Theophaneia church in Megara. “Theophaneia” means the immediate revelation of Christ to men. The church belongs to the Monastery of John the Baptist Makrinos, built by the Byzantine General John Makrinos, who also financed its reconstruction in 1263 during his passing by the area in an expedition against the Franks in Peloponnesos. The church of Theophaneia was built in 1994 outside the main Monastery.

Megara lies in the northern section of the Isthmus of Corinth opposite the island of Salamis. Megara was one of the four districts of Attica, embodied in the four mythic sons of King Pandion II, of whom Nisos was the ruler of Megara.

George Kordis tries to have a creative relationship with the wealth of Byzantine tradition. In order to achieve this and avoid superfluity of tradition, he studied the old originals and the way in which they were drawn, as well as the development of colour used by the Byzantines.

Koukouli village is built in the southern end of Vikos Gorge, in Zagori region. Koukouli was founded during the 13th century. In 1430 it was included in the treaty signed between the villages of Zagori (14 at the time) and the Ottomans. These villages formed an autonomous federation for the next centuries. The privileges granted to the federation of Zagori due to the influence of rich Zagorians over the Sublime Porte, were preserved until 1868. Zagori remained autonomous and self-governed under the surveillance of Vekili of Zagori.

Many inhabitants, during the 18th century, became merchants, travelled abroad and made huge profits. Plakidas family was one of those that made a fortune. Alexios Plakidas, a benefactor, donated huge amounts of money for the village and the Zagori region.
