This week the victim is CritterCrafters.

Critter Crafters was started to making toy for my cockapoo after he kept ripping his toys he had for only one day. He loves trying to shred his handmade toys but has not succeed. Unlike the durable toys that you buy at stores these toys are soft. All toys have two layers of fabric. The inner layer is always a canvas and the outer layer is a decorative fabric. All of the toys are made out of new material and are constructed in a smoke and cat free environment. All items are handmade by me.

Art Crawl

The Lincoln County Art Crawl is over. This was my first year participating and I had a wonderful time.

The Loft above the Court Street Grill was the place to be. There was musicians, poetry, singers and artist.

Here is pictures of The Loft and my table before the show:

The young lady in the above photo is Jennifer. She does the pottery, polymer clay jewelry and framming photos.

As you can see the tables were decorated in black and white. So going with that we dressed in black dresses and made it an occassion to enjoy. My polymer clay teacher and friend Katie headed the show up and arranged for all of the talent. She did a wonderful job.

Katie is on the left and Pam is on the Right. Pam is a jewelry designer who uses semi-prescious gems to design her jewelry. I am trying to work with her to get more of those gemstones to put into my work.

Lincoln County Art Crawl

I have the pleasure to participate in this years Lincoln County Art Crawl. This will be my first for this event. I will be located in the Court Street Grill along with Katie Henderson-Selph, and Jennifer Hoyle.

In addition to the art at Court Street Grille during the Art Crawl, there will be a poetry reading and open mic for acoustic musicians. The art and poetry reading/open mic will actually be held upstairs in the LOFT of the Court Street Grille- it's a beautiful space. Contact Katie Henderson-Selph for more information.

You may be asking what is an Art Crawl.

The Arts Council of Lincoln County, Downtown Development Association of Lincolnton, Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, and the Lincoln County Historical Association are partnering on an exciting collaborative effort that will culminate in the Art Crawl Downtown Lincolnton on March 19, 2010 from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. Sponsored by First Federal Savings Bank, the event will feature artists from Lincoln County paired with merchants in downtown Lincoln to transform their buildings into mini art galleries. The event will include fun, food, music, and art, and is open to the public.

Look for Art Crawl posters at participating merchants’ buildings in downtown, and starting March 1, 2010 organizers will have Art Crawl maps available at locations around Downtown Lincolnton, Denver and throughout Lincoln County.

Inspiration Found

I took a class today on polymer clay. This has inspired me. I want to incorporate what I have learned into what I do now.

The class touched on the basics of polymer clay and techniques. I got to make my own design and bring it home. Here is what I designed:

For a first time I think I did pretty good. I am hoping to continue practising and hope to add it to my shop in the near future.

I have been away taking care of some family business over the past couple of months. While away I have lost all inspiration to blog. I am just now getting my inspiration back to work on my jewelry and my shop.

I am going to have a give away in the near future. Not sure what kind yet but I am open to suggestions. I hope to have more details next week.

I plan on getting back to designing and posting new designs. I am open to suggestions of colors that you would like to see.

A Look Back at December

I have not had time to post anything since before Thanksgiving. You may wonder what has been going on. Here is a look at what I have been up to..

Monday after Thanksgiving ..... daughter had a wreck and wrecked my car.

December 2 I took my Father-in-Law to the ER where he was transported to another hospital and was admitted to the ICU. We traveled back and forth to the hospital. The drive is about 45 minutes to an hour depending on the traffic. My Father-in-law stayed in ICU until Dec. 17 when he passed away. We had his funeral on December 20. My Mother-in-Law stayed with us the 2 days before the funeral.

I had not had much time to get everything ready for Christmas and it was just in a couple of days. I got everything ready for Christmas and then it was over. I have been cleaning up for most of the day and trying to find some order.

I hope to get back to my blog and designing soon.

I have a friend who wants me to design and make a necklace for her. That is what I am fixing to start on.

Thanksgiving thoughts

Thanksgiving is less than 2 weeks away and approaching fast. As the holiday comes I start to think about how time goes by so fast and wonder where time began.

It just seems yesterday my oldest child was born and now she is getting her driving permit. She is growing up to be a wonderful adult. She is quiet, tender hearted, loving, and out spoken. She is so much like her dad yet so much like her mom.

The youngest is 11 now and growing so quick. She is loving, sneaky, inventive and imaginative. She is so much like her mom yet so much like her dad.

It is so amazing that one child can be so much like their dad yet like their mom and the other so much like her mom yet like her dad. Totally opposite yet so loving and different.

The kids are just part of my life. My husband is not my best friend, he is PART of me. We are one yet separate. I love being married to him. He is trusting, sensitive, a worrier, dependable, loving, talkative and handsome. Marrying him is one of the best things I have ever done.

The best thing in my life is my Heavenly Father. He saved me, loves me and keeps me. I know I can trust Him, depend on Him, talk to Him, be upset, and I know he cares and is there for me.

As Thanksgiving approaches I want to thank God for His love and for my salvation; my husband and my kids; my mom, sisters, and their families.

Thank you Father for you love.

Take time and think about who and what you have been blessed with and tell that person/persons.

When Is it Your Time?

Today, I attended the funeral of a family friends only son. He was on a motor cycle and lost control and wrecked. He died so suddenly.

Monday my sister was told she was in kidney failure. She is so much like our dad.

My dad had a kidney disease called focal sclerosis of the kidneys. He had lost his kidney's before they ever found the disease. I remember hearing my dad say, "I still have 10 good years". That 10 years passed so quickly. My dad died after having 1 arm removed, a leg removed and just had his second leg removed when he had a massive heart attack and died. His body just gave out and could not take anymore.

I think of all the things he saw in those 10 yrs. He saw 2 of 3 grand kids. He gave away 4 of 5 of his daughters in marriage. He and my mom got their first house. He saw so much.

Then I think of the things he missed. He missed the birth of his 3 grand-child. Man he would have loved her. She has his energy. He would have played with her the way he played with his kids and other grand-kids. He would tickle till we either cried or tinkled in our pants. He missed seeing them grow up. He missed giving away his baby daughter. He missed seeing the birth and death of his 4 grand-child, who would be Kelsie's age. He misses so many things.

One thing I know he does not miss is the pain, suffering and troubles he had.

Now his 2 daughter is facing the same things. Things I wish she did not have to go through. Things like dialysis, surgeries, test, sorrow, etc. Knowing that each day is leading to place she saw her dad go.

I think about my girls and thank God it is not me. Knowing that it could just as well be me in that condition. Thanking God that I don't have that kidney disease but know I have diabetes and that can lead to just as much pain and suffering as the kidney disease.

I also think about Larry. How he has a son he wants to see grow up, get married, have kids, etc. How if he does not have surgery he only has about 18 mths. to live. I think about the things he will miss because it will be some of the same things my dad missed.

I can't afford to pay for the surgery, his meds, etc. But I can afford a raffle ticket, a donation to an auction, a few twitters, plurks, post on blogs, phone calls and emails. What good will that do. Well if we all do a post, blog, plurk, twitter, phone call it will spread the word about the auction and more people will know about Larry. More people will pray, buy a raffle ticket or donate money just to help.

When is it your time to help? It will only take a few minutes to plurk, twitter, blog, etc. It only takes a minute to send an email or tell someone you see at the store.

a medical/dental mission trip my friend is going on. She will be leaving on July 10 and returning on July 20. From now until July 5, 2009 I will be donating 10% of all sales to her.

Diane works part-time for a local dentist who goes on this trip each year. Each person raises their own money for the trip.

The group will be going to Fargaras, Romania this year to help as many people as possible while they are there. They set up in a local building and use whatever they can for equipment. They have no dental chairs, sterilizers, etc. Everything they do they do as best they can. They take alchol to steralize instruments, they use a chair for a dental chair, they set up a make shift pharmacy, the do what ever can with what they can find.

Why do they go then? To help others. To pull a tooth that has been hurting someone for months. To do what ever they can to help the person that has come from miles away to get a little relief from pain.

That is what I want to do. Help those people. I can't go so I want to help Diane finish raising the rest of the money she needs to go.

Day Trip with family for Mom's Birthdday

I have looked forward to this since my oldest sister invited me to go. The funny part was my mom wanted to go out on a canoe. My mom has never done anything like that before so that was unusal in itself.

We were suppose to meet at my moms at 8 a.m. On the walk up to my moms I took a picture of one of her roses that was in bloom.

We were having fun and cutting up on the way up there. My oldest sister, Rosanna, was driving and my sister Annette, that is just above me in age, was in the passangers front seat. Annette starts taking pictures. Here is Rosanna driving.

So we drive up to The Blue Ridge Parkway and we go to this historic house that is turned into a shop with all handmade items. We go in a brouse around and come back out and take some pictures.

As we head back to the car we see some flowers we just have to go look at. My mom is the flower expert so we go look. She says they are wild Azeleas. I think they are beautiful. I have never seen any with this color before.

Next we went to canoe. Man was that a blast. Annette was the lead on our canoe and Rosanna was the lead on hers and moms. We were laughing and going on. Annette about turned us over more than one time. We went in circles for a while. We finally figured out how to make it go straight. My mom gets tired easy. We decided to stay for 30 minutes instead of the full hour. Here is the place where we did rented our canoe and went out on.

Along the side of the river were some pretty white flowers. Of course, I had to take a picture of them.

We head up to the road to go to look at waterfalls. We got to see 2. Here is the first one.

We were getting in the car and pulling out to go on up the road when my phone rang. Then my moms and Annette's phone rang at the same time. Brittany was calling to tell me Rachel's house was on fire. They did not know if anyone was in it or not. We finally reached Rachel and Nick on her cell phone. So we turn around and come back home.

Here is what my Rachel, my youngest sister, house looked like when we got home.

Since I live next door to my mom and Rachel, I walk home. On the way I see that my new rose bush has a bloom on it. So I finish my day the way I started with a picture of a rose.

Overall it was a good trip.

I opened my second shop last week. It is a magazine suppie shop. I currently have quilting magazines listed in it. All of the designs and pages are still intact.

I have had these magazines in plastic sleeves since I got them years ago.

Some of the magazines include: "The Sunbonnet Family Reunion", "American Patchwork and Quilting" that show how to do make The Lone Star, "Quiltmaker" with 20 patterns included.
