Scott Guthrie announced today that he converted the “NerdDinner” tutorial into an HTML based tutorial and you can find more information here. I also listed below the links to both the PDF version and HTML version of the tutorial. A must see for those looking into ASP.NET MVC.

Microsoft Announces Official Release of Windows 7

Hey Everyone,
You would think that Microsoft would have done this sooner with all of the problems users are encountering with Windows Vista. Today, April 1, 2009 they are officially releasing Windows 7 now called Windows Vista 2.0 for official release.

The new version of Vista is 200% faster then it’s previous counterpart and is 300% more likely to have exploits, bugs and by time you read this post, most likely it will be on every warez site on the internet.

Silverlight 3 Beta Released!

Hi Everyone,
Scott Guthrie annouced today at Mix 09 that Silverlight 3 Beta is now available for download, including the Expression tools / Visual Studio 2008 tools to create Silverlight applications. This really looks promising for Silverlight, it now supports disconnected and out of browser setups. Also something cool that was shown at Mix 09 was how it installs and runs on Windows 7. Oh, did I mention the fact that it is actually 40K smaller? Read more on the official Silverlight site here.

Scott Guthrie at Microsoft did it again, he posted another awesome infobit on ASP.NET MVC and annouced a free tutorial that you can download from the upcoming Wrox book he was involved with. If you haven’t read the blog post yet, you can read more here. He also includes the download links for the tutorial, source code, etc. that you will need.

Evolutility – A Dynamic Scaffolding Framework

Hi Everyone,
Today I found an interesting open source framework for ASP.NET and SQL Server that I wanted to share. I’ll be looking into this more once I am finished with the WebPageDiffViewer. The framework is called Evolutility, and it appears to be a dynamic scoffolding framework to build ASP.NET applications with.

Today I downloaded it and installed it on SQL Server 2005 and did a demo app in about 5 minutes using Visual Studio 2008. If you are looking into ASP.NET Dynamic Data, you may also want to take a look at this as it will save some time in getting ASP.NET configured and ready for ASP.NET Dynamic Data. Just a thought. I will post more as I get a chance to use this great new open source tool. Below is a screen shot of the demo address book on their site.

I must say, the new look and feel is much cleaner then the current, then again most apps built on WPF tend to be that way I thought you all might enjoy taking a peek at what is to come in our .NET world. Is Your ISP Stealing Search Traffic?

Hi Everyone,
Tim Heuer over at Microsoft recently discovered that ISP’s and DNS providers are stealing search traffic. His full explanation and fix for the issue can be found on his blog here. I hope that this does not come into a common practice as I prefer to use my settings, not hijacked settings of my ISP when it comes to what search feature I want to use. Okay, I think this is pretty crappy. Say what you want about Microsoft and you hate the company fine, but outright ignoring user expectations and preferences is wrong.

Scott Cate had found something weird happening on his experience with using browsers and the address bar search behavior. Most modern browsers have a feature that if you type something into the address bar (not the search bar that they all also have), that it will execute a search using your configured provider and display the results. Works great, convenient for the user and allows the user to provide options of how they want to search. If you don’t like Live, fine, use Google. Hate them both? Great, configure for Yahoo!.

Moonlight 1.0 Release

Scott Guthrie announces the release of Moonlight 1.0 (Silverlight for Linux distro’s). This definately looks promising for those creating applications in Silverlight.

I am excited to announce that Novell today released version 1.0 of Moonlight, and is making it available for download at no cost with support for most major Linux distro’s (including openSUSE, SUSE Linux Enterprise, Fedora, Red Hat, and Ubuntu). For those unfamiliar with it, Moonlight is a joint effort between Novell and Microsoft of an open-source implementation of Silverlight for Linux.
