Baguette in Laos is beautiful, hard and fresh skin and nice soft bread inside. It’s nice in Vietnam or Cambodia as well, but not in Thailand. The other day I did #ChocRun to get chocolate, and this weekend I’ve done #BaguetteRun to Laos. I just couldn’t stop thinking about the beautiful bread…. xxx

It’s possible to go to Laos just for breakfast. I was in Vientiene 9.30 in the morning on Sunday to have baguette sand. It cost me about 1,000THB to get 2,000kip (10THB) baguette sand.

Here is how to get the breakfast in Laos.

Over-night train to Nong Khai from Bangkok 20:00 : 12 hours, 488THB

On Saturday, I had to work. I finished my work around 19:00 and jumped into the MRT to Hualangporn station. It was the last minutes ticket, so only 2nd class sleeper fan, higher berth were left. No lower berth. Sleeper berth train in Thailand is actually nice, a lot more than I expected, it is comfortable enough, bed is ok enough.

Tuktuk from Nongkhai station to the border : 10 min, 20 THB

The train arrives at Nong Khai station 8.00am. There are some tuktuk waiting, they take you to the border for 20THB. Sometimes on the way, they try to drop you at an agent to do visa service for you, but actually you can  do it by yourself little cheaper at the border, so better to ignore it.

Bus to cross over the border bridge : 5 min, 20THB (incl.overtime fee)

The border between Thailand and Laos is a bridge called “Friendship Bridge”. After you passed the Thai side immigration, there is a stand selling bus ticket for 20THB. Get it and jump on the bus, it’ll take you to the other side of the liver, Laos.

Get Visa : 0THB to… sorry, don’t know much about it

For me, with my Japanese passport, I don’t need visa. I think for some nationalities, it costs around 30USD or so.

Entrance Fee : 2,500Kip – 15THB

To enter Laos, they charge you “entrance fee”, just only 15THB.

Sonteu to the market, Talad Sao : 30 min, 20THB

When you get out of the immigration, you’ll see many taxi drivers trying to get tourist. Ignore them walk through to the right side, there is a bus stop, and you can get shared tuktuk or sonteu only for 20THB.

You are there for baguette sand! : 2,000 to 3,000 kip

The sonteu arrives at the market called Talad Sao, and right beside the place selling baguette sand. Jump off the sonteu, give the driver 20THB, then get the baguette. It must be around 9.30, great time for breakfast. Small baguette sand with pathe stuffed costs about 3,000 kip.

This is beautiful. It worth paying 1,000THB for transportation even if itself costs only 10THB.

Well, breakfast is now done, that’s all how to get breakfast in Laos.

Over night trains to Bangkok leave Nongkhai at 18:00 or 19:30, you still have few more hours in Laos. Or if you stay one night there, you can have another breakfast in Laos :)

Here are some more to do. Vientiene is small. You can walk around the town in few hours, or rent a bike, easier.

Reading at cafes : as long as you like

In Vientiene, there are many little lovely cafes with nice coffee and wifi. It’s kind of places you spend few hours on your own just for reading books or relaxing. Most of the places have free wifi (or some charge you but not much).

Most of that kind places are for farang or tourist, but still cozy and nice. And even they are for farang, price is still cheap, the big bottle of beer lao costs 10,000kip which is 40THB, but coffee and sweets could cost more.

Chewy noodles for lunch : 6,000 kip – 30 THB

I love this, I still don’t know the name of the noodle, I always order this by pointing the noodles. It taste like Japannese udon. The soup is clear and the noodles are little chewy and thick. It’s not like rice noodles or egg noodles, this is we don’t have in Thailand.

You can find this at Talad Sao or some other local noodle places.

Herb sauna and massage : 2 hours 200 THB

Beside Wat Sok pa luang, there are small locacl herb sauna place. They open around 13:00, so it’s good to spend time before you head to the border after lunch.

It’s very local place but tourists know there, too. Take sauna with local people, and wash yourself with the water from a big tank.

The massage is not too bad but not too good, it’s depends on the massage girl or boy. But after taking hot sauna, you can easily fall in sleep with the massage. The atomosphere there is totally local, open wooden lao style house under trees.

Sunset… at the riverside is not good anymore :(

If you stay one more night, I’d love to suggest sunset at the Mekong river side, but not any more. They are doing development and now what you see is like this.

Well, it’s time to go back to Thailand to get train back home. Leave Vientiene at 17.30, pass the border at 18.00 is safe enough to catch the 19.15 train.

ハッカースペースをやろうっていう話はずっと前からあった.ギークハウス作りたいねとか．co-workingスペースほしいね、とか過去1年以上みんなでぼそぼそ話してた.ようやくはじめました.

名前は!␣

Bangspaceと読みます．「!」と「　(スペース)」で構成されてます.

メンバーはタイ人・日本人・アメリカ人・イギリス人・スウェーデン人・ノルウェー人・南アフリカ人(なのかな国籍…)・ドイツ人…わかんないけどとにかくいろんな国からきたいろんなひとが集まってます．しかし人種とかどうでもいい．とりあえず、ここのひとたちはネットにつながっておもちゃがあるとそれなりに勝手に遊んでいるので、同じ空間を共有するのに最適です.

ハッカースペースは世界中いろんなところにあります．hackerspace.orgによると世界中に250ヶ所以上あるらしい.

簡単に言うとハッカーが集まって遊ぶ場所です．みんなでおもしろいプロジェクトやったり、勉強会したり、ひとりもくもくと作業したり.

ギークハウスの案はずっと考えていて、自分のうちをギークハウスにしちゃえとか、ギークな人とシェアしようとか考えたけれど、「住む」ということになると、みんなそう簡単に動けない.

ハッカースペースは基本24時間オープン．いつ行ってもいい．みんなの場所.

バンコクのハッカースペースは、有志があつまってはじめたもの．誰か特定のスポンサーとかオーガナイザーがスペースを作って一般に開放している、とかいう図ではありません．だからまだまだいろいろ足りないけれど、スクラッチから作ってる感って悪くないです．

今のところ月曜日はDrupalの日.火曜日はAndroidの日,水曜日は電子工作の日です．わたしはこれのおかげで電子工作に目覚めた．はんだごての匂いいい匂い．街中のいろんなものが電子工作キットに見えます．

もともと水玉とマルチボーダー柄が大好きなんですが、いまは水玉を見ると基盤にみえるし、マルチボーダーを見ると電気抵抗にみえます．電子工作ラブ．

MOZOのメンバーで電子工作ラブなのが二人いるので、水曜日の電子工作の日にはわたしの先生をやってもらってます．

定例のイベントのほかにも、他の国のハッカースペースの人が遊びにきたり、DIYやったり、Barcampのちっちゃいのをやったり、なんでもありです．

月曜から水曜は、だいたい夜の8時くらいから人がぼちぼち集まって,一緒に作業したり勉強したりディスカッションしたり、いつも気づくと真夜中すぎ.

維持費(ネットとか電気代とか)は有志のメンバーのメンバーフィー(現状月額500バーツ)と、わたしの管理する#spacebarとよばれる冷蔵庫からの売上など．ハッカースペースはじめて２ヶ月…ようやくプラスになった…

わたしの電子工作最初の本格プロジェクトは、この#spacebarの飲み物を管理する仕組みと、カクテルロボット…　どうやって作るかまだぜんぜんわかってないですが、頼りになる仲間がいっぱいいるのできっとできる！　とおもいます.

ボリス・ヴィアンの「日々の泡」でコランが作った「カクテルピアノ」が目標…　入力デバイス（ピアノ）とコントローラと出力デバイス（カクテルマシーン)でできるはず.

bangspaceはまだまだ始まったばっかりで、スペース自体はほとんどなんにもない．人が集まってきて、bangspaceになるかんじ．これからいろいろ作らなくては．屋上もあるので、屋上にはバーを作って、スクリーン出してムービーナイト、とかね．

Do you bring your laptop or books to bathroom?

I always bring book or even if I don’t take anything, I sit on the toilet and think. Sometimes I go to toilet just for thinking of something, close the toilet cover and sitting on it then think.

So I made this, I was kinda surprised that I had never thought of doing this, bathroom is the great “closed” place to open my mind. At office, everybody use the same bathroom, many people sit and look at the same wall, why don’t we put something there?

Then today I realized that not everybody sit there every time.

So I added this for boys.

Now I became “officially” elder which the government certify. It’s the age human beings start feeling more about the time left, which everybody has. There are no time left to waste, live every single moment.

I am so happy to have such healthy and happy children. It seems like Haruto (her grandson) has inherited my personality, happy and strong, which makes me feel even better.

How many years left for her? How many times will she see her daughter?

Between my mother and me, meeting each other is not too important, I feel. We do communicate like this with very old tool, but I do like this and happy to read her letters. Her letters say almost same things every time, nothing new, but it makes me even happier.

We both know we will start fighting if we live together :) She is 100 times stronger than me, she is one of the most interesting creature I have ever met.

I love you mom, but I don’t wanna live with you never again <3

This is what I know, but sometimes I forget or I pretend I forget it. Fluke’s talk at #TEDxBKK reminded me this, the talk was so impressive, I will write about it later, but now myself, I have to shout at myself.

Just move!

I know I have never regret by doing something, but I have regret many times by not-doing what I wanted to do.

I know when I say “I’d like to do but little too busy” – this is 100% excuse, I know I’m saying excuses when these words come out from my mouth. Even if I am bloody busy, I can make time if I really want to make it happen, I know it.

Time and chance, these are thing I make, not something I wait for. If I don’t do it now, I won’t do it forever.

The words by Ben which I love is “There are no ’should’, there are only ‘will’ or ‘want’”, maybe we don’t even need these words, just MOVE.

Is if for real?

Jamie’s passionate talk was nice, as it’s like his cooking show, but is it for real? Like kids say “potatoes” when they saw tomatoes. Or the interview to a woman with full of pizzas, burgers and junk food on the table, isn’t it too much rendering?

One of my very close friend was surprised when I told him that radish is good for digestion, the reason pineapple in stair fried sweet sour pork, he asked me how i know it, I don’t know how, I just learned in my past life, maybe from mom, maybe from somewhere else. He even asked me what’s the difference between squid and octopus, they even have different numbers of legs.

But sometimes I am the same, I know potatoes or tomatoes, but I can’t imagine original animals when I see a packed meat, or fish, there are so many different fishes or same fished but different name depends on the season, sometimes I can’t tell what the fish is.

Since I came to Thailand, I see more ‘original’ animal of meat, I see dead body of a pig, it’s just a dead bod of big for me but when it’s cut into small portion then it’s called pork, wondering when a pig turns into a pork.

Last few months, I have been having very simple food, I don’t even cook much because of my tummy problem, things I can eat don’t require cooking, my tummy can’t digest protein, fat etc. So what I have is only rice, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits and unsweetened yogurt. So I know what I eat.

Then I realized, I didn’t really know what I eat when I eat out. How much of MSG I had taken? How much sugar? Sometimes I don’t even know what kind of meat I am having, it’s impossible for me to imagine the animal provides the meat.

How can non-fat yogurt be so sweet? How can bread stay ok for weeks in this hot country?

How can we eat something we don’t even know what it is? How can we trust the food? Why don’t we have questions about the food?

To learn about food, Thai local market is the great place, there are a lot of dead bodies which is not yet processed, a lot of strange vegetables or fruits, and you see people working with food. Taking “civilized” kids to Thai local market would be a great way to educate kids, it tells not only about food, kids would learn about life as well.

Well…. TEDxBKK is today, btw. Jamie is not here though…

I only remember about the flower, didn’t remember the author’s name, but few years ago I discovered this novel.

In the novel, a boy called Colin made “Cocktail Piano”. Each note (key) is related to alcohol, spirits, liqueur or aroma. Forte on the pedals is for egg, other pedals are for ice, soda is trill on high notes. Amount of each material is from the length of the note.

There are automatic adjustment feature which control the amount of the cocktail in case of  a slow number was played.

It even has bug, the bug is on the pedals, when the number is very strong ‘hot’ one, cocktail piano drops omelet in the cocktail.

I really love this piano, this is just a little part of the novel, but always in my mind.

Since I became the one taking care of #spacebar at #bangspace, I have been tihnking how I can make the bar works without human… For the fridge, maybe bending machine or some kind of system to manage stock… but how about cocktail? then I thought of cocktail piano.

It doesn’t really have to be piano, it can be keyboard, or maybe DJ booth, or can be connected to media player etc, but the concept is that play a number to generate a couple of glasses of cocktail.

I have no idea how to write code for it, how to connect devices etc, but i don’t think it’s impossible….

Cocktail robot, but it’s related to music, lovely…..

We are living in this region.

We MOZO is based on Thailand, or I should say South East Asia, we are going to focus on the market here as well. Since MOZO started, for more than one year, we have been working on projects which are sent from Japan. In Tokyo we have MOZO Japan which was established by our MOZO BKK co-founder, so none of us, including me, haven’t done any sales or promotion in Thailand.

Now it’s time to start expanding to South East Asia as we are living in this region :)

Myself is not really a sales person, as I haven’t done much by myself before, but I have to turn myself into sales to feed my staff. The good thing is I love meeting interesting people and talk :) Also we have Thais as our team members, this is Thailand, their country, no reason to stop them to go on :)

We do more UI, front-end, CMS stuff, not much backend system from scratch. We do Flash, ActionScript, AIR, Flex – that kind of (some ppl call it evil though) technologies with interactive graphics, and also Ajax, jQuery stuff to make interactive interface, data visualization.

Also started working on some Android projects, iPhone apps etc.

Me, myself is more UI, XHTML/CSS + customizing existing CMSs, but as a company, as a team, we have more, it’s time to start expanding into South East Asia, I’m sure there are a lot of room to grow up.

Many of my friends here in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia etc runs their own business, and also we have well connected and open communities, which is so much fun and also very helpful for me, I am so happy to have many friends who knows much about business which i am still a beginner, thank you everybody for your advices :)

いつか誰かがやめるって言い出すんだろうな，ってことはずっと頭の片隅にはあったけれども，想像するのを後回しにしていたら，今月の頭に可愛いスタッフのひとりが辞めると言ってきた．

彼 はActionScriptメインで採用したデベロッパくん．ハードウェアがらみの知識も豊富で，JAVAとかC系とかもできる．MOZOは仕事内容が ウェブ系の他にアプリ系もあって，彼は，ウェブサイト上でなんかするASよりも，端末上で動くFlashやAIRのアプリを書く，という方で採用した人．

辞める理由は，もっとハードウェアに近いこと，ハードを制御するモノ作るとか，プロトコルいじるとか，そういうことをやらせてくれる会社からオファーがあったから．MOZOは好きだからすごく悩んだけれど，やりたい事やるからやめる，と．

好 きなことやりたい，という人を止めたくない．でも彼にはいて欲しい．可愛いスタッフが夢を追っかけているのは応援したい，やりたい事をやらせてあげられな くて申し訳ない．MOZO的にとっても損失，プロジェクトどうしよう，とか，いろいろ頭のなかでぐるぐるまわって，今月の頭はフラフラでした．

でも，彼はMOZOが嫌でやめるわけではない，というのが救い．次にやる仕事が，こんな感じでエキサイティングなんだ，楽しみなんだ，って，私にいってくれるのも救い．他のスタッフとも全然こじれてないのも救い．

辞めてもMOZOにはどんどん遊びに来るよ，と言ってくれるし，そうして欲しいと思う．新しく身につけた知識や技術をシェアしようね，あなたがいない間にMOZOも成長するから，お互いシェアしあおう，刺激しあって成長しよう，っていう話をした．

これが，建前じゃなくて，ほんとに今後も一緒に刺激しあっていけると，私は信じてる．こういうの甘いって言われるけどね，わたしはそのスタッフに関してはそうだと信じてるし，そうしたい．

会社やるってことは，人が動く，入ってきたりやめていったり，やめさせたり，そういうことに慣れていかなきゃいけない．中身が入れ替わってもMOZOはMOZOであり続けなきゃいけないし，人の流動でいいちいちショックを受けていたらキリがない．

今回はマイナスの方稿での退職じゃないから，最初は凄くショックだったけれど立ち直りもはやかった．がんばれ，って思える．

い うなれば鮭，と，もう一人の日本人スタッフがいっていた，確かに．MOZOはまだ体力がない．やりたい事ばっかやらせてあげられるわけじゃないし，案件も 偏ってる．今彼を別の会社に送り出して，MOZOではできない経験をして，そこでスキルアップをしてさらに仕事を持ってMOZOに帰ってこい，と．そのこ ろまでにはMOZOももう少し体力つけておくよ，って．

新勤務先からリファレンスの問い合わせはなかったけれど（先方からオファーしてきたらしいので，現勤務先にリファレンスなんて聞かなくてもわかってるのだろうけれど），仮に来ても，彼は優秀ですよ，と伝える，ほんとだから．

昨 夜，スタッフ全員で送別会ディナーをしてきました．辞める本人の婚約者も参加．他のスタッフのガールフレンドとかも．みんなで死ぬほどご飯をもりもり食べ て（食いしん坊ばっかり），笑って，送り出しました．MOZO1年とちょっと，今では10人位のチーム．いいチームができてきていると思う．

MOZOチームのメンバーであってくれてありがとう．がんばれよ．MOZOも頑張る．

その辞めていく彼は，来月から，プロトコルいじってからシンガポールにインストール作業に行く，というので，シンガポールのハッカースペースや，シンガポールの技術屋などを紹介しようと思います．

MOZOは，ハブとしての役目も持っていたい．私自身もそうでありたいように．

It tells how the online networking stuff is getting common and important for people. People want to be connected online even we are at night club and dancing with bunch of people you can touch, hug and kiss physically.

This is the one at the night club called Route 66 on RCA, I found it last night. They even have logo of mixi and cyworld.

I do tweet often, also I see many of my friends (especially geeks such as @thanr, @underexpose etc) tweeting, facebooking or checking-in when we are having party. Sometimes talking to each other on twitter even both of us are at the same table. I talk to my stuff on skype, even we are in a same room.

I don’t even know why I do it. When I tweet something like “at a pub having beer”, usually I don’t think of any specified person to tell, or it doesn’t mean I don’t like talking to people face to face. I love talking strangers at a pub. Do I want to keep log of myself? Or do I want somebody to join me? yes, sometimes I do tweet for inviting friends to join, but not always.

There must be reason, but I can’t figure out the reason why I do it.

For myself, I love talking to people face to face, but at the same time, love communicating people by exchanging words as text. Somehow I hate talkin on the phone, even with close friends, family or lovers. I always try to avoid making phone call, it is the last option. But it doesn’t mean I hate talking to people in person, I do love it, but it must be face to face or text base communication.

There are many way of communication. Social networking stuff is not things in person, it’s more public even if you protect your tweets. You are a one of bunch of people, some people receive your voice but sometimes it could be totally ignored by everybody – as an information, it’s the same sort of data.

There might be kind of feeling ‘if you get it, then get it, if not, leave it’. There are no commitment, no expectation or responsibility.

I ignore friends requests from strangers on online networking site, but I accept a bottle of beer from a stranger at a bar… :D

だいたい思いついたことは、できる状態であればやっちゃう方なんですが,今回は思いついたもののの先立つもの（お金）をケチってしまったばっかりにむちゃくちゃ後悔してます.

いっときゃよかった#BarcampYangon!　いまやってる.

ミャンマーのような国で,オープンソース系ITハッカーさんとかブロガーさんが大集合.なんと3000人弱登録者がいて既に1200人くらい集まっているらしい.

#barcampの性質上,誰が何についてどれくらいはなすとか,そういうことは事前にまったく分かりません.だから政府にイベントの許可とる時のアジェンダとかどうするんだろうとか,検閲当たり前の国で会場からtwitterとかfacebookとかustreamでダダモレとかできるんだろうか.ていうかそんなbandwidthあんの,とか,もう,そこにいって知りたいことだらけ.

当初はいく気満々だったんですが、格安航空のエアアジアで調べたら往復で13000バーツ.すぐそこなのに,UAで日本いくのと同じ額かよ,と思って、お金のせいにして諦めたふり.

が,今週、開催直前になって,バンコクエアウェイズでいくとコミコミ6500THBというのが判明.急遽ミャンマーの知人に連絡をして、ビザ手配のインビテーションレターを依頼.オンラインで,23日朝初,24日午後戻り,というのを予約,よっしゃ!　いくぞー,とおもっていたら,21日になって、自分の作った予約が23日発23日戻り,というものだったというのが判明,あほ.諦めました….　ビザも間に合わないし.

みんなのtweetをみてると,なんと会場にはハイスピードインターネットがあって,しかもfirwallなしでもう何でもダダモレOKらしい.

ああ,これはもうミャンマーにとっても歴史的なイベントになるはず.自分がそこにいないのが許せません.

やっぱり,やろうと思ったことはやっといた方がいい.13000バーツ使って今月カツカツでも,それでも行ってよかったって思えただろうし.やって後悔したことってあんまりない.迷ってやらないとたいがい後悔する.

あーくやしい.くやしいので,ハッカースペースに遊びにいこうと思います…
