For the Rebornz Room & Born show opening April 10th at Rothick Art Haus in Anaheim. The show is going to be great. They're building a ramp & there will be tons of live art & music & a taco truck!

The first one is Homegrown. I got to see the space yesterday & it was a really great gallery & there are some really wonderful pieces that I was able to see while there. Tracy Taylor is curating the show & she's been working hard to make an amazing show. Come on out to the opening & see.

The next show is at Rothick Art Haus & it's a Skate Deck Group show. This one's going to be a blast. I'm very happy with how my deck turned out & can't wait to see everyone else's. Hope to see you at both!

This is a study for a skate deck design for a Rothick Art Haus Skate Deck show coming up in April. I'll post more details later.
This is watercolor on 90lb cold press Arches paper. 30" x 7.5". I'll be selling this original in my Etsy shop later this week. I'm still fine tuning it...

So, when I hit a slump (an artistic slump) & I can't think of anything to draw, I start looking for inspiration. Often this involves hours of looking at blogs & drawing board, drawergeeks, etc. or I'll look through art books I have or go to the library. This week I took out one of my favorites: Norman Rockwell. He was not just an incredibly talented illustrator but a great character designer. He could fill the canvas with so much emotion & feeling. You look at his characters & they are alive in this surreal, funny environment. I could never compare myself to Rockwell, but it's something I strive for in my own illustration. To craft an image that is funny, well done & triggers a feeling. I took one of Rockwell's early illustrations (Dining Out) & adapted it to my robot. After I finished that one, the ideas started flowing & I finished 2 more illos today. It works just about every time. I said this morning that Wile E. Coyote is my spirit guide. He never gives up.

I posted this image earlier but I've been sitting on a version of this that I wanted to hang on the wal, but I wasn't sure how I was going to do it & then I figured it out a few days ago. The background is sand & the images are cut out & glued in place.
