Keeping it in the family, Rachel had her sister Kayleen do her makeup (Kayleen’s work can also be seen on celebs in Teen Vogue!). “We chose our color palette based on the watercolor look of Rachel’s Dress,” said Kayleen. “There was a wash of cool tones in the dress, blue, green, purple, pink so we wanted the eye, cheek and lips to all have this same watercolor sheerness to it.” To get that artistic effect, Kayleen used CHANEL Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow in Fountain, the rose gold shade in the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Spices, and CHANEL Soft Touch Eye Shadow in Slate in the inner corners of the eye. She followed up with two coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir. Then, she applied CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Rose Comete and a bit of CHANEL Glossimer in Futile. For hair, Rachel turned to Sebastian Stylist Design Team Member Thomas Dunkin. Thomas shared the step-by-step for the look with Teen Vogue:

1) Start by applying Sebastian Professional Liquid Gloss to slightly damp hair.

2) Blow dry hair straight with a large round bristle brush to give hair a smooth, polished base and voluminous texture from which to start styling.

3) Brush hair back and put in a ponytail just above the occipital bone. Secure with bobby pins.

4) Backcomb the ponytail and start to smooth the hair under using Sebastian Professional Re-Shaper hairspray, securing with bobby pins. Do this until all of the hair is tucked under and secured.

5) Apply Sebastian Professional Craft Clay to the top and sides of the head for a textured effect rather than a perfectly-groomed finish.

6) Finish the look with Sebastian Professional Re-Shaper hairspray and gently massage the whole look to give it a disheveled, modern feel.

Thanks to our web guru, Josh Bartky, and his discovery of the website AvatarizeYourself, the TeenVogue web and beauty departments took a well-deserved break and snapped some pictures (but not before the Beauty department dutifully reapplied their lipstick) so we could transform ourselves into members of the N’avi tribe! Check out our Avatars, and join in on the fun!

So I thought it would be good to take a closer look at the cellulite issue. Are you familiar with the orange peel syndrome or as its also called cottage cheese skin? For several years I thought I had cellulite but I

I vaguely remember using witch hazel back in the day, when my grandma would apply it to my skin whenever it got irritated and red. I haven’t really used it since then and I had always seen it as more of a medicinal product, so I was pleasantly surprised when I heard about the plant’s numerous skin-beautifying benefits at an event last night for Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel. I already knew that witch hazel has cleansing and soothing properties, but I assumed using it on my face everyday would make it feel dry and tight, as with other astringents. Turns out I was dead wrong: It actually helps your skin achieve moisture balance, which means it works equally well for both oily and dry complexions. Plus the 100% natural formula is super gentle, so even sensitive skin types can benefit from it.

In addition to learning about Dickinson’s toner and towelette products, I also got the lowdown on an important new project they’re launching with the Women’s Sports Foundation. Called the Tone Up Challenge, it’s a totally doable 14-day program to help whip your body and skin into tip-top shape. (And with spring just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to start getting active!) Just register at ToneUpChallenge.com and get daily exercise tips and ideas, but remember to pair your workout with a healthy diet instead of skimping on food. Take it from pro triathlete Katya Meyers (pictured above), who’s a big fan of the Tone Up Challenge–and, um, has the most amazing physique! “I did gymnastics growing up and struggled with anorexia from when I was 12 until about 15 years old. Since then, I came to realize that food is your body’s fuel. Remember: You can’t sustain and excel in any physical activity without it!”
