, and the whole process only takes 5 minutes!

Next, pile on the mascara, use a translucent moisturizer, cover up your spots with cover stick, and use an illuminating cream under the eyes. Put a little bit of cream blush on the apples of your cheeks. It is harder to apply than powder blush, but it looks way more natural and glowy.

Top it off with some tinted lip gloss, and you are good to go! Forget about heavy duty lipsticks, lip liners and full coverage foundations and powders. Just keep it light, and use soft colors, and you will retain a younger look for a longer time.

Things are falling apart all over the place, and we see all kinds of natural disasters, including earth quakes, tornados, and of course, the oil spill in the gulf.

I recently got a message from a group called “The Hathors.” These are beings channeled by a medium called Tom Kenyon (see link in my blogroll under spirituality), and in the last message, they were talking about how we can actually make a difference when it comes to what is going to happen next.

They talk about the importance of raising your vibration through gratefulness, and also about the importance of holding the vision of what we want. We have all heard the saying “Be careful what you wish for,” and now more than ever, this saying contains lots of truth and wisdom.

It is easy to get depressed about the state of things. Many things are bleak, dark and chaotic, and if we project this bleakness into the future, it seems that the world is in a downward spiral with unavoidable destruction and disaster at the end. But, this, according to the Hathors, is just one timeline. They state that when times are chaotic, there are always more than one timeline, and that we have to choose which timeline we decide to be part of.

Another timeline is where humanity starts waking up and taking control of things, where old authority figures are brought to their knees, where people stop competing and start cooperating, and where love is more important than profit. Which option do you wish for?

I know what I would rather have! I would choose love, cooperation and caring any day! So, how do we choose that timeline, and contribute to it happening?

First, we must raise our vibration by feeling what it would be like to live in that timeline. Would you be grumpy and negative about what is happening in the world, or would your rather focus your positive energy into what you can do to make a difference? Whatever we put our energy into, is what we will eventually manifest. So, don’t let yourself get sucked into the darkness of negativity. Be grateful that you have chosen to do what you can to bring in the new.

Next, you must hold the vision of what you want to happen. Deal with what is happening here and now, but at the same time, hold the vision of what you want. If you want a better world, hold the vision, and do what you can to make it so. If you want a better world, don’t focus on what doesn’t work, and how everything sucks. You are here because everything sucks, because it takes a lot of people with a positive vision to make it better. And, if you are one of those people, then, hold the vision, and work towards it. Find equally minded people and support each other. And, you know what? Together, we actually can make a difference. This is why I’m here, and I hope most of the people who read this blog feel the same way. Just plan for a miracle, and hold the vision…

I have read many makeup/makeover books, and they basically all state that when you get older, your lips loose definition, and that the only solution is to color them in with a lip liner before you apply the lip stick.

The loss of lip definition is a natural process that happens with age. Other things that happen is that all your colors become softer. So, when your hair and skin color become softer, do you think it looks flattering with harshly lined lips??? Hardly!

The truth is that lining your lips with a harsh lip line makes you look harsh and severe at a time in your life when you should rather opt for a soft look!

A much better option would be to soften the lip color and to use a sheer, translucent gloss. Why? Two reasons – glossy lips make your lips look bigger and fuller, and it also gives you a younger look. Try it, and you’ll see! It is amazing what a little bit of gloss can do for your look!

Stay away from frosting, glitz and glam – those effects should be left for anyone under 25. But, anyone can benefit with some gloss on the lips, especially if the lip color is sheer so that your natural lip color shows through.

The most flattering lip color is no more than one shade away from your natural lip color, and with a sheer lip tint, it is easy to get that “your lips but better” effect.

To check out my new sheer lip tints, CLICK HERE. I have just made up 10 different colors that are super flattering for any shape lips.

Many women are confused about this. Traditionally, we are told that if we have dry or mature skin, we need a thick moisturizer. NOT SO!!!

If the skin is dry or mature, the main thing we need is MOISTURIZER. So, what exactly is moisturizer? It is a cream that is high in moisture, obviously. But do you think a thick cream is high in moisture? NOT…
Moisture is water, or components that can hold water, such as hyaluronic acid, lecithin, honey, glycerin etc. Notice that oils and butters are not listed here. Why? Because oils and butters are skin softeners, not moisturizers.

Moisturizers and skin softeners actually have two different purposes. A moisturizer is supposed to go into the skin and increase the water levels in the skin cells. This will plump the skin back up and remove some of the wrinkles caused by evaporation of water from the cells.

A skin softener made with rich oils and butters, however, will simply keep the outer layer soft and create a barrier that stops evaporation of moisture, but it doesn’t actually add moisture to the skin cells.

Many people prefer to only use one product, but this doesn’t work. A skin softening barrier cream isn’t supposed to go into your skin cells, so if you add moisturizing agents to it, you are actually just waisting your money, because they, too, will sit on top of your skin since they are mixed with heavy oils and butters.

What, then, is the solution? The solution is simple, so simple, in fact, that I don’t know why the skin care industry doesn’t get it – all you need is products that can be layered.

My own company, Green Beauty Cosmetics, uses this concept. It makes perfect sense, that if your skin is dry or mature, you need a moisturizer first. The moisturizer should be thin, like a serum, so it can easily penetrate the skin cells and increase the moisture levels. However, that is not enough in itself.

Dry or mature skin doesn’t produce enough natural oils, either, so these have to be added to protect the moisture from evaporating. So, all you need is a layer of a thick, protective cream on top of your moisturizer, and your skin loves it! It doesn’t even take very long before you can see the difference!

You can still add more layers, if you wish. I usually top it off with a Tinted Moisturizer that evens out my skin tone and gives me a touch of glow, but the tinted moisturizer is optional.

The main thing is to add the moisturizing serum first, and then top it with a thicker cream. I like to use the Hyaluronic Acid Serum as the moisturizer, and put the Chamomile Cream on top. The Chamomile Cream also works as a hand cream, or even a night cream, if you wish.

I’ve been on another quest this summer – the quest for the perfect bikini, and now I’ve got 5 bikinis sitting in my room ready to be resold on ebay (sigh…). Why is it so hard to be happy with what we look like in a bikini? Most of us are not going to look like models after having kids & hitting menopause. Who are we trying to kid? It is easy to compare ourselves with younger, more perfect women, and to get negative about the parts that no longer fit that picture. But, are we actually making things worse by feeling negative about our own bodies?

I recently came across some pictures of water crystals from a Japanese scientist who has done studies on the effect of positive or negative thoughts on water. Bless the water, or love the water, and beautiful crystals are formed! Hate the water, and terrible looking crystals are formed!

Now take these findings, and realize that our bodies are over 60% water. If negative thoughts can affect the water crystals, it can do the same to the water in our bodies. And, how can the water be life giving and supportive of health and beauty, if we have destroyed the molecular structure with our hateful comments about ourselves?

Beauty happens from the inside out. By loving yourself, your water molecules will become beautiful, and this beauty will radiate through your whole system and give life and vitality to all your organs. Instead of looking in the mirror, noticing more wrinkles and sags and bags with a negative attitude, what about reminding yourself every day that menopause is about becoming a goddess (and a goddess of course, has to have curves…)

So, the next time you find yourself wearing a bikini, and some skinny gorgeous girl walks by, remind yourself that you are a goddess, and that curves are required – and your water molecules will dance with joy!
