Hallow’s End is back again for another year, starting October 18th and running until October 31st.

The Headless Horseman is now a level 85 fight only and drops ilevel 365 items. Once a day you can earn the Loot-filled Pumpkin for defeating him which might include a rare mount (The Horseman’s Reins). There is also a new companion, the Feline Familiar, which can be purchased with Tricky Treats – the currency earned for completing dailies and visiting inns throughout Azeroth, Outland and Northrend.

Brewfest is back again for another year, starting today (Spetember 20th) and running until October 5th.

Coren Direbrew is now a level 85 fight only and drops ilevel 365 items. Once a day you can earn the Keg-Shaped Treasure Chest for defeating him which might include a rare mount (Brewfest Kodo or Brewfest Ram).

Today, 19th September, is Talk Like A Pirate Day. If you’ve never heard of it or want to know how it came about, check out the website of the guys who started it all – Official Talk Like A Pirate Website. To recognise this auspicious occasion, World of Warcraft has its own in-game Pirates Day celebration.

In order to celebrate Pirates Day, talk to one of the commoners dressed in pirate grab who can be found throughout the major cities of Azeroth. When you talk to them you can ask to dress like a pirate and will receive the Corsair Costume buff, a pirate outfit that lasts for 1 hour. For more celebrations head down to Booty Bay in the Cape of Stranglethorn zone. On one of the rooftops near to the Horde Flightmaster, you will find Dread Captain DeMeza. Speak to her and share a festive drink to receive the Dread Corsair buff, a pirate outfit that lasts for 12 hours. Receiving the buff will also earn you the achievement The Captain’s Booty.

Patch 4.2 is out in the US today and will be hitting EU servers tomorrow.

Professions don’t see much of an update, so none of the leveling guides will be impacted by this patch. Some professions will see new recipes, but as I understand it, these will require raid related reputation in order to purchase them. Also, all of the existing iLevel 339 PvP recipes have been updated to iLevel 358.

Some thing that looks really cool in this patch is the Dungeon Journal. This provides more information about dungeons, such as bosses and their abilities. Here’s hoping that having this information in game will improve the quality of some PUGs.

The Midsummer Fire Festival is here again and I have just finished updating the guide with the changes for this years event.

Ahune the Frost Lord is now a level 85 fight only and drops ilevel 353 cloaks and a rare enchant (Deathfrost). Once a day you can earn the Satchel of Chilled Goods for defeating him which might include a rare staff (Frostscythe) or even rarer companion (Frigid Frostling).

There are also new bonfires in some of the new Cataclysm zones as well as the old zones that went through major changes in the Cataclysm. Bonfires have also disappeared in some zones or been moved. After getting most of the guides sorted for release 4.01, life happened and I haven’t really got anywhere near finishing the Cataclysm updates I had planned. I am hoping to start turning that around over the next few weeks. The Mining Guide has been updated today for Cataclysm levels up to 525, and others will follow as soon as possible.

Hi All,

I’ve been meaning to do some more with the site for a while, and now with the release of patch 4.0.1 and the imminent release of the Cataclysm expansion, I’m getting a bit more focused on sorting it out. I’ll be updating all the profession guides over the next week or so, so that they are up-to-date for patch 4.0.1. I’ll also be tweaking the site layout a bit, so the URLs for the guides will all change – no worries though, the old URLs will all be redirected in the background to make sure any previous links still work. As a result of the changes, all the old comments will disappear as well. I’ll make sure any useful info in them is included in the updated guides, and one or two may lead to some additional separate pages be added.
