The Cost of College

College is back in session and for most of my friends that means more debt. Yes, I said it MORE DEBT! Years ago, (perhaps one might call those days the good ol days) the expense of going to college was justified. Why you ask? Because when you got out of college four years later there were actually jobs in your degree area.
Now today that is not the case. Most people who graduate college seem to be heading straight for minimum wage jobs. Over qualified pizza pie flippers. Is it there fault? No not at all! Yet it is becoming scary that your average 23 year old fresh out of college has over $50,000.00 in debt. A debt that can not be eliminated by bankruptcy no matter how hard he or she tried. Didn't know that one did you?
Well a little bit of information for the world. Student loans will not be wiped out if you file bankruptcy; you still have to pay them.....
So this is the state of our country as of Today.
We have a President in office that doesn't seem to mind spending money this country doesn't have. The new generation of students we will say 23 to 35 are looking for jobs in their degree area and cant find them. Which leads to an high unemployment rate.
The people who would be spending money, investing and starting new businesses cant because O why? The banks wont loan to people with bad credit or TO MUCH DEBT! So we can forget about the budding tech genius with an innovative Idea fresh out of school pursuing it. We are fighting two wars. President Obama wants government health care..... (I bet he intends on never having to use it) But I'm sure it is fine for "everyone else." And on top of all this and many other problems more numerous than the sand that blankets the beach. We have people in America that are looking to take God out of everything!
Really people, in the midst of all this chaos I don't think it is such a great Idea to take God out of anything! Perhaps we should be going back to our roots and letting HIM into our lives.
That is the only way these problems can get truly fixed.

*With God all things are possible*-Matthew 19:26 There once was a man who had nothing for his family to eat. He had an old rifle and three bullets. So, he decided that he would go out hunting and kill some wild game for dinner. As he went down the road, he saw a rabbit. He shot at the rabbit and missed it. The rabbit ran away.
Then he saw a squirrel and fired a shot at the squirrel but missed it. The squirrel disappeared into a hole in a cottonwood tree. As he went further, he saw a large wild "Tom" turkey in the tree, but he had only one bullet remaining. A voice spoke to him and said, "Pray first, aim high, and stay focused.

However, at the same time, he saw a deer which was a better kill. He brought the gun down and aimed at the deer. But, then he saw a rattlesnake between his legs about to bite him, so he naturally brought the gun down further to shoot the rattlesnake. Still, the voice said again to him, "I said, 'Pray, Aim high, and Stay focused." So, the man decided to listen to God's voice.

He prayed, then aimed the gun high up in the tree, and shot the wild turkey. The bullet bounced off the turkey and killed the deer. The handle fell off the gun, hit the snake in the head, and killed it. And, when the gun had gone off, it knocked him into a pond. When he stood up to look around, he had fish in all his pockets, a dead deer, and a turkey for his family to eat.

The snake (Satan) was dead simply because the man listened to God. Moral of the story: Pray first before you do anything, aim and shoot high in your goals, and stay focused on God. Never let others discourage you concerning your past. The past is exactly that, "the past." Live every day one day at a time, and remember that only God knows our future. Do not look to man for your blessings, but look to the doors that only He has prepared in advance for you in your favor. Wait, be still, and patient: keep God first, and everything else will follow.

Success

Well for me the word Success is a complicated word. It is a word that is highly subject to ones perception. The dictionary says success is ("The favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors. 2. the attainment of wealth, position, honors or the like.") But for me it is accomplishing the things God has told me to do. It is living the life God has set for me since the beginning and not just existing in a world full of sin.

To have success as I understand it one does not have to be a warrior but rather a believer in Christ. To truly succeed and be victorious you have to die to yourself, leave your old sinful ways behind and live for God, so that the Holy Spirit can dwell in your heart.

I cant say yet at my young age what my success is. Because success and being victorious go hand and hand I feel that I will only know and understand my success When I hear from the mouth of God “Well done”.

Matthew 6:19-21, “ Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

This story takes place not in a Country or state, nor city or small town, but in the heart of a young man who longs to return home, but is plagued by a monster who tries relentlessly to stop him.
“No! No! Away from me you heinous beast,” Tristan says as the monster whispers in his ear the plans he had to stop him. Your chains of darkness will not bond me anymore. I will not let you win! The monster, which has seven faces and seven voices, begins to laugh and snarl.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT! Are you going too take your right hand and strike me? Are you going to get up from your bed and send me to the grave? My slain is many. I have brought down the strong man and warrior; Yes, kings and princes alike. I come like a thief in the night, at an hour no man knows nor expects.
Quiet! Tristan yells aloud at the top of his lungs as he begins to weep. Just stop! I know my friend will be here to save me, you just wait. The monster walks out of the darkness, reveals one of its faces, and begins to speak with a soft feminine voice.
O Tristan, why so sad? Why so upset I thought you use to love me? All the days of your youth, you called out my name, “Luxuria(Lust), Luxuria(Lust).” When the sun surrendered to the moon and night fell upon the city. Don’t you remember the street corners, the women with the adulterous look on their faces? How you loved them and me. From one to another you went, with me on your right side. Now you try to rebuke me?
If it makes you feel better, I will listen to your rebuke and leave. I will go back to the darkness from which I came. But surely the next face you will find hard to rebuke; For there was a time in your youth that you loved him also. The monster turns his face again and Tristan braces himself for the worse.
“Remember me Tristan,” the monster says with a strong man’s voice. My name is Gula(Gluttony). Remember how you loved me? I was with you when your mother died; when you had neither friends nor people who cared for you. I offered you drink after drink. Massive amounts of mind-altering drugs, lots of food until your stomach was bursting. NOW YOU HATE ME! How could this be?
Tristan opens his mouth but the monster quickly silences him. It is my turn to speak. After all those times you had your mouth open gobbling food excessively I think you could keep it closed. Yet I will not stay neither, but heed your rebuke for in your heart I know you hate me now.
The monster turns again and reveals a beautiful face covered in fine jewels and gold. Tristan I know you love me, my name is Avaritia(Avarice). That is why you are still my slave. I allured you with my beauty. You made a covenant with me in those days and worshipped me. Though I had you in chains of darkness you seem not too care. AS LONG AS I GAVE YOU BLOOD DIAMONDS AND PRECIOUS- “NO!” Tristan says angrily. I escaped you a long time ago. You can’t hold me here any longer! You wait! When I leave this bed, I will send all seven of you into the Abyss.
At that the monster revealed a fourth face and a fifth face which spoke with a strong harsh tongue.
My name is Acedia(Sloth), and my friend here is named Ira(Wrath). We were both with you for a long time, in your days of college and drunken nights; when you picked fights with the poor and weak; Those days when you bummed at your parents house and slept all day without lifting a finger to help!
Looks like much has not changed! Tristan your still angry and lying in the bed; Just like your college day’s hahahaha! Tristan looks at the faces, and screams, “My friend will be here shortly and when he comes he will deliver me from this darkness!”
NOT IF WE CAN HELP IT! The monster reveals two more faces as the others fade into the darkness. Remember us Tristan! My name is Invidia(Envy) one of the faces said with a jealous tone. Yea, and my name is Superbia(Pride) the other face said with great pride.
You chased us both at the same time. You were like an adulterer with us. You laid with Superbia(Pride), then at night you came and laid with me. Now you say we can’t drag you down with us. Don’t you get it? You have done it all! You are one of us, if not all of us! Come Tristan the chains of darkness we have on you cannot be broken. Just- NO NO NO! TRISTAN SCREMAS AND BEGINS TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE. The nurses rush into Tristan’s room.
We are going too lose him. Quick we need to stabilize him. One of the nurses’ rush out the room to get supplies but when she returned Tristan body lay lifelessly on the bed. He is gone one of the nurses said as she pulled a sheet over him. I guess his friend finally came to take him to Heaven like he has been screaming for the past hour or so. Yea I guess so another nurse responds softly. In Paradisum(Heaven) he use to say. Yea in Paradisum(Heaven) Christ have mercy.

Man, to be honest I have recently been having an eternal struggle. The struggle of not just waiting on the Lord, but also trusting what He said will come to pass. A couple weeks ago I know God was sending me messages. Not just directly, but through my friends, family and even at church; but me being human and hard headed; I choose foolishly not to actively listen and make up my own super critical analysis of what’s going on and how I feel things should be going.
To make a VERY long story a little short 2 days ago God did something for me to let me know he is TRULY in control. That the messages and bible verse that people kept bringing to me was true. I do not want to get into detail about what exactly He did, but I say to all the reader’s, “God is an ON TIME GOD.” He delivers right when He is suppose to! He never shows up early and definitely NEVER SHOWS UP LATE! He shows up right when you need Him the most. By His foreknowledge of a plan already written for your life it is HE and HE alone who can only do this.
At times, this can be frustrating for me because I am an early person. I want things done before they appear to get out of control. I think that is human nature to always say sooner is better in most cases; but then how would my trust and faith in God grow? Well I just want to leave the readers with this verse that God gave me.

Habakkuk 2:3- “For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.”

God is in Control

In today’s economic turmoil and world chaos starting with the beginning of the election in 2008, one of the most common words in Barack Obama’s campaign was CHANGE. After his election into office, the word HOPE quickly replaced change.

So I ask everyone, exactly what are we placing our hope in? If you go out today and ask people on the street where they have placed their hope, you get multiple responses. Some say they have placed their hope in Barack Obama, others Barack Obama and his administration, some say in the people of the United States and others sometimes don’t have an answer which is followed by the response, “I just hope someone can fix the mess we are in.”

Now this is sad! Sad because no one has really said they have placed their hope in God. Since when is God no longer good enough? Is his Son Jesus Christ a person that no one cares or chooses not to come to anymore in the midst of these perilous times? I want you to consider where you place your hope.

Barack Obama is a mortal man, whom in my opinion, is not experienced and lacks the wisdom to handle our current situation, not to mention the problems abroad. His administration, though having a couple experienced members whom I feel can help certain situations, are “hoping” every night that each new law or move they make will fix the problem we have now.

Is this not scary? Most people are placing their hope in MEN. The same men whom are unsure if what they are doing will FIX the mess we are in. Same goes for those who place their hope in the people of the United States. You are depending on PEOPLE—PEOPLE that can stoop to new lows if their personal lives begin to deteriorate. Yet your hope is in them? Last but not least, those who just hope that someone or something will come along and fix the problem we have in this world; if it is so easy for you to “HOPE” in something and you don’t even know what it is yet, perhaps you should begin to pray and place that hope in GOD.

The point I am trying to make is this: Faith comes before Hope. Without faith, there is no hope, and if the current people in power are “hoping” that this problem will be fixed, then your also telling me that no one has placed there Faith in God so that the hope we speak of today can come to past.

Psalm 146:3-5 “ Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing. Blessed is he whose hope is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God.
