<description>A few of you may be getting the idea that some of the articles in the "How to Beat High Fuel Prices" series are taken straight from the web site. And your suspicions are entirely correct.

On top of that, new information presented in this series will become part of the site after its introduction in the blog.

Why use information already on the site? Simple. Virtually one hundred percent of visitors to most informational web sites (including this one) go to the site for a single piece of information.

Even regular readers of the massive Wall Street Journal typically pick only one or two topics to read; and leave hundreds of pages untouched every day.

So, since fuel economy is becoming increasingly important to all of us, I'm presenting the site fuel economy pages as a weekly installment in my blog. I hope the information is as valuable for you as it has been for me.

Article 3 continues with the Five Fuel Friendly Fundamentals. The Second Fuel Friendly Fundamental states that: Your car wastes the most fuel when. . .

    <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/EnergyEvents/~3/5kgx48BIhXw/how-to-improve-gas-mileage.html</link>
<description>As you saw in our last article, there are a number of ways to use carpooling as a simple yet powerful way to beat high fuel prices. But carpooling is just the tip of the price busting ice berg.

There are hundreds of energy web pages loaded with countless tips about increasing gas mileage. You could spend endless hours going through those sites trying to digest what seems to be an endless array of dos and donts. I know, Ive done just that.

As I tried to put all of that info into some kind of easy-to-digest order, I noticed that the information seemed to fall into just a few specific categories. So, to simplify things, I condensed that mass of seemingly random information into five easy to remember categories.

At first glance, those categories may seem a bit simplistic, but fundamental principals are written to be simple, and reveal important truths.

The Five Fuel Friendly Fundamentals create easy to remember categories. As you get into them, you will see more and more easy ways you can apply those fundamentals to your search for ways to beat high fuel prices.

Carpooling, as you will see, is actually part of The First Fuel Friendly Fundamental, which states that. . .

<description>"Slugging" is a term used to describe a unique form of car pooling found in the Washington, DC area. It's unique because people commuting into the city stop to pick up other passengers even though they are total strangers! However, slugging is a very organized system with its own set of rules, proper etiquette, and specific pick up and drop-off locations. It has thousands of vehicles at its disposal, moves thousands of commuters daily, and the best part, its FREE!

<title>NEW SERIES - HOW TO BEAT HIGH FUEL PRICES</title>
    <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/EnergyEvents/~3/sfy5W-qq3Zc/energy-blog.html</link>
<description>Each of us who have the good fortune to be born into free, industrialized countries, have been born into economies that require far more energy to operate than third world countries. We didn't design our economies to be the way they are. But we do have to deal with them on a day-to-day basis and, hopefully, prosper.

We've heard far too much about how, as Americans, we are somehow a nation of energy gluttons stealing resources from future generations and from the rest of the world. And we've heard endless tirades about what we need to sacrifice because of high fuel prices and supposedly low supplies.

As frustrating as this situation is, there is something you can do about it. In fact, there are a lot of things you can do about it.

In the coming weeks, we'll look at how you can put less fuel in your car, often a lot less, and keep more of your money in your pocket.

Before we go any further, I want to assure you right here and now that we will NOT discuss anything that requires heroic efforts or sacrifices on your part.

So forget any notions about what you may have to give up or what kind of painful ideas we'll be discussing. Instead, get ready to focus on developing a winning approach to energy consumption that allows you to enjoy life to its fullest.

In the upcoming series we'll show you a wealth of ways to save both fuel and money. Most of the things we'll discuss are free. Others are low cost maintenance items that you need anyway, but you'll discover better products that aren't widely known.

So, we'll be talking about your car, the one you own now; not some pricey future-car that is supposed to get 100 mpg +. As you start applying the ideas you see over the coming weeks, you'll become a better manager of your energy assets.

You'll also keep more of your money in your pocket. Then, if enough of us do the same things, fuel prices will be forced to drop, and they could drop dramatically.

How effective are the methods we'll discuss? It depends on the individual but, on average, most folks can, without buying any radical new technologies or spending their life on a bicycle, expect to reduce their fuel expenses by 30 to 40, or even more. And that's BEFORE we look at new technologies.

In the long term, new technologies are certainly part of a permanent cure for high fuel prices.

But in the short term, conservation and improved old technologies can have a huge impact on fuel consumption, and that impact can happen now.

The first installment in the series: A Different Kind of Carpooling - How to Cut Your Travel Expenses to Work by 75.

    <title>SO, WHERE'S THE NEWS??</title>
    <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/EnergyEvents/~3/-wU2VGRzSEw/energy-blog.html</link>
<description>After doing some in depth research, I've decided to make a major change in the Energy Events Blog.

For most of us, energy news items, while interesting, are of little value. And value is what I hope this web site is all about.

Rather than focusing on new energy products that may or may not become important items in the future, I am going to focus on the big energy problems we face today.

The central focus of this blog in the coming months will be fuel prices, the dollars you and I pay at gas pumps everywhere, and what we can do to beat those prices.

I will start posting within a week or two at most. I'll continue to include a few energy news releases, but the big focus will be on what we can do to beat high fuel prices and achieve energy independence sooner, rather than much later.

We are closer to that long sought independence than most folks realize, so please stay tuned.
