When flying I often like looking through the Skymall magazines that are on the flight. I found some very interesting items. For example Thundershirt for dogs. Dogs hate fireworks and it makes them very anxious. This item is suppose to calm them. I have a cute little dog named Yorkie! The name fits him so well, he is a Silkshire; that is a Yorkshire and Silky Terrier mixed. My sister has been trying to get me a dog since she first got her Cocker Spaniel 4 years ago from a co-worker. I was not ready to accept a full time pet at that time because I was facing shoulder surgery and it would have been difficult to take care of it at that time.

On occasion I would take care of her dog when she and her husband had to travel. I found myself missing the dog when she was not around. On my birthday January 17th of this year 2012 my sister decided that I should have a dog companion. She adopted Yorkie! I fell in love. I am like a mother with a baby, buying everything for the doggie! I now understand why people get so carried away with their pets. I also see that it can get very expensive to have a pet.

Flowering plants that overwinter and multiply by means on fleshy stems of leaves are called bulbs. The bulbs we grow in our gardens today are native to temperate zones all over the world, the woodlands, meadows and mountains of the Mediterranean, Middle East, and North America. The Dutch have been extremely successful over the centuries in collection and hybridizing new species of bulbs and improving them for reliable garden performance. Tulips in particular, once played an important role in the Dutch economy.

There is no easier plant to cultivate than a bulb. Planted at the right time, in a loose, well-draining soil, bulbs will bloom punctually year after year and even spread (“naturalize”) if conditions are to their liking.

By planting a sequence of spring-, summer- and fall-flowering bulbs at the appropriate time, you can enjoy their blooms practically year ‘round.

Fall (late September through late November) – Plant hardy, spring-flowering bulbs: tulips, narcissus (includes all types of daffodils), crocus, eranthis (winter aconites), erythronium, fritillaria, hyacinths snowdrops, scilla, hardy cyclamen, lilies. In California and milder areas of the Southwest, also plant ranunculus, freesias, anemones and paperwhites outdoors. Store tulips, crocus and hyacinths in refrigerator for 6-8 weeks before planting. In all regions, store potted bulbs in refrigerator for forcing indoors.

Winter – In California, plant prechilled- hardy bulbs outdoors. In all regions, remove sprouted bulbs from refrigerator for indoor forcing.

Home-grown, vine-ripened strawberries are among the garden's supreme treats- sweet, succulent, and bursting with flavor. Serve them in shortcakes, blended into smoothies, on ice cream, in cheesecakes or crepes, topped with yogurt or whipped cream, or simply savor them "as is" fresh from the garden. Grocery store strawberries, which are harvested early and ripened off the vine, can't begin to compare in sweetness and flavor.

Strawberries are also easy to grow in the home garden. The plants form foot-wide mounds of lush dark green foliage that can serve as an attractive ground cover. They require no staking or training, as do the larger berries, and only basic care. Once planted they will spread and continue to produce for four or five years before they need to be replaced.

Strawberry plants also grow well in pots, patio planters, even in hanging planters. While there are many varieties of strawberries, there are basically only two types: June-bearing (Allstar) and Everbearing (Ozark and Quinalt). The June-bearing strawberries bloom in the spring and produce a plentiful crop that ripens during June. The Everbearing strawberries produce both a spring and a fall crop, and continue producing some berries throughout the summer, more when temperatures aren't too hot. For the home gardener, the best strategy is to plant both types and harvest ripe berries over a long season.

With usage of the internet and computers at its highest its ever been, a reciprocal need for proper furniture for the home and office has followed. So much so that finding a simple computer desk has become a tedious task for many. However, this guide is here to help make the endeavor of finding a computer desk a simple task by identifying several styles of computer desks, as well as different options to consider during your search.

First thing to look at even before you start your hunt for the right computer desk is to take measurements of the area or room that the desk will inhabit. Homemade TV Stand

Today I had a stand made for my Television. I have a 51 inch big screen TV, not a flat screen which seems to be what is in a lot of homes these days. I want one! I would prefer to have one. I like the look of a flat screen TV but since there is nothing wrong with my big screen TV it does not make any sense to buy a flat screen for the den, I have one on the wall in my bedroom. I would have to try to sell the big screen but I doubt if anyone would want to purchase it, or I would not get much for it. I will just wait until it dies.

I was sitting in my recliner and watching TV and got to looking at the style and thought what if I had cabinet made to cover the base of the TV? Um! I figured if I made a bottom to cover the base maybe I could make it look as if it were a flat screen TV sitting on a stand. I got a pad and pencil and began sketching a design on paper, I am not an artist mind you; I showed the drawing to my husband and asked him if he could make it. He is not a carpenter but he is pretty handy. I call him Handy Manny; like the cartoon, his name is Manny and he is handy. Anyhow we took measurements and we went to the Home Depot and purchased some wood and he and I got busy building my design. I have included some pictures below:
