Hokey Pokey Day!

Brought Kieran to Grand Opening of Hokey Pokey on Thursday at Millenia Walk.. I was awed at that place, it's totally different from the mainstream indoor playgrounds.. I literally felt that if kids play & grow up at Hokey Pokey will be better and mild mannered kids thn those who played rough at the typical structured indoor playgrounds..

Hokey Pokey is suitable for 6mths and abv and I believe so! No rowdy kids, alot of space to walk/crawl/roll and their baby section is really baby section compared to other playgrounds! They have alot of stimulation toys for 6mths and abv babies :D

At HP, alot of play areas for toddlers too, like ball pool with slide, kitchen area, trains area, music area, car rides area, storybooks area, jumping castle! IMO, it's a place for those parents who can't afford to buy or no space to place little tikes products and many other expensive branded toys! They even have party room for parents to hold their precious's birthday :)

I was so afraid that Kieran won't enjoy himself due to past bad experiences at the mainstream indoor playgrounds.. But he really enjoyed himself and especially stuck at the kitchen area for like 30min.. Usually his attention span is like 5min? So I'm really glad that he did enjoyed and even learnt how to play the slide on his own at the ball pit area!!! And to my surprise, he even take care of the baby doll (thinking its real baby) kept sayang and kiss her.. Zzz! I guess every monster do have soft sides.. Lol

Eventually, I signed up membership with HP! Overall u will save alot if u signed up as a member, the toys alr worth the price paying.. Hahah! And to save even more if u are a NTUC member, additional 10% off HP membership. Overall, I paid $45 (U.P $50) for a yr membership and I get 2 free entry for following visits (1 of them to be utilize only in birthday month), 6 free drink coupons for me, $50 off their birthday package and discounted rates every visit :)

I'm promised Kieran that I will bring him there twice a month at least :) And he like understand and keep "Arh arh arh" and behaved himself for awhile.. Hahaha! Hope he will enjoy the same the next visit or else I'm gg to kill him.. Hahaha... Just kidding.. I luv him too much ;)

Seafood Aglio Olio Recipe

Last week I suddenly got craving for pasta (ppl who knows me dun fancy western food), so I decided to head to market early in the morning to buy fresh prawns, scallops and other necessary ingredients.. As usual, I post my "art piece" on Instagram/FaceBook/Twitter to fish for compliments.. Hahaha! And yeah, I succeeded.. Many asked for recipe so there u go ppl :)

Ingredients
(Serves 2)

- 2 servings of pasta (about 160-180g spaghetti)
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 50g butter, divided
- 8 large prawns
- 8 large scallops
- 10 cloves garlic, peeled and sliced
- 2 chilli padi, sliced
- 30g Italian flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped (or any Chinese kind of parsley)
- salt and black pepper

Directions
1. Bring a pot of water with 1 tbsp sea salt to a boil. Cook pasta according to the timing indicated on the packet, until al dente. Drain and set aside the pasta, reserving some of the pasta water.
2. Remove the shells and veins from the prawns. Add the prawns heads and shells to a small pot with just enough water to cover them, bring to a simmer for about 10 minutes to make prawn stock. Strain the stock and set aside.
3. Heat 3/4 the butter in a sauce pan. Pan fried the prawns & scallops on both sides till golden brown and set aside.
4. Add olive oil to the sauce pan with the prawn & scallop juices and browned bits. When the oil is heated, add garlic and chilli padi. Saute till the garlic turns light brown.
5. Turn fire to minimal. The garlic will continue cooking in the hot oil on its own for a few more seconds in the hot oil, until they turn a lovely golden brown.
6. Add cooked pasta, cooked prawns & scallops, about 2 tbsp of prawn stock, chopped parsley and remaining butter (cubed) to the garlic & oil mixture. Stir to coat all the ingredients evenly. Season with salt and black pepper.

Cooking Note
1. If you are not making the prawns stock (Step 2), reserve some pasta water and add it in place of the prawn stock in the last step.

I found the recipe online and modified it to my liking.. Haha! So enjoy and have fun cooking for your love ones :D

Hahaha.. Ya ya, I know I know.. But I promise this time round I will keep my passion alive cos wanna record every shit Kieran did to me.. Wtf lol.. Jus kidding..

So happy that I finally can blog on this Xanga platform again cos ytd I read the older posts and realized that I did blogged abt piggy n mine "pak tor" times.. Something nice to remember, so my passion suddenly kicked in again & wanna record our new addition in my lil family.. *Goosebumps* But scumbag brain jus decided to forget the password again!!! And the worst part was this Xanga is connected to my old Hotmail (which was previously hacked by some idiot thinking I'm someone famous that he/she can blackmail me with my emails).. Ho seh lor, I clicked forget password link they wanna send to my old Hotmail.. I can't even.. So I started emailing Xanga customer service a lengthy post.. Hahaha! Mummies are long winded ok.. So I guessed they bth me & eventually gave me my account back! Tadah :D *successkid*

On thurs night, we actually planned to go to ButterFactory.. but e queue was crazy so we head off to Cat's friend pub to drink 1st.. when we reached Liquid Forty, dere were madness in e pub.. ppl everywhere only left seats at bar counter =.= Only thn we both realised it was eve of labour day.. so we ended up in a pub called 6 Strings Pub.. nice ambience but dun like e gals.. hahaha.. we started wit 1 bucket of Heiny but in the end had 3 buckets.. I only had 3 bottles 'cos dun really like beer..

Today woke up late 'cos it was raining cats and dogs at my area.. Damm shiok la.. Then in end was late for meeting mom in town to shop at Far East Plaza..

Then i'm so unlucky.. I'm already freaking LATE n still let me get caught in a traffic jam on PIE~!! Omfg~~
So i decided to start my narcissism since i remember to bring my cam out

Trying do the Vulcan Salute.. Haha..

So i sort of change seats to where no one is behind me and continue my photo taking addiction!!

Reached Far East Plaza, met up my grumpy mom.. Haha.. Then went to buy Shihlin Fried Chicken Cutlet to shop n eat at e same time.. Shiok ar.. Dun wanna waste time ma.. Lol..

Then my mom saw this shop selling all their dresses at $28 ONLY so my "kiasu" mom pulled me in and I'm SO glad she did that.. 'cos e dresses are really pretty n elegant.. The material n design of e dresses really worth more thn $28!!

As usual, me being inquisitive.. went to ask e salesgirls why are they selling so cheap.. They told me that actually e dresses are imported from Korea n the original price were ranged from $50 - $80 but they closing down so clearing up the stocks!! Upon hearing that, So WE practically grabbed all nice ones n tried.. wahahahaa..

Guess wad we bought like 7 of 10 dresses we've tried n even for my sis too thou she's nt there..
LOL.. Yes!! We're the Notorious Shopholic Twin~!!

Head down to SGH 'cos my uncle was admitted to hospital last week.. He fell from 2nd storey n broke his leg.. Ouch!

Due to swine flu, we are advised to wear a mask provided by SGH when we're in e hospital..
So Tada!!

But anyway.. its so freaking hot n stuffy to wear a mask walking around in SGH 'cos there no air-conditioning on normal walk areas.. Only feel abit cooler when reached e ward..

GUESS WAD~?!?!! My uncle was discharged ytd morning and no one informed us... Omfg... I texted my cousin n nagged her making me going down SGH for nth.. And e reply was she didn't expect us to go visit my uncle again.. GRRR.... I was kinda offended by her reply n i didn't bother to reply her... We head home straight away took a super long journey back and fell asleep too.. Haaa..

Finally like almost 1 hr+ of bus ride, home sweet home..

Yeah~!! After so many years of waiting, Star Trek Movie is finally up.. Do u know that this is the 11th film based on the Star Trek franchise and features the main characters of the original Star Trek series, who are portrayed by a new cast. It explores the backstories of James T. Kirk [Chris Pine] and Spock [Zachary Quinto] , before they unite aboard the USS Enterprise to combat Nero [Eric Bana], a Romulan from the future who threatens the United Federation of Planets. Woo yeah~~!!

What makes mi wanna watch Star Trek is because partly i'm a fan of this genre type of movie.. E.g. Star Wars, Spaceship Troopers, blah blah.. The other reason is Star Trek is 2009 science fiction film directed by J.J. Abrams, written by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtxman, and produced by Damon Lindelof and Bryan Burk. The 3rd reason is Star Trek 2009 had the biggest budget USD$150,000,000 as compared to other original Star Trek series..

Here some facts abt Jeffrey Jacob "J.J." Abrams [born June 27, 1966] is a :

1. 6 times Emmy award winner for writing and directing drama series [Alias and Lost] << Gosh!!
2.     2 times Golden Globe Award winner for Best Television Series [Lost] << my dad's fave show
3.    Television producer, writer, actor, composer, director, and founder of Bad Robot Productions. << so talented right??
4.    His dad, Gerald W. Abrams, is also television producer. His mom, Carol, is an executive producer.
Guess that explains where all his "talented" genes come from..
5.    1st job in the movie business started when he was 16 when he wrote music for Don Dohler's film Nightbeast.

Chris Pine as James T. Kirk, so handsome!!

"Pine described his 1st audition as awful , 'cos he couldn't take himself as a leader. Abrams did not see Pine's 1st audition, and it was only after Pine's agent met Abrams' wife that the director decided to give him another audition opposite Quinto. Quinto was supportive of Pine's casting 'cos they knew each other as they worked out at the same gym . After getting the part, Pine sent William Shatner [acted as James T. Kirk in the old original Star Trek series] a letter and received a reply containing the original Kirk's approval. Pine watched classic episodes & read encyclopedias abt Star Trek Universe, but stopped as he felt weighed down by feeling he had to "copy" Shatner. Pine felt he had to show Kirk's humor, arrogance & decisiveness", but not Shatner's speech pattern, which would have bordererd on imitation. Pine said when watching the original series, he was also struck by how would Shatner's performance was characterized by humor. Instead, Pine chose to incorporate elements of Tom Cruise from Top Gun and Harrison Ford's protrayals of Indiana Jones and Han Solo."

Zachary Quinto as Spock, my idol in Heroes

" Quinto pursued the role as he was interested in the duality of Spock's half-human Vulcan heritage, and how "he constantly exploring the notion of how to evolve in a responsible way and how to evolve in a respectful way. I think those are all things that we as a society, and certainly the world, could implement.". For the audition, he wore a blue shirt and flattened his hair down to feel more like Spock . He bound his fingers to practice the Vulcan salute, shaved his eyebrows and grew and dyed his hair for the role. He conveyed many of Spock's attributes, such as his stillness and the way Leonard Nimoy [acted as Spock in the original Star Trek series] would hold his hand behind his back. Quinto commented the physical transformation aided in portraying an alien, joking "I felt like a nerd. I felt like I was 12 again. You look back at those pictures and you see the "bowl cut" . There's no question I was born to play Spock role. I was sporting that look for a good 4 or 5 yrs." Adrien Brody had discussed playing the role with the director before Quinto was cast."

Leonard Nimoy as "old" Spock

"Nimoy reprises his role as the old Spock, who has come from the future to provide help. Nimoy befriended Quinto after cast in the role. Although Quinto watched some episodes of the show during breaks in filming, Nimoy was his main resource in playing Spock. Abrams & the writers met Nimoy at his house; Orci recalled the actor gave a " 'Who are you guys and what are you up to?' vibe" before being told how important he was to them. He was silent, and Nimoy's wife Susan Bay told the creative team he had remained in his chair after their conversation, emotionally overwhelmed by his decision after turning down many opportunities to revisit the role. Had Nimoy disliked the script, production would have been delayed for it to be rewritten. He was "genuinely excited" by the script's scope and its detailing of the characters' backstories, saying, "We have dealt with [Spock being half-human, half-Vulcan], but never with quite the overview that this script has of the entire history of the character, the growth of the character, the beginnings of the character and the arrival of the character into the Enterprise crew." " Nero, the film's time-travelling Romulan villain. Part of his past involves escaping from the Klingon prison Rura Penthe. Bana shot his scenes toward the end of filming. He was "a huge Trekkie when he was a kid",
but had not seen many of the films. Even if he were "crazy about the original series" , he wouldn't have accepted the role unless he liked the script, which he deemed "awesome" once he read it. Bana knew Abrams because they coincidentally shared the same agent. Bana improvised the character's speech patterns."

She met with Nichelle Nichols, who explained to her how she had created Uhura's background, and also named the character. Saldana's mother was a Star Trek fan and sent her voice mails during filming, giving advice on the part. Sydney Tamiia Poitier also auditioned for the part."

Eunice: "I seriously dunno which movies she acted in before.. Well, since Abrams complimented her until so wonderful.. I shall open my eyes big big & see her performance."

John Cho as Hikaru Sulu, my fave asian comedian actor in Hollywood

"Abrams was concerned about casting a Korean-American as a Japanese-American character, but George Takei [acted as Hikaru Sulu in the original Star Trek series] explained to the director that Sulu was meant to represent all of Asia on the Enterprise, so Abrams went ahead with Cho. Cho acknowledged being an Asian-American, "There are certain acting roles that you are never going to get, and one of them is playing cowboy. [Playing Sulu] is a realization of that dream -- going into space." He cited the masculinity of the character as being important to him, and spent 2 weeks fight training. Cho suffered an injury to his wrist during filming, although a representative assured it was "no big deal". James Kyson Lee, a Japanese-American, was interested in the part, but because Quinto was cast as Spock, the producers of the TV show Heroes did not want to lose another cast member for 3 months."

Lastly, Majel Barrett Roddenberry as Voice of Computer. Hey.. I think its a really important role ok!!

Googled facts abt Majel Barrett Roddenberry:

Majel Barrett Roddenberry, who died on December 18 2008 aged 76, was known as the "First Lady of Star Trek", supplying the voice of the computer on board the US Starship Enterprise and subsequently marrying the show's creator, Gene Roddenberry.

As the enigmatic unnamed first officer known as Number One in Star Trek's pilot episode, she upset executives at NBC Television, who insisted that Roddenberry should give the role to a man. She once joked that, given the choice between keeping Mr Spock (whom the network also hated) or the woman character, Roddenberry "kept the Vulcan and married the woman [because] he didn't think Leonard [Nimoy] would have it the other way around".

In subsequent episodes of Star Trek Majel Barrett (as she then was) played Nurse Christine Chapel, known for her unrequited affection for the emotionless Spock. "I never particularly cared for Christine," she noted, explaining that her "wishy-washy" character had fallen for someone "who only comes into heat once every seven years. Let's face it," she added, "this broad's a real loser."

I was quite surprised and extremely happy that baby took the effort to text me about our special day.. cos around 11pm when we're on the phone he told me that he's very tired and was going to sleep after we hang up.. And i thought that he forgot after the clock struck mid-night, it'll be our "day"..
BUT, he remembers!! he purposely stayed up till 12am and sms me.. Heee..
