As much as we hate missing a show, some times it happens, and sometimes news doesn’t. On the bright side, we will be back next week with 100% less Josh! It won’t just be the Richard show though. Microsoft has been filling the newswires with a plethora of information about Windows Media Center in Windows 8. How much of it helped to clarify the situation, and how much of it just made matters more confusing? Although Josh and Richard couldn’t get Episode 170 recorded last week, they managed to get the job done this week. Ben Wade, one of the newest contributors to the DMZ joined them to discuss his home theater and his recent article about the perfect home theater remote control. The rest of the news included Comskip now supporting WTV files, Apple’s latest iPad and Apple TV, along with Dish finalizing pricing and availability details for their Hopper DVR. Richard also dug in to the problem surrounding how to effectively archive our abundance of digital media in such a way as to make it useful and discoverable in the future. No Entertainment 2.0 This Week

The moment we’ve all been waiting for since Microsoft released the Windows 8 Developer Preview finally hit! We now have the Windows 8 Consumer Preview, and we’ve had about a week to play with it. Guess what? Media Center is in there, despite all of the rumors to the contrary! We take a closer look at all of the entertainment features in the new operating system and see how they stack up to what we know and love in Windows 7 Media Center. There was also some interesting information released about Netflix this week. May we start to see the online streaming service integrated into set-top-boxes provided by cable companies? Maybe not, considering their VoD services are being destroyed by the streaming giant. We wrap up the show looking at a plethora of updates to the mobile apps for MyMovies. This week on Entertainment 2.0 Josh and Richard are joined by the latest addition to the DMZ team: Chris Barnes. The three of them tried to help some listeners to start the show off. After that Josh (of course) covered the latest Windows Phone news from Mobile World Congress before getting to all of the Windows Media Center news for the week. Richard discovered a service called vuPlan.TV that promises to help you find TV that you might actually want to watch. Just before recording a listener in the chat tipped the guys about a new release of HandBrake with WTV support. Then Chris talked about his app, ReLaunch, that helps to make streaming video sites more accessible from Media Center. Silly little holidays like Valentine’s Day can’t stop Josh and Richard from recording another episode of the Entertainment 2.0 podcast! As usual, the show was started with more great listener feedback before the guys jumped into all the latest news. Windows Media Center users can now use the Kinect for Windows to control their HTPC, and they also might not be losing Media Center in the Windows 8 Consumer Preview. Of coures there was more Windows 8 news to discuss. This week we’ve seen more user experience changes. Richard is the UX guy. We find out if he thinks the new changes are good or not. The show was closed out with the announcement that another CableCARD DVR has bit the dust.
