Most exciting aspect? The addition of <span style="font-style: italic;">Prison Break</span>'s Robert Knepper as an evil Carnie leader. Probably not worth all the hype it's getting? Claire's sapphic college experiences. Glad to see Madeline Zima of <span style="font-style: italic;">Californication</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">The Nanny</span> as her roommate, though.<br /><br />We're hoping people start coming back to Heroes. Yeah, it faltered a bit the last two seasons or so, but those who stuck it out know that it was worth it and, hopefully, this next season the show will turn itself around, even if Bryan Fuller did bail.<br /><br /><br /><object id="flashObj" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,47,0" width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f9/6555681001?isVid=1&publisherID=769341148"><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF"><param name="flashVars" value="videoId=31031641001&playerID=6555681001&domain=embed&"><param name="base" value="http://admin.brightcove.com"><param name="seamlesstabbing" value="false"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="swLiveConnect" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f9/6555681001?isVid=1&publisherID=769341148" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" flashvars="videoId=31031641001&playerID=6555681001&domain=embed&" base="http://admin.brightcove.com" name="flashObj" seamlesstabbing="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" swliveconnect="true" allowscriptaccess="always" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" width="425" height="344"></embed></object><br /><br /><div><script type="text/javascript">var addthis_pub="walkallday";</script><br /><a onmouseover="return addthis_open(this, '', '[URL]', '[TITLE]')" onmouseout="addthis_close()" href="http://www.addthis.com/bookmark.php?v=20" onclick="return addthis_sendto()"><img alt="Bookmark and Share" style="border: 0pt none ;" src="http://s7.addthis.com/static/btn/lg-share-en.gif" width="125" height="16" /></a><script src="http://s7.addthis.com/js/200/addthis_widget.js" type="text/javascript"></script></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1827186136786795710.post-46564713052350461042009-07-28T13:47:00.005-04:002009-07-28T13:55:06.693-04:00ABC Family Pickups Full Season of Make It Or Break It<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_h7ImFeeG8uk/Sm852fakCsI/AAAAAAAAAWI/coddOLFR52E/s1600-h/makeitorbreakit2.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 299px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_h7ImFeeG8uk/Sm852fakCsI/AAAAAAAAAWI/coddOLFR52E/s400/makeitorbreakit2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5363569289530182338" /></a><br /><br />Whether you dig the gymnastics, the catty teen drama, or the obnoxious parents, we have some good news today: ABC Family has ordered an additional 10 episodes of <span style="font-style:italic;">Make It Or Break It</span>, bringing the first season to a total of 20 episodes.<br /><br />As usual with most cable fare, the season is cut in two, part one currently airing each Monday at 9pm. It was the number one show five nights in a row in the UK and critics and fans are falling all over themselves to praise it. DVR Life is one of them, too: the freaking show is brilliant and has set itself up as quite possibly one of the greatest sci-fi television shows of all time, in our humble opinion.<br /><br />So Comic Mix got a hot <a href="http://www.comicmix.com/news/2009/07/25/exclusive-torchwood-picked-up-for-another-season-by-bbc/">exclusive</a> when someone from the BBC America ranks let slip that season 4 is in the works.<br /><br />***SPOILERS*** If you haven't watched the end of season 2 or Children of Earth yet, beware.<br /><br />Season 2 ended with Owen & Toshiko being killed off and poor Ianto only made it to day four of Children of Earth. Captain Jack took off for the stars and Gwen is pregnant. Not much of an elite supernatural hunting force these days, are they?<br /><br />Who knows where the show will go from here. With Russell T. The surprise is due to the fact that, not only are we quickly approaching the fall season, but just two weeks ago his employment contract had been extended.<br /><br />When I first heard about <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Silverman's</span> departure, I have to admit that a smile came to my face. Since a young age, I've always felt like NBC was my channel. Like your mom or grandma who refers to her favorite soap opera as "my story", throughout my life I felt like I had become invested in the network. That's loyalty only a true TV junkie could possibly understand, of course, but hey, that's why I'm writing a TV blog for absolutely no money and you are not.<br /><br />Anyway, the majority of my favorite shows were on the network and many of the shows shaped my hopes and aspirations as I grew up. My life long fascination with New York City was constantly egged on watching shows like <span style="font-style: italic;">Law & Order</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Mad About You</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Seinfeld</span>. The dazzling skyline after the evening news and shots of Rockefeller Center didn't hurt, either.<br /><br />When <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">Silverman</span> first took position at the network, I was pretty hesitant. NBC was pretty down at the time, already in final place, and losing big time. What I knew of <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">Silverman</span> didn't give me much hope. He had produced one of my favorite shows, <span style="font-style: italic;">The Office</span>, but also complete crap like <span style="font-style: italic;">Date My Mom</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">The Biggest Loser</span>.<br /><br />I also thought it odd that they would hire someone with so much potential for conflict of interest, considering he would still profit from both his current Reveille shows already on the network and even new ones sold after his move. Trumping even that: not long after taking his place at the company, stories circulated about frat-boy behavior, caged tigers, and <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">lot's</span> of party-hopping.<br /><br />Here we are at the end of his reign now and I am a bit conflicted. Should I celebrate? He was the guy that made the ridiculous decision to cancel both <span style="font-style: italic;">Medium</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">My Name Is Earl</span> and then make it publicly known that he did so because, according to The LA Times "neither the fans nor the advertisers had waged a campaign to save them the way viewers and the Subway restaurant chain did for <strong style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-style: italic;">Chuck</span>."<br /><br />Well, yeah, you know, people didn't wage a campaign to save the shows because no one knew they were on the verge of being canceled. I mean, you know, most networks don't cancel a highly rated show like <span style="font-style: italic;">Medium</span> for no reason, therefore the fans, even devoted TV geeks who try to stay "in the know" such as myself, would never have imagined that we would be obligated to campaign around every single show they want to return, especially if it is one of the highest rated and most consistent shows</strong> on a dying network.<br /><br />But then there's also the fact that, without <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">Silverman</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Friday Night Lights</span>, easily one of the most brilliant shows to ever grace network television, probably wouldn't not have made it past it's first season. Because of the deal <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">Silverman</span> worked out with <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7">DirecTV</span>, we are <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8">guaranteed</span> new <span style="font-style: italic;">Friday Night Lights</span> up through it's fifth season.<br /><br />So there ya go. It's hard to know what to feel. He made some terrible decisions, acted like an ass, but also created some quality TV. His tenure was not all good or all bad. Not sure if it was even more bad than good or vice <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9">versa</span>.<br /><br />Anyway, we're not gonna go into all the politics and power shifts involved in his <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_10">departure</span>. If you're interested in that side of things, I would suggest reading the <a href="http://www.hitfix.com/articles/2009-7-27-ben-silverman-out-at-nbc-universal"><span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_11">Hitfix</span> article about the situation</a> - they lay it all out in an easy to understand way.<br /><br />Update: While rinsing and shampooing this very morning, I thought of another point I wanted to bring up about Silverman's reign: the majority of "new" scripted programming on NBC hasn't actually been "new". In his time at the network we've been treated to really terrible remakes (<span style="font-style: italic;">Bionic Woman</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Knight Rider</span>), imports (<span style="font-style: italic;">Merlin</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">The Listener</span>), or remakes of imports (<span style="font-style: italic;">Kath & Kim</span>). There's even been a remake of an import remake (<span style="font-style: italic;">Parks & Recreation</span>).<br /><br />Just kidding about that last one. While the whole mock documentary thing was over long before it debuted, <span style="font-style: italic;">Parks & Recreation</span> definately got better towards the end of the season. At first we kinda passed it off as <span style="font-style: italic;">The Office</span> (US Version) part two, but it kinda grew into it's own eventually.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><script type="text/javascript">var addthis_pub="walkallday";</script><br /><a onmouseover="return addthis_open(this, '', '[URL]', '[TITLE]')" onmouseout="addthis_close()" href="http://www.addthis.com/bookmark.php?v=20" onclick="return addthis_sendto()"><img alt="Bookmark and Share" style="border: 0pt none ;" src="http://s7.addthis.com/static/btn/lg-share-en.gif" width="125" height="16" /></a><script src="http://s7.addthis.com/js/200/addthis_widget.js" type="text/javascript"></script></div>DVR Lifehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13955490873905645085noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1827186136786795710.post-39323484976018426142009-07-26T14:28:00.007-04:002009-07-27T13:58:35.422-04:00SyFy Sets Caprica Premiere<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMp-kB_TaPM9GXKuusdSCCPq829e50rfIKgO8jWMO4xlhdgJ2a-UWqAFf8INVN1ROo2b6GcJuQHepIxtQRypUXollQ7ZhJkAIKb1ujXW8OzyCXx1K9dnwntDygYeqcmL9oGRJiycrBWee5/s1600-h/fp_back.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 323px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMp-kB_TaPM9GXKuusdSCCPq829e50rfIKgO8jWMO4xlhdgJ2a-UWqAFf8INVN1ROo2b6GcJuQHepIxtQRypUXollQ7ZhJkAIKb1ujXW8OzyCXx1K9dnwntDygYeqcmL9oGRJiycrBWee5/s400/fp_back.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5362838642134646466" border="0" /></a><br /><br />SyFy PR must be racking up the overtime this weekend. They're all over San Diego Comic-Con with <a href="http://twitpic.com/b9wbs">street teams</a>, a <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/popculturegeek/3748957500/">faux-Cafe Diem</a> and lot's of <a href="http://twitpic.com/b9wgr">swag</a>. They also <a href="http://dvrlife.blogspot.com/2009/07/eureka-renewed-for-fourth-season.html">announced a fourth season of <span style="font-style: italic;">Eureka</span></a> and the premiere date for <span style="font-style: italic;">Battlestar Galactica</span>-kin <span style="font-style: italic;">Caprica</span>.<br /><br />If you're a sci-fi or TV geek, you've probably already seen the two hour premiere of <span style="font-style: italic;">Caprica</span>, which has already been released on DVD (way back in April). The full series is set to kick off with a showing of that two hour special on January 22, 2010 at 9pm. The networks have loaded up the Fall 2009 season with multi-camera sitcoms, figuring in these down times people are looking for comedies. My problem is that 99% of multi-camera sitcoms are pure crap.<br /><br />I have to admit that I wasn't really expecting much out <span style="font-style: italic;">Hank</span>. I was a big <span style="font-style: italic;">Frasier</span> fan so I've been pretty damn disappointed by Kelsey Grammer's sitcom choices since that series ended. The first clip, the official ABC released one, is...kind of ok. Shows potential but not exactly screaming "awesome show, here, watch us!". We figure there's thousands of TV bloggers and websites out there for that kinda thing and we just don't have that kinda time. We do, however, tend to use <a href="http://twitter.com/dvrlife">our twitter feed</a> while watching certain shows and this evening, after tweeting throughout tonight's episode of NBC's <span style="font-weight: bold;">The Philanthropist</span>, realized this was pretty close to a review.<br /><br /><br /><a href="http://twitter.com/dvrlife/status/2793994903"><img src="http://tweetshots.com/tweetstock/wt4a681258e388a.png" width="75%" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://twitter.com/dvrlife/status/2794020203"><img src="http://tweetshots.com/tweetstock/wt4a68122629854.png" width="75%" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://twitter.com/dvrlife/status/2794190660"><img src="http://tweetshots.com/tweetstock/wt4a6811e8afb7d.png" width="75%" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://twitter.com/dvrlife/status/2794301099"><img src="http://tweetshots.com/tweetstock/wt4a6811bb6785b.png" width="75%" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://twitter.com/dvrlife/status/2794348863"><img src="http://tweetshots.com/tweetstock/wt4a68117b75569.png" width="75%" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://twitter.com/dvrlife/status/2794371950"><img src="http://tweetshots.com/tweetstock/wt4a6811372bf46.png" width="75%" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://twitter.com/dvrlife/status/2794435393"><img src="http://tweetshots.com/tweetstock/wt4a6810c13794a.png" width="75%" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://twitter.com/dvrlife/status/2794444471"><img src="http://tweetshots.com/tweetstock/wt4a68107b6c24a.png" width="75%" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />That's really all there is to say about this show. The premise is slightly cheesy but the stories tend to be exciting. The cast and production values are aces and the writing can be slightly predictable, though well informed. ABC finally set a return date for season four of <span style="font-style: italic;">Brothers & Sisters</span>. The rowdy Walkers will be joining us again with new tales of sibling insanity, love life woes and drama, drama, drama. <br /><br />Seriously, if drama grew on trees it would be this clan's ever changing family tree. So much drama...Well, there's tons of it.<br /><br />Word is season four's time line takes place a few months after season three's finale left off.<br /><br />The show's producer, Greg Berlanti, had a rough go of it last season with two of his three shows, <span style="font-style: italic;">Eli Stone</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Dirty Sexy Money</span>, both getting the ax from the alphabet network. While <span style="font-style: italic;">Eli Stone</span> has already run it's course, ABC just aired the first of the final three episodes of <span style="font-style: italic;">Dirty Sexy Money</span> this past Saturday evening. <br /><br />Brothers & Sisters returns Sunday September 27th at 10pm.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><script type="text/javascript">var addthis_pub="walkallday";</script><br /><a onmouseover="return addthis_open(this, '', '[URL]', '[TITLE]')" onmouseout="addthis_close()" href="http://www.addthis.com/bookmark.php?v=20" onclick="return addthis_sendto()"><img alt="Bookmark and Share" style="border: 0pt none ;" src="http://s7.addthis.com/static/btn/lg-share-en.gif" width="125" height="16" /></a><script src="http://s7.addthis.com/js/200/addthis_widget.js" type="text/javascript"></script></div>DVR Lifehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13955490873905645085noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1827186136786795710.post-38676029836744017552009-07-16T13:11:00.006-04:002009-07-28T13:21:35.243-04:00DVR Life's Emmy PicksSo here's our picks for the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards, slated to air Sunday September 20th. We here at DVR Life don't pay much attention to TV land politics, so we're making or picks based solely on what we liked and/or didn't like. We here at DVR Life are pretty excited by the clip and rather gaga over the cast, too. We're definitely looking forward to seeing Tim DeKay as FBI Agent Peter Stokes and Matt Bomer as slick con-man Neal Caffrey.<br /><br />Both actors are favorites of ours and the addition of Tiffany Thiessen is quite spectacular, as well. While she may have dropped the "Amber" from her name, she will always be remembered as a highlight of our tween years. We are no where near ashamed to admit that, while Zack and Screech both ruled (in their own way, of course), Ms. Kelly Kapowski was by the far the main attraction when watching <span style="font-style:italic;">Saved By The Bell</span>.<br /><br /><br /><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bOkznuiNw2U&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bOkznuiNw2U&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object><br /><br /><br />P.S. Especially during the summertime. Living down in a swamp where oppressive humidity and blaring heat make it near impossible to venture outside really makes us appreciate a good TV show. Thankfully, TNT's <span style="font-style: italic;">Leverage</span> is back for it's second season so we have a good reason to keep our curtains drawn tight and the A/C down low for another hour.<br /><br />The plucky crew of <span style="font-style: italic;">Leverage</span> returns for a second season, each crew member fresh off world-wide thieving adventures, acting failures, computer-hacking accomplishments and mercenary escapades. The crew's leader, Nate Ford, is having a hard time, though. The season opens with Nate being walked through an insurance office where he seems to have just landed a lucrative job. Thankfully Nate is a mess, or he wouldn't have been there to pull survivors from a burning car wreck that just flipped over his head as he literally ran from a life of cubicle dwelling and towards the nearest bar.<br /><br />When that car accident turns out to be a case of sabotage (yikes! who would have guessed!?!) Nate is reluctantly drawn back in by his raring to go team mates who, to his dismay, take over his shi-shi loft apartment, and begin planning revenge for those wronged. <br /><br />The new season seems to be headed in much the same direction as the first, though we have to point out that the characters seem a bit more polished, in a good way. We're always glad to see characters become stronger, not as annoying and/or more appealing, as the writers seem to have done over the show's hiatus.<br /><br />If you have yet to catch <span style="font-style: italic;">Leverage</span>, I think you'll be able to jump in rather easily. Thieves find a heart and become addicted to helping the powerless who have been wronged by those in a position of power: it's a Robin Hood for the current boom and bust days and nothing more than an intricate con and blow-you-away thievery skills will make up for it.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Leverage</span> returns to TNT tonight, Wednesday July 15th at 9pm (EST).<br /><br /><br /><br /><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/rqIFR1SlzI0&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/rqIFR1SlzI0&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object><br /><br /><br /><div><script type="text/javascript">var addthis_pub="walkallday";</script><br /><a onmouseover="return addthis_open(this, '', '[URL]', '[TITLE]')" onmouseout="addthis_close()" href="http://www.addthis.com/bookmark.php?v=20" onclick="return addthis_sendto()"><img alt="Bookmark and Share" style="border: 0pt none ;" src="http://s7.addthis.com/static/btn/lg-share-en.gif" width="125" height="16" /></a><script src="http://s7.addthis.com/js/200/addthis_widget.js" type="text/javascript"></script></div>DVR Lifehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13955490873905645085noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1827186136786795710.post-14039077879790298642009-07-15T06:37:00.000-04:002009-07-15T11:52:09.911-04:00Premiering Tonight: Dark Blue<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqFVOPqriOCjzlyqLoDDvcFbe4yyzD6628sastDgoudmAdO8K3FlEg1Clf4hw8wYwiYiUfzqvFi7Ihp9obc0RWtSD_OZBgbLo4I4l8Y2eqvQG3coEgCI12k5xpfCqCixmH8a45tnQF1Cv9/s1600-h/Dark_Blue_09.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqFVOPqriOCjzlyqLoDDvcFbe4yyzD6628sastDgoudmAdO8K3FlEg1Clf4hw8wYwiYiUfzqvFi7Ihp9obc0RWtSD_OZBgbLo4I4l8Y2eqvQG3coEgCI12k5xpfCqCixmH8a45tnQF1Cv9/s400/Dark_Blue_09.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358696565462789570" border="0" /></a><br /><br />An initial thought that came to mind while watching the pilot episode of TNT's new cop drama <span style="font-style: italic;">Dark Blue</span>: the script writers must have watched a million undercover-cop movies when they were kids. My second thought was a question: are they paying homage to these classic films or have they seeped so far into their subconscious they can't help writing in cliches?<br /><br />Whichever the case may be, the show comes across, save for a bit of grit here and some testosterone there, as a watchable and less dramatic version of A&E's overly dramatic, unwatchable undercover-cop series <span style="font-style: italic;">The Beast</span>. <br /><br />While <span style="font-style: italic;">Dark Blue</span> sticks to the grungy alleyways and dingy fight clubs pretty much all gritty cop shows are known for, the cinematography manages to pick it up a level or two over other examples of the drama. This may be no surprise coming from creators of the <span style="font-style: italic;">CSI</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Eleventh Hour</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Cold Case</span> franchises - especially <span style="font-style: italic;">Cold Case</span> - the two seem to have very similar pale-lighting, pretty dives visual styles.<br /><br />Dylan McDermott leads the cast as Carter Shaw, a stylishly gruff lieutenant leading an undercover operation for the Los Angeles Police Department that's so far off the radar the F.B.I. have a hard time figuring out it even exists. Not too sure how likely such an outfit is, but damn if they don't have a really cool, exceedingly photogenic abandoned loft-cum-office that would require major amounts of off the books dough for rent.<br /><br />While Patrick Swayze was <span style="font-style: italic;">The Beast's</span> only saving grace, McDermott doesn't seem to have that burden upon his shoulders, and thankfully so. The performance is pretty solid but his character comes across as an overly tortured sort. Weary eyes, heavy sighs and an "I need to save everyone and everything" attitude would probably work just as well had the part been that of a depressive artist or well-meaning but beaten down single father (or something else equally depressing).<br /><br />Production for the show is rather slick at times, but nothing compared to the overly stylized <span style="font-style: italic;">CSI</span>'s. There's a few slick spots, particularly one when the bad buys douse a hide-out in gasoline and exit slow-mo style to their pretty get away car with flames bursting behind them. At one point I thought an otherwise impressive gun battle seemed a bit like a trigger-happy (and again, slow-motion) Chevrolet commercial, but who even notices product placements these days?<br /><br /><div><script type="text/javascript">var addthis_pub="walkallday";</script>The story line for the episode was pretty ho-hum for a pilot about this subject - handler and partner wonder if undercover-cop has gone so deep he's switched sides. It's been done before but it's just one of many stories to come, so hopefully they'll get over that bump and start giving us more original fair. There's a reason people drool over undercover-cop stories and hopefully the writing crew will figure that and their own voice out soon enough, lay off the old cop flicks and give us a great show. The potential is certainly there.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Dark Blue</span> premiers tonight, Wednesday July 15th at 10pm (EST) on TNT.<br /><br /><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BOosd3WcYiY&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BOosd3WcYiY&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object><br /><br /><br /><a onmouseover="return addthis_open(this, '', '[URL]', '[TITLE]')" onmouseout="addthis_close()" href="http://www.addthis.com/bookmark.php?v=20" onclick="return addthis_sendto()"><img alt="Bookmark and Share" style="border: 0pt none ;" src="http://s7.addthis.com/static/btn/lg-share-en.gif" width="125" height="16" /></a><script src="http://s7.addthis.com/js/200/addthis_widget.js" type="text/javascript"></script></div>DVR Lifehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13955490873905645085noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1827186136786795710.post-40674727134931513802009-07-11T14:13:00.006-04:002009-07-11T15:02:59.466-04:00Preview: ABC's Defying GravityWe have to admit, this show kind of snuck up on us here at DVR Life. With all the talk of the summer television season in late spring and how cable would be ruling the season we have to admit that we didn't hear anything about this show until just a week or so ago. <br /><br />Our ears first perked up at the mention of Ron Livingston. Then we heard it was from the producers of <span style="font-style:italic;">Grey's Anatomy</span> and also starring Laura Harris of <span style="font-style:italic;">Dead Like Me</span>. All good, if not consistent (Grey's crew doing sci-fi?), things to hear.<br /><br /><br />Both clips are rather similar but there's some different footage in each. The trailers don't tell you much about the plot, only that there's zero gravity sex, someone yelling "Zoe!" and Ron Livingston is billed as a hot American hero, so we'll fill you in: <br /><br />In the near future an international crew of astronauts (four men, four women: imagine that!) take off on a six year space mission covering the eight billion miles to Venus. The reasons for the mission, though, are being billed as "mysterious".<br /><br />The series will be a mix of flashbacks, spot lighting the astronaut's path to being chosen for the flight, and the present.<br /><br />Defying Gravity premieres with a two hour episode on August 2nd before taking it's usual Sunday 10pm time slot.<br /><br /><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dnsOU4BvkDU&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dnsOU4BvkDU&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object><br /><br /><object id="flashObj" width="425" height="344" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,47,0"><param name="movie" value="http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f9/6555681001?isVid=1&publisherID=769341148" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" /><param name="flashVars" value="videoId=29108417001&playerID=6555681001&domain=embed&" /><param name="base" value="http://admin.brightcove.com" /><param name="seamlesstabbing" value="false" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="swLiveConnect" value="true" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><embed src="http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f9/6555681001?isVid=1&publisherID=769341148" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" flashVars="videoId=29108417001&playerID=6555681001&domain=embed&" base="http://admin.brightcove.com" name="flashObj" width="425" height="344" seamlesstabbing="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" swLiveConnect="true" allowScriptAccess="always" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash"></embed></object><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><script type="text/javascript">var addthis_pub="walkallday";</script><br /><a onmouseover="return addthis_open(this, '', '[URL]', '[TITLE]')" onmouseout="addthis_close()" href="http://www.addthis.com/bookmark.php?v=20" onclick="return addthis_sendto()"><img width="125" alt="Bookmark and Share" style="border:0" src="http://s7.addthis.com/static/btn/lg-share-en.gif" height="16"/></a><script src="http://s7.addthis.com/js/200/addthis_widget.js" type="text/javascript"></script></div>DVR Lifehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13955490873905645085noreply@blogger.com0
