Richard is gone this week, but Chris Barnes stepped up to help Josh cover all the latest Microsoft entertainment technology news. Microsoft has released another firmware update for the Surface on April’s Patch Tuesday. Nokia has also released their streaming music app for Windows 8/RT. Nokia also appears to be on the verge of releasing a variant of the Lumia 920 on Verizon. Microsoft is also rumored to be supporting 1080p displays in Windows Phone 8 by the end of the year. Josh and Richard are back, and this episode has significantly less listener feedback to cover. The first topic on the show is the big announcement from the Media Browser. It’s a Windows Media Center plugin that the guys have been using for years, but the team is making a huge shift with the next version. There’s also been an update to very popular Total Media Theater program that many use to play Blu-ray discs on the home theater PCs. Josh has a look at some impressive cross-platform gaming in Skulls of the Shogun. Plus a hacker has found a way to get non-certified DLNA devices to play nicely with Windows 8. Google has also decided to at least extend support for Windows Phone, although not Windows 8. Richard discovers that yet again, VUDU is the only company that can make UltraViolet usable.
