Here's a new sketch for you to try. This is #211 from Unscripted Sketches; don't forget to visit the site where you can see additional ideas posted by Design Team Members and well as readers who play along with us. Will that be you this week?

Buttons take center stage on this fun, quick card. (It would be even faster if you leave out the thread on each button.) All of the buttons used are from our Designer Buttons Brights Collection. The sweet little flower shaped buttons make the perfect accent for the sketch and also to coordinate with the "your special" part of the sentiment (Blessings From Heaven). Of course, what was really going through my head was the Sesame Street song that says "one of these things is not like the other…". I may have just dated myself… :)

Note: The stamped label under the buttons is our Basic Label stamp, available solo through July. It coordinates with one of the dies in our Apothecary Accents Framelits set. I hand cut the stamped image and layered it over the die cut. Since the stamp was designed to fit the framelit, I had to cut right on the border of the stamped image for the die cut to show.

RS63 Stampin' Up! Vintage Verses

Retro Sketches released another another fantastic sketch last weekend. I usually try to stick with currently available items for anything I post on my blog, but I will tell you that I went wild and pulled paper and scraps from the bin for this one. These were only hidden because I love them so… time to use them up, wouldn't you say?

I'm not sure how well you can see them, but the sketch called for a smattering of embellishments here and there. (They are shown as dots.) I used my go-to embellishment Rhinestone Basic Jewels. Earlier this week, I posted two other projects where I altered the color with alcohol-based markers. Here I left them as-is and let them shine. I love it when something is easy to use but adds a special touch!

One of our current single stamp offerings (available through July) is the one shown here, left. It was originally part of a stamp set called That's Funny. Most of my family members have a great sense of humor, so it's a set I've been able to put to a lot of use over the years.

I have enough birthday cards for this month, so I pulled out another image from that set that also pertains to many of the people in my family. We are good people, but can sometimes be a bit forgetful. The sentiment reads, "Everyone has a photographic memory… some just don't have film."

If you subscribe to my blog posts or visited yesterday, I shared that you can easily color our Rhinestone Basic Jewels with any alcohol based markers. Yesterday, I colored them green; for today's card I altered them with a black Sharpie marker. Cool, huh? It seems my "film" is in place for craft-related information :)

Note: the original sketch at Mojo Monday called for little flag banners (under where I have the jewels). I've done a little too much of that shape lately, so I switched out the flags for the end pieces of our Modern Label punch. Since you only see the end, punch one out, then cut in half for 2 shapes per punch.

Unscripted Sketches 183 meets Perfectly Preserved

REPOST. Our Perfectly Preserved stamp has remained a "carry-over" item from our Holiday and has remained available for purchase along with the coordinating Framelits set (Cannery). Alas, this set is not carrying over to our 2013-2014 Catalog, so it is only available through the end of the month. The jar image alone is so useful, I will be sad to see this set go. So here is a project shared previously, just as a little reminder of one of many sets slated to retire next week.

Our Perfectly Preserved stamp set has 14 images in it. I'm pretty sure the purple ones above are supposed to be pears, but don't they look cute as eggplants? Maybe I'll try them in a peachy yellow color next and see if they can also resemble butternut squash. Yum!

Stampin' Addicts Retiring Stamps Blog Hop 2013 Need for Speed

Welcome to another fun Blog Hop hosted by the Stampin' Addicts. This weekend, we are enjoying a last "hurrah" with some of our favorite retiring stamps. Need for Speed

Today, I'm using a guy-friendly set called Need for Speed. With two sons in the house, two brothers, lots of male cousins and a hubby who used to work in the fighter jet industry - I new this set would see a lot of ink. I'll probably have to keep this one out of the sale bin for a while :)

First is a card created using the ATV of this set along with a sentiment from Solo Para Ti (also retiring). If you like to color, you can stamp these images in black and color them in using your favorite medium. Of course, the images are detailed enough that you don't really have to. This time the image is simply stamped in Cajun Craze.

My second card makes use of the fighter jet heat embossed in Pewter (it looks a little silver-ish in the photo). The patterned paper used here is from our Print Poetry Paper Stack. I also snuck in a strip of our new Epic Day Washi tape… I couldn't help it. It was just the touch the card needed!

Last, but not least is a scrapbook page sharing the speedboat. We enjoy visiting a local restaurant called Grills. Not only is the food good (the tuna tacos shown below are delish!), but it is located directly on the riverfront so the view is wonderful. It's always on the to-do list when family visits! Another cool thing about the place is that people often arrive in boats instead of cars :)

Stampin' Up! Strawberry Slush and Crisp Cantaloupe

I hope you have enjoyed your introduction to the new In-Colors this week. I have two to share with you today. I'm pairing them instead of spending a day on each because tomorrow begins the Stampin' Addicts Retiring Stamps blog hop. It's one more chance for us to share some of our favorite retiring stamps with you before they are set aside for good. I hope you'll join us!

It is my pleasure to introduce you to Strawberry Slush and Crisp Cantaloupe, shared here with fellow 2013-15 In Color Coastal Cabana (shared earlier this week).

Strawberry Slush (the center banner) is actually a little more pink than it looks in this picture. The other two colors look about right, but for some reason this one looks a little more coral on-screen. I believe you can catch the color more accurately in the horizontal strip of Designer Washi Tape going across the card. (The tape is part of a 3 pack, also available in the new catalog.)

So now you have seen the 5 new In-Colors in our 2013-2015 Collection. I hope you like them! These fresh new colors will be available to customers beginning May 31, 2013. Stampin' Up! Pistachio Pudding Everything Eleanor

Hi Everyone!
Today, let me introduce you to a yummy new color called Pistachio Pudding. I can't say that I've ever had actual pistachio pudding… but I can tell you that this color is a welcome addition to the Stampin' Up! color palate. It's a nice and soft pastel green that is sure to be a hit with any nature related images.

Embellishments: Linen Thread, Antique Brads

Here you can see the new color both in the stamped flowers (Everything Eleanor) and in the strip of card stock running across the tag layer. I had the sewing machine handy, so I stitched the Pistachio layer over a strip of Baked Brown Sugar card stock. (I introduced you to that color yesterday; you can scroll down a post if you missed it.) I will warn you that should you choose to make a card like this you may find the need to snack on something. Pistachio Pudding, layered over Baked Brown Sugar, Very Vanilla and Early Espresso. Seriously, can we say sweet tooth? :)

Before you read any further, let me tell you that you might get hungry after reading the details of this project. I'm sharing another new color with you and the name alone is going to send someone to the pantry. Meet Baked Brown Sugar; just one of the newest In-Colors being introduced in our 2013-2014 Catalog.

So ready for the tasty details? Along with our Baked Brown Sugar card base and stamped image (bottom left), we have a nice horizontal layer of this color stitched to Pistachio Pudding. The main layer is Very Vanilla, topped with our main focal point in Crisp Cantelope (another new In-color). If that doesn't sound like something in a trifle dish I don't know what does!

p.s. I'm adding the label of "quick cards" to this card simply because it would be quick if you just left off the stitching. It's a great layout you can use over and over again!

With the release of the 2013-14 Catalog we will be releasing a new set of In-Colors. These new colors will be with us for 2 years and I think you'll really enjoy how they complement our other existing colors. Of course, they look great on their own, too. It's time to share a new sketch with you! This sketch can be used in so many ways; be sure to check the Unscripted Sketches site for a variety of projects shared by the Design Team. You can share your work there, too!

I chose to use the sketch to create a scrapbook page based on a day that my sons will not EVER let my hubby forget: the first time my older son beat his dad at Foosball!

I hope you can see the bottom photo okay. The boys are almost falling over the table, they are laughing so hard at my husband's disbelief over how quickly he was losing. The picture above it is my hubby pretending outrage. I think at one point he even claimed the table was wobbly. Ha! He still claims to be the undisputed champion, but we know better ;)

Stampin' Up! Friendly Phrases in the Floral District

Clean and Simple Stamping shared this great sketch last week (#238). Instead of pulling out image stamps, I let the bold design on a sheet of Floral District Designer Series Paper do the talking. If you like this paper, you'll want to get it ASAP - it's on the retirement list and only available while supplies last.

Until I made this card I never noticed that the smallest flower in the pattern resembles the flower in our Itty Bitty Bits stamp set. Who'da thought? And just in case you are wondering, no - I didn't fussy cut the little flowers. These stamped flowers punch out easily with a coordinating punch (listed below), so this card came together very quickly. Thanks Clean and Simple for another great sketch!

Stampin' Up! Clockworks Quick Card

Here's the stepped up version of a card we made in class recently. The original did not have the punched out gears since they are from a retired punch. And for easier mailing, we replaced these pearls with Mini Silver Brads.

Some of the ladies chose to use other sentiments for this card, including: Happy Father's Day, Happy Retirement, and the always useful "Thinking of you". All of these sentiments are available in Teeny Tiny Wishes, a super useful stamp set that - along with Clockworks - will continue to be available in our next Annual catalog. Yippee!

CC02 Stampin' Up! French Foliage

This clean and simple sketch is the second from Chic Challenges and was shared earlier this month. Clean and simple is perfect for when you just want to create without a lot of fuss and this sketch really delivered. With just neutral card stock and other simple ingredients, I was able to relax and put together a card I'll be happy to send to just about anyone.

Stamped images from Collage Curios and French Foliage replace where the side panel is drawn on the sketch. The sentiment was stamped onto the die cut along with a few more of the same images from the card front. A little bit of sponging along the edges and Stampin' Dimensionals help it to stand out a little from the background. The linen thread embellishes with an organic touch but without making the card too gender specific. And that's it - a quick card to let someone know they're on my mind. :)

Stampin' Up! Print Poetry meets Pretty Postage

As we reach the end of both our Annual Catalog and our Spring catalog, I'm realizing there are quite a few things I still want to play with before I start concentrating on the "new". For example, I still have a few sheets of our Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack. The sheets are sized perfectly for card making, so why not pair one with a stamp set that needs to see more ink?

Our Pretty Postage stamp set and coordinating Postage Stamp punch made it easy to create a fun little birthday card. Three cakes are Gumball Green (shown in the scrollwork of the paper, too). The Raspberry Ripple cake shows the sentiment included on the stamp; I dressed it up with a little punched flower... which is about as close as I get to cake decorating in real life. But that's okay, I know where I can purchase pretty and tasty cakes. I'll stick to inking up stamps ;)

Stampin' Up! Collage Curios Trust God

Our nation has undergone some horrific events lately. In the midst of it all, I've been inspired by the sight of so many people jumping in to help strangers and neighbors in times of need. Even when it was scary to do so. Thinking about this, I was drawn to a sentiment in our Trust God stamp set which shares a good reminder by the Reverend Billy Graham: "God has given us two hands - one to receive with and the other to give with."

Stampin' Up! Pennant Parade Quick Card

There are three triangular images in our Pennant Parade stamp set that make great little flags and trees. But this week, I was looking through a recent Paper Crafts magazine and saw a card by Agnieszka Malyszek that used triangles to create a simple but lively background. What a quick but fun way to create a card!

How this list works: if you see the name of a stamp set, that means the stamp set is retiring. The item number listed is for the English version of this set (one line for Wood Mount, a separate line for Clear Mount). If you see ESP or FRA (or both) listed next to the set's name, that means that the set is also currently available in those languages. They will all retire.

Stampin' Up! Sassy Summer Salutations Quick Card

Just one more day until our retirement list is posted but first - as promised - here's another quick card idea!

Need a quick card to say Hello or Congrats? Grab your favorite colors, a border stamp, one image stamp and a sentiment and you can make this one in just a few easy steps.

You can eye-ball the placement of your images, but I definitely recommend using a Stamp-a-ma-jig (shown below) for even placement. For example, the border image running along the bottom of the card is not as wide as the card. The SAMJ made it easy to stamp it straight in the first place and line up a second image so that it looks like one seamless strip. I also used it to place the circles and sentiment exactly where I wanted them.

Stampin' Up! Oh, Hello Quick Card

I have a thing for quick cards this week. We're nearing the end of the school year and my brain is not quite engaging with "today" but with events scheduled tomorrow, next week, this summer and - oh my gosh… is my baby really headed for high school next fall? But who said you have to create complicated to make something worth sending, anyway?! So, in the spirit of quick, here's the first of several quick cards. Be sure to check back this week for at least two more ideas :)

Isn't this fun? Just one stamp used repeatedly and with colors from the same color family. Easy, peasy but oh, so cute!

*Tip: use a tiny hole punch on the edges of the card stock to keep the Linen Thread from slipping up or down the card.

Freshly Made Sketches released another great sketch this week. I depended heavily on Designer Series Paper to follow the sketch, then pulled out some scraps of paper and embellishments to finish it off. I really like how this came out and so did a dinner guest last night. She happily accepted it so she can send it on to a friend :)
