Bhatkal: A 17 year old boy identified as Vikas Madev Acharay, has committed suicide by hanging himself from the roof of his house in Jali village of Bhatkal taluk in the Tuesday evening. His body was found hanging from the roof of prayer-hall of the house.

According to the sources, the incident came to light at 5pm, when his aunt living in the neighborhood, visited the home with a cup of tea. As she enters the house, she called the boy, but got no response. Later, she found his body hanging from the roof of the prayer-hall. Immediately after receiving the news, Bhatkal town police rushed to the spot.

According to the sources, nobody was there inside the house. The youth was PUC 2nd year student of Janta Vidhyalaya PU College, of Shirali village in Bhatkal taluk. . A case has been registered in Bhatkal police station. PSI Umesh is investigating the case.

It may be noted that just 20 days back two young girls from Bangarmakki village near Murdeshwar in Bhatkal taluk had committed suicide by hanging from the roof of their house. The two girls also were the students of the same Janta Vidhyalaya High School of Shirali village in Bhatkal taluk.

Flash News: 31 feared killed, many injured in fire in Sivakasi fireworks unit

SIVAKASI: In a major fire accident, at least 31 persons were feared dead, while dozens more injured in an explosion in a fireworks manufacturing unit in Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district in south Tamil Nadu. While police confirmed that 10 bodies were pulled out of the debris, they say the number of deaths could be higher. The accident occurred around 12.15pm at Om Sakthi Fireworks in Mudhalaipatti, located in the fireworks manufacturing hub of Sivakasi. About 40 rooms in the manufacturing unit collapsed, trapping many of the employees.

There were about 250 employees working in the unit when the accident occurred and many of them are trapped in the debris. "We are uncertain about the extent of damage and casualty. We fear that more than ten persons could be dead," said a senior revenue official. Fire and rescues services as well as ambulances could not get near the cracker unit for fear of another explosion due to huge quantity of chemicals stacked. They were unable to gain access to the accident spot for more than two hours as the two rooms are still burning and are expected to explode any time. The death toll is expected to rise as many more workers would have been trapped inside the buildings.

A few injured, who were flung away in the impact of the explosion, were being rushed to government hospital in Sivakasi and then to government hospital in Madurai. Revenue officials blamed labourers and said the accident could have occurred due to friction among the chemicals. This is one of the biggest explosions in the last few years at Sivakasi. This year, so far four explosions have occurred in various fire cracker units in Sivakasi and about five people were killed.

Police said Om Sakthi Fireworks was involved in making fancy fireworks, which are more dangerous when compared to the crackers that are intended to make loud noise rather than illuminate. The chemicals used in fancy crackers spread fast and also cause extensive damage. This was the reason for the fire to spread from one of the rooms where it originated to all the 40 rooms in the unit. While many employees working there suffered injuries, few villagers who rushed to help them were also injured in a blast and the ensuing fire.

There are about 600 major fire cracker units in Virudhunagar district while hundreds of small and minor units are functioning with about 30,000 workers.

This post will explain, how to move Mozilla Thunderbird’s default mail storage (Profile) to a new location (i.e. to another drive or to some other folder)

Know something about Thunderbird Profiles :

Thunderbird saves personal information such as messages, passwords and user preferences in a set of files called a "profile", which is stored in a separate location from the Thunderbird program files. While it is possible to have multiple profiles, most users just use the single default. (See Using Multiple Profiles for more information.)

What is a profile?

In Thunderbird, the profile stores two main sets of items. First, it stores your local mail, and possibly copies of messages that reside on the mail server (depending on your account configuration). Second, it stores any changes you make while using Thunderbird (for example, changes to account settings and changes to the toolbar).

When you install Thunderbird it creates a profile called "default". This profile will be used automatically unless you invoke the Profile Manager and create a new profile.

Where is my profile stored?

Profile files are stored separately from the Thunderbird program files. The program files are static and do not change (except when you upgrade the Thunderbird application version). Because we store profile and program files separately, you can uninstall Thunderbird without losing your messages and settings, and if something goes wrong with a Thunderbird update your information will still be available. It also means that you don't have to reinstall Thunderbird in order to delete your information or troubleshoot a problem.

Each profile is stored on your hard drive in a profile folder. The folder is named using the following convention:

<random_string>.<profile_name>

...where "<random_string>" is eight digits randomly generated by Thunderbird and "<profile_name>" is the name you assigned to the profile. The location of the folder will vary according to the operating system (and whether or not you specified a non-default location when you created the profile):

%APPDATA%\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\.

%APPDATA% is shorthand for the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\ folder (Windows 7/Vista) or the C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\ folder (Windows XP/2000), which depends on your Windows user account name.

~/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/xxxxxxxx.default/.

The tilde ("~") symbol in the path is shorthand for your home directory.

~/.thunderbird/xxxxxxxx.default/.

How to find your profile

If you are having difficulty finding the location of your profile, use the following instructions to search your filesystem:

Windows Vista and 7

Click the Windows Start button and type %APPDATA%\Thunderbird\Profiles\ in the Search box at the bottom of the Start menu, without pressing Enter. A list of profiles will appear at the top of the Start menu.

Click on any of the profiles (e.g. xxxxxxxx.default) to open it with Windows Explorer.

On Windows 2000 and XP

Click the Windows Start button, and select Run....

Type in %APPDATA%\Thunderbird\Profiles\ then click OK.

Windows Explorer opens a folder containing your profiles.

Double-click the profile folder you wish to open (e.g. the xxxxxxxx.default folder).

On Mac

Open Finder and go to your home folder (which is usually the name of your Mac user account).

From your home folder open /Library/, then /Thunderbird/, then /Profiles/. Your profile folder is within this folder.

On Linux (Ubuntu)

Click the Places menu on the top right of the screen and select Home Folder. A File Browser window will appear.

Click the View menu and select Show Hidden Files if it isn't already checked.

Double click the folder marked .thunderbird. Your profile folder is within this folder.

Backing up a profile

To back up your profile, simply shut down Thunderbird and then copy the profile folder to a backup location (such as an external disk or drive).

Moving a profile

Occasionally, you might want to move a profile or tell Thunderbird to use a profile stored in another location.

Shut down Thunderbird.

Move the profile folder to the desired location (Simply, cut the folder xxxxxxxx.default and paste it to the desired new location. don’t forget to note the new location path). For example, on Windows XP, move the profile from C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default to D:\Stuff\MyMailProfile. (If you are reverting to a backed up profile, this step isn't necessary. Just note the current location of the profile you want to restore.)

Open up the profiles.ini file in a text editor. The file is located in the application data folder for Thunderbird:

On Windows 7/Vista/XP/2000, the path is %AppData%\Thunderbird\

On Windows 95/98/Me, the path is usually C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Thunderbird\

On Linux, the path is ~/.thunderbird/

On Mac OS X, the path is ~/Library/Thunderbird/

In the profiles.ini file, locate the entry for the profile you've just moved. Change the Path= line to the new location.

If you switch from a relative path to a non-relative path, the direction of the slashes may need to change. For example, in Windows, non-relative paths use backslashes, whereas relative ones use forward slashes. Change IsRelative=1 to IsRelative=0. If you are using Microsoft Windows based system, simply change the IsRelative=1 to IsRelative=0.

Save profiles.ini and restart Thunderbird.

Basic Method:

Run VLC Player in skinned mode.

Play any media, turn on equalizer and adjust equalizer as you desired.

Close equalizer Close VLC Player (Skinned Mode) now your equalizer setting must be saved.

Now, open VLC in normal mode and see the equalizer settings. Be amazed, settings are in a exact position as you set it earlier.

The settings will remain saved as much as you restart VLC.

Advanced Method:

VLC is the most preferred media player catering advanced users and amateurs alike. Configuring basic settings and options are easy but diving deep into customizing and tweaking its features is rather difficult for novices. Many users have been griping about facing problems in saving equalizer settings. Unfortunately there is no apparent option to quickly save the audio level, specified preset, and especially equalizer settings. In this post we will walk you through step-by-step procedure of saving the equalizer settings.

To begin with, launch VLC and click Show Extended Settings button to bring up EQ settings window. Under Graphic Equalizer tab, click Enable checkbox to enable the equalizer, select a Preset from the given list and start setting the EQ levels as required.

Once you have done setting up the EQ levels, note down the values from left to right (followed by postfix dB) and Preamp value which is also referred as Global gain (present at the left side ). Now close the Adjustments & Effects window and under Tool menu, click Preferences.

From bottom-left corner, enable All option to view advanced options of each category. From main navigation bar, expand Audio and then Filters category to select Equalizer. It will show you equalizer settings in the main window. Now in Bands gain input field, enter values (must be separated with single space) which you’ve noted down (excluding the db postfix) and in Global gain input field enter preamp value. You can also specify preset if needed. Once you have entered all values in required fields, click Save to save the EQ settings.

Now upon launching VLC again, EQ bars will remain unchanged and you can enjoy your favorite media without hassling with setting equalizer over & over again.

We have demonstrated this trick using latest VLC 1.1.4 release.

Download and install Indian Rupee Font in your Computer

Download Indian Rupee font.rtf to your Computer from Foradian technologies blog and click "save" button to save font to your Computer.

A couple of days ago, an HCL spokesperson had said that the new Indian Rupee symbol will be seen on HCL keyboards within 3-4 months. But still, we, the Indians are so eager to use the Rupee Symbol. file and copy it to the following location:

C:/Windows/Fonts

How to type Indian Rupee symbol in your computer to show it in Office Applications and in other text editors

1.To type Indian rupee symbol open Ms Word

2Change font from time New Roman to Rupee Foradian select the Font size and click Ok to save changes.

2.Now hit ~ key below Esc button on keyboard to get Indian Rupee symbol in Ms Word ,you have to do similarly in Notepad also.
