#5 on SHOOT’s Top Ten Spot Tracks

Endless Noise’s work on the Urban Ministries PSA “Family” was recently featured on SHOOT Magazine’s Top Ten Spot Tracks chart. Our arrangement/recording of Marketa Irglova’s “The Hill” from the film Once (the score for the commercial) was listed at #5 on the chart. We’re honored and excited to be featured on SHOOT’s Top Ten – especially for such a meaningful project.

EN Teams with McKinney for Urban Ministries

Last month, Endless Noise had the pleasure of working with our friends from McKinney on a PSA for Urban Ministries of Durham (UMD) – a community-based organization that provides resources and services to people in need in the Durham area. McKinney’s campaign to raise homelessness awareness crosses many mediums including print, online and television where Endless Noise was able to lend a hand. The song chosen for the commercial was “The Hill,” composed by Market Irglova from the film “Once.” Irglova granted UMD permission to use the song and it was Endless Noise’s job to re-record and arrange the song to fit the spot, replacing the vocals with a cello (played by our good friend David Low).

The two :30 spots, directed by Johnnie Semerad, are titled “Veteran” and “Family” and were filmed locally in Durham. The commercials use stop-motion animation to depict the bustling streets of Durham. This footage acts as a stark contrast to the tiny motionless figures that the camera zooms in on over the course of the spot which are eventually recognized as a homeless man (”Veteran) or a homeless mother and child (”Family).

We are thrilled that the guys over at McKinney thought to get us involved for such a worthwhile cause and couldn’t be more pleased with the final spot.

This music is not for sale. We at Endless Noise declare that all music found here is free and unrestrained in its natural state of availability. We also declare that this music shall and must never be directly sold or used for commercial purposes and thereby remains free of any and all ownership imposed by human fiat and device. Music is ephemeral in nature and demands constant interpretation and reimagination. We believe this can only occur when there is an understanding amongst people that a common goal and a common good exists for the purposes of expanding the breadth and depth of human arts. We further believe that the artistic experience comprises a vital part of human existence and must be nurtured and encouraged by and for all people.

For these reasons we humbly restate that this music is not for sale. Why? Because it already belongs to everyone. Thank you.
