Samsung Announced Galaxy A5 and A3

The famous smartphone developer made an announcement of two new devices today, the Galay A5 and A3. These thinnest smartphones are metal unibody devices which are 6.9 and 6.7 mm thick respectively which are available in six different colors.

Talking about the specifications of the phone, both of them are powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and 16 GB of internal memory which can be expanded upto 64 GB. These phones have 5 Megapixel of front facing camera and run on latest version of android, the kitkat 4.4.4.

The Galaxy A5 has 5 inch 1280*720 super AMOLED display and 13 MP rear camera, while the A3 version has 4.5 inch 960*540 display and 8 megapixel rear camera. A5 has 2GB RAM and 2300 mAh battery, while A3 has 1GB RAM and 1900 mAh battery.

Both these phones will be available for sale in china from first week of November 2014, other markets will launch the products soon.

HTC finally stepped further in the Indian market by releasing HTC One (E8) & HTC Desire 616 on 11th July. The polycarbonate body giant HTC One (E8) is a variant of One (M8), with the only difference in the material of the body. One M8 sports a metal body. HTC has left no string untied in holding the Indian market with its sales of Smartphones. What people love most about the Taiwanese company is their catering to people of all the classes. Over the past few months, it has released both top-notch phones as well as some middle range phone. No wonder, HTC is blooming. HTC One (E8)

The One M8 variant is available at 34,900 INR and boasts a dual curve design. The company claims, the phone to fit naturally in the hand at any position. Google launched the all new Android L OS at l/O last month and immediately released the developers preview so that you can try it on your devices. However you don't need to be an expert to Install the L software, all you need to have is a Google Nexus 5 or Nexus 7 tablet with you. The developers preview are only available for these nexus devices and you can easily install it by following some simple steps. I will show you how to update your nexus device with this latest operating system, you can get the SDK from official developers website.

Let me tell you that this is only the preview version of the Operating system and contains may bugs. Google too warns the users that this may harm to your Android devices due to bugs and defects. So you should proceed at your own risk. Follow the steps and Install the Android L on your smartphone.

1] Backup First

As this is not the stable version of Android L OS and thus may contain errors and bugs. So it is suggested to backup your files before proceeding further. Once you have the backup, you may recover all the data if something goes wrong after Installation.

2] Things you will require to Install the software OS

You need the following things to install Android L on your device. Make sure you have all of them before going further.

The Android SDK. You can easily download the Android SDK by clicking here.
The Android L preview factory image for your Nexus 5/Nexus 7 devices that can be downloaded from here.
A software that works with archived files, for eg. 7-Zip or WinRAR.

It is recommended to store the Android L preview factory image in a folder that is easily accessible.

How to Install Android L OS

Now Install the archiver and the Android SDK tools and open the Android tools manager and select the following items to download and Install.

Android SDK platform tools. This contains the tools need for upgrading.
Google USB drivers which contains drivers useful for your Nexus device.

Now open the folder where Android SDK platform tools are located. Here i have saved them in C:|Program Files (X86)/Android/android-sdk/platform-tools and copy the following files to the root folder.

Now its time for some extraction. Extract the Android L preview factory image in the same location, that is the Root folder. A new folder will be created inside the root folder, the name of this folder depends on the device. Copy all the contents from this new folder and paste them in the Root. Now we need to install correct drivers for Nexus 5/ Nexus 7. Following steps will help you out through this.

Connect your Nexus device to the PC, make sure you power it off.
Turn On your device in fastboot mode. To enter in fastboot mode you will have to press either of the two combinations available. Either press volume down+power button or volume up+volume down+power button and you will reach the fastboot mode.
Now go to Computer->Properties->Device manager and identify your device.
Right click on your device and select update driver software. Now browser 'my computer' for your driver software.
Select 'Let me pick form a list of device drivers on my computer.'
From Have Disk... option manually install the android_winusb.inf driver (in my case, its location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\extras\google\usb_driver). Accept any prompts that may appear.
Select the Android ADB Interface option when given the option. Accept any prompts that may appear.

Now since you have followed all the above steps, your PC is now ready to properly communicate with the Nexus device. Inorder to check this, enter fastboot mode and open a command prompt window in the root folder. If all the divers are installed correctly you will see the response in the first window below.

Follow these steps to Install Android L now

Connect your Nexus device to the PC in fastboot mode, if you have not done so already.

Open a command prompt in the Root folder.

(If you have already unlocked the bootloader, you can skip past this step.) Use the fastboot oem unlock command to unlock the bootloader. A prompt will show up on your Nexus device; use the volume keys to select Yes and press the power button to validate. This command will erase all personal data from the device.

Use the flash-all.bat command to perform a clean install of the Android L preview. Alternatively, you can also open the file with the same name from the Root folder.

Optional: use the fastboot oem lock command while in fastboot mode to re-lock the bootloader. This will not alter the state of the data stored on the device. I recommend keeping the bootloader unlocked, at least during your time of testing this build.

Done, you device now has the latest Android L OS Installed. Just be careful about the bugs and errors as this is only the preview version and not the stable one. However you can always go back to your KitKat version by following the same steps, just replace the Android L factory image by KitKat factory image.

The site too lists a 3D performance graphics for the Mega 2 while the model number goes like SM-G7508. Taking a closer look at the leaked specs we came to know that the new model listed on the benchmark has a 1.2 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Quad Core processor and Adreno 306 Graphics. It thus shall become the foremost Smartphone to have a 64-bit processor.

The device has a 1.8GB RAM and an internal storage of 8GB out of which only 5.1 is available to use- thus carving one weak spec. The display is 5.9-Inch long with a resolution of 1280 x 720.

Samsung finally reveals Galaxy S5 mini with Fingerprint and Heart rate sensor

So finally, the wait is over now as the famous Smartphone Company Samsung launched the smaller edition of its flagship device Galaxy S5. After the launch of Galaxy S5 five months before, there was huge hype about the mini version of the Smartphone- Galaxy S5 Mini. According to Samsung, the phone will hit the market in mid July period and will begin shipping soon next month.

Currently there is no information out about the pricing or market availability. All we know until now is about the device looks and specifications. However, “the price will go on the web soon”, said Samsung.

It features IP67 certification for its screen, a heart rate monitor on rear side, an ultra power saving mode and a fingerprint scanner. The IP67 rating makes the phone dust and water-resistant.

The phone is powered by Exynos 3 chipset with a Quad-Core Cortex A7 processor running at 1.4GHz and 1.5 GB of RAM. It also has a Mali-400 GPU, which enhances the computing speed of Galaxy S5 mini. The device has 8 MP rear camera along with a front camera of 2.1 MP to take some amazing “selfies”. It will run on latest version of Android OS- the KITKAT 4.4.

The phone weighs 120 grams, quite heavier than the predecessor that may be due to an increased internal storage of 16GB and a higher capacity battery of 2100 mAh.

The device will go on the floor for sales first in Russia in the primary week of July. It will then be available worldwide. However, the exact release date is still unknown. “Seeing the overwhelming response of 10 million sales that S4 mini got last year, we were encouraged to launch this device”, said a Samsung official. The price of Galaxy S5 mini is expected to be less than 30,000 INR. However, no conclusion can be made about the pricing. Well here is something fascinating coming all the way from Seattle. The wallstreet journal and tech blogs have reported the launch of a three dimensional Smartphone by Amazon. After its 50 seconds mysterious video going viral, speculations are loud that this online retailer is now with something grand. The video shows people looking downwards at something, trying to look from varied angles. Amazon.com has announced a meet in Seattle to he headed by the CEO Jeff Hezos.

A 3D interface that doesn't require special glasses could have a lot of uses. Like, when shopping online, you could pull up a 3D image of sneakers or a jacket and see all of the features easier, suggests Bill Menezes, principal research analyst at Gartner. Another possibility: you could scan your living room to make a 3D rendering. Then, when you are out furniture shopping, take a picture and digitally insert the product into the rendering to see if it fits.

"You could see 'Oh that's how that purple couch looks in the bedroom, I think I'll buy it,' and you avoid buyer's remorse," says Ramon Llamas, research manager of research firm IDC's mobile phones team.

2) Enhanced games

Amazon has spread its roots into the gaming ring. No wonder it has an amazing Amazon Game Studio and video game offerings on its new streaming device, Amazon Fire TV.

"A phone could be a way to help them potentially push more on the game front," says CRT Capital analyst Neil Doshi. The 5.9 Inches of huge display is bigger than the predecessor by almost 0.4 inches- this makes the phone different from all devices. It has 157.9x1.9x8.3 HD resolution with an excellent screen quality. However, the colour reproduction is not as rich and vibrant as compared to the Note 3. Nevertheless, it does not mean that the colour scheme is excessively poor. It is Decent and it is good.

Design

When it comes to Design, the LG G Pro 2 is thinner and lighter than all the previous LG flagship devices. This makes the phone easier to handle than most big screen devices. The device comes in a plastic construction that makes it lighter in weight; also, a lot of hard work is done by LG for the design. This gives the phone an attractive and stylish look.

Similar to the G2, this phone has no key present on the sides, but the key is present on the back panel of the phone. This makes the Phablet easy to operate even with one hand unlike, Note 3 and HTC one Max. The phone weighs only 172 grams though it has such a big screen, which is the next best thing about the phone.

Hardware

LG G Pro 2 ranks top when it comes to the hardware. It has the best hardware as compared to other phones in the same price range. The phablet has 5.9-inch 1080p HD display, 2.3 GHz quad core snapdragon 800 Processor, 3GB RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. You can also add external memory card up to 64 GB in the card slot. It also has a 13 MP rear camera and 2.1 MP front camera. It runs on 3200 mAh battery. Connectivity options like 2G, 3G, WI-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth, and Infrared are available to connect with nearby devices.

Operating System

Talking about the software and user Interface of the phone, the LG G Pro 2 runs on Latest version of Android-KITKAT 4.4 and hence it enhances the quality of the software. The multitasking option enables users to open two different apps on the same screen; this feature is just like the Galaxy Note devices. The guest mode permits other users to use only those apps, which you have approved; this prevents guest users from accessing other personal apps and softwares.

The 3200 mAh battery can easily support the phone for one whole day even if you are an excessive internet user or play many games. On standby mode, the battery will run for more than two days.

Final words about the phone

Apart from couple of bugs, there are no cons of the device. Keeping this aside, the device comes with a unique design, solid build quality, a great camera, and some of the most advanced specifications you want to see in a flagship Smartphone. This is my personal favourite among all the LG Smartphones and is surely ahead of Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The phone costs 51,000 INR in India and is much cheaper than many other phones with same or relatively less features. Sometimes the internet speed is low due to slow DNS servers. Changing the DNS servers can surely increase your browsing speed.

3] Always use Internet Download Manager for Downloading

IDM (Internet Download Manager) is a third party software which helps to increase your Internet speed. It offers great features like Pause and resume downloads, Boost download speed, Download YouTube videos etc. So if you are using any other software for downloading, you should instantly switch to IDM.

4] Always Prefer Ethernet

Always prefer using an Ethernet connection over WI-Fi connection because using WI-Fi causes significant data loss during transmission itself. So even if you have a WI-Fi modem or router, establishing connection using Ethernet cable is much suitable and efficient.

5] Avoid using multiple devices over the same connection

It is advisable that do not run multiple devices using the same internet connection. Because when you connect more than one device to any active internet connection, then respective speed is divided among the devices using the connection. So you might not get a good speed over one device.
