Customer Review: Terrible - Avoid like the Plague!!
This has to be the most frustrating thing I’ve bought. The first one I had was aweful - wouldn’t play a disc or anything - so I return it and get a new one, which worked fine for about two months and then starts with noise in the screen on playback - and now won’t record or playback. I’d return it for service - but that has to be a waste of my time. Don’t buy this. I’ve ordered a Toshiba.
Customer Review: I’ll tell as many as I can how bad Samsung DVD players are
I actually have an earlier model Samsung DVD player, and it, along with other Samsung models at the time, and models STILL BEING PRODUCED, had a horrible skipping problem on many DVDs (just check out some of the other cusomter reviews here on Amazon). Samsung’s support was almost non-existant — I found out there was a firmware upgrade for the player, but not through their website (where I couldn’t find any help whatsoever), but through a friend with the same problem. HOWEVER, the firmware upgrade did not resolve the problem, and the last I heard, there was a class action suit filed here in Pennsylvania (which I received an invitiation to be a part of, but could not participate in, I think because I no longer had the receipt). Considering their lackluster customer support, I would advise anyone against buying any DVD player from this company. Players are much cheaper nowadays anyway, and you can get an excellent Sony or Toshiba for a modest price.

Customer Review: Delete your library, free up space. Here’s how to do it.
A way to delete your disc library is while the unit is powered up press the POWER button and STOP button at the same time and hold for 3 seconds. The unit will delete everything in the library and go back to the factory settings. You will need to reprogram the player but at least you’ll be able to record disc again. I was on the phone with 2 case numbers from RCA before we got the problem solved. Hope this helps anyone who has run out of space!

Customer Review: As Bad As It Gets !
The RCA DRC8005N is every bit as bad as all the reviews say it is. It is enough to make me stay away from anything RCA. I grew up watching the great RCA color TVs. I used to work at a repair shop many years ago. RCAs were well built. Those days like many others are gone. Today, I see that apparently you can’t delete a title unless you have the DVD. The worst ever!!

Customer Review: Missing Features and Irritating Copyguard Controls
I thought I would be getting a Sony DVD recorder similar to the ones I have purchased in the past. First, you cannot record from a premium movie channel because these are blocked—hackers can easily bypass this feature. Ridiculous. Also, there is no record equalizer on this unit. This is a feature I liked on Sony’s older models. I would not recommend this unit and will probably return it. I have four other Sony recorders that are wonderful. This one is a total lemon.

Customer Review: I miss my Toshiba
I had two of these (I bought a second one from a ‘display’ sale at Best Buy). I burn lots of DVDs, so I managed to wear them both out. They were great to use. I could choose the background color, and I could set the timer for a specific length of time, (like 17 minutes) not just in 30-minute increments. I didn’t like the fact that I couldn’t choose my thumbnail image. (You just get to pick the moment that they grab the image in each recording - 3, 10, 35 seconds and so on)
Customer Review: Best recorder i ever bought
i bought mine roughly a year ago, from boscovs(please read entire thing, in order to avoid confusion). I had one before, an emerson which worked terribly. i would have stopped even trying but this was on sale so i gave it a try. Turns out i had the same problem and that was the discs wouldn’t play anywhere but in the recorder. i didn’t feel that returning would solve my problem. thus it would have a literal shelf-life.

then a week ago i found an old show on that i could not find on dvd. so since vhs’s are going i gave the recorder 1 last chance to redeem itself by recording my show. now since it has been a year, i lost the instruction manual, but everything was labeled clearly on the remote. so after i recorded the show, i made a minute of recorded junk with assorted stops. then i decided to play around with all the controls to get use to them. the strangest label was the best: Easy Navi. On there was an option. Finalize DVD and after hitting it i was able to make a custom menu and finally solved the problem. the disc played everwhere, standard dvd player, ps2, even a different dvd recorder. my old one only had basic controls. so now i can safely say: BEST RECORDER EVER. it is a cheap and reliable recorder. hope you found this helpful.

and also, i read the review about Sony DVD-RW’s not working. Sony DVD-R will work just fine. i’m not sure about -RW’s because they never work for me and -R’s are cheaper :).
