7 reasons why Yii framework is better than CodeIgniter

I guess this will not be the first nor the last text comparing those two frameworks, but I got so amazed with Yii that I have to write it.

Let’s be clear, CodeIgniter is just a little bit more of a simple MVC framework. Yii is a complete web-development framework used for rapid web application development. Let’s compare them in detail…

CodeIgniter is great for beginners. If you barely have a clue what MVC stands for, I highly recommend it. It features great tutorials and is super-easy to learn. If you want to learn what MVC is and how to use it, take a look at CodeIgniter video tutorials. CodeIgniter enables you to go into coding really fast and create basic stuff quickly. But, that’s all. It’s great to learn MVC, and it works fine even for large websites. However, you have to do a lot of things by hand. If you’re experienced PHP developer you might even be used to that and you won’t see anything missing in CodeIgniter.

I built a couple of websites using CodeIgniter, most visited on is slagalica.tv with about 30k visits/day.

From 2009 on I was testing Yii, but I only got to use it for the real project last month. Be prepared, if you are not experienced with MVC frameworks, you might find the learning curve really steep. Yii is very powerful, but to harness the power you need to learn all the features and the way stuff is done in yii. Instead of just going in and coding, take some time to read the docs, wiki and create some simple small project to learn it. Whenever you are doing something that seems like too much manual work, look for ready-made yii-way solution.

So, what makes Yii so much better? I don’t know where to start, so I’ll just enumerate:

Gii code generator. Gii can create template models, views, controllers and forms. The special case CRUD really makes it stand out. You simply give it the database table name, and it creates model with all the attributes. You just define data type (numeric, etc.) whether field is required, and those rules get applied ALWAYS when you try to save/update the data. In CodeIgniter, you need to validate it on each action. The difference is that CodeIgniter is form-oriented while Yii is data-oriented

Form handling. Gii generated forms use “active” fields. This means that when some field is not validated, yii would display the same form to fix the problem with all the data filled in

HTML Grid component. Enables to display data in tabular way with automatic sorting, paging, coloring of even and odd rows, etc.

jQuery integration. This means that stuff like date-picker or auto-complete input boxes are usually one line of PHP code and Yii spits out all the required Javascript, HTML and CSS code.

Translations. Creating multilingual websites in Yii is really easy. With CodeIgniter you would have to create your own way of doing it.

Database relations. Yii supports lazy loading. This means that you don’t have to write JOINs each time you need to get a value of related table (for example: name of author of a blog post). If you have a ActiveRecord instance of blog post as $post, you simply refer to author’s name like this: $post->author->name. Yii would execute the needed SQL to get it.

Consistency. Yii is much better choice if you have multiple developers working on the project. Yii introduces rules how stuff should be done, and there is no reinventing the whell. This means that all developers create the code that others can pick up easily.

One of the most frequently asked questions in SQL Server forums is how to format a datetime value or column into a specific date format. Here's a summary of the different date formats that come standard in SQL Server as part of the CONVERT function. Following the standard date formats are some extended date formats that are often asked by SQL Server developers.

It is worth to note that the output of these date formats are of VARCHAR data types already and not of DATETIME data type. Get Latitude and Longitude values from Google Maps

Google Maps do not display latitude and longitude values, but there is an easy trick to get these numbers. This technique will provide the latitude and longitude coordinates of the center of the map displayed by Google Maps.

Looking up an address in Google Maps will center the map on that address if it was found. Because this trick provides the latitude and longitude of the center of the map, moving the map around manually after that will change the center position and this technique will not work accurately.

When the location you want is in the center of the map, copy and paste this code into the location bar of your browser and press enter:

A little dialog box will pop up displaying the coordinates which can be copied and pasted for use elsewhere. This code can be bookmarked and then used in the future by selecting the bookmark.

Ceritanya adalah gini ,
Pas mau bayar (oh iya, disini bayar 3rebu pas masuk, serebu pas pulang klo lebih dari jam 5) ada perasaan aneh, ada apa ya ....
Perasaan tambah aneh ketika cek saku, dompet, dll.
Dan ternyata tak sepeserpun uang ada dikantong ..

Dengan wajah memelas dan penuh harap, "Pak bayarnya nanti aja ya, tulis aja kurang, ato ngutang". Dan akhirnya dapetlah dari bapak itu BB. sungguh bijaksana, dan baik hati ..

Meminta-minta adalah perbuatan yang dibenci Allah dan Rasul

Pada asalnya, hukum seorang muslim itu adalah diatas sunnah dan keislaman yang lurus.

Oleh karena itu, dinegara yang mayoritasnya muslim ini, maka kebanyakan orangnya adalah muslim dan kewajiban kita adalah selalu berhusnudzan kepada mereka.

Maka insyaallah adalah sebuah keutamaan ketika kita bersedekah kepada mereka. Jangankan kepada orang muslim, kepada orang kafir saja kita boleh bersedekah, untuk melunakkan hati mereka.

hal ini berlaku umum ketika orang yang kita beri tersebut, tidak secara terang-terangan menampakkan kefajirannya dalam menggunakan harta yang kta beri. atau orang kafir yang kita beri bukan orang yang secara jelas termasuk orang-orang yang menampakkan permusuhannya kepada islam dan menggunakan harta tadi untuk beli senjata atau lainnya.

Nabi shollallahu' alaihiwasallam bersabda yang artinya:

Allah membenci tiga hal, kabar burung, meminta-minta dan membuang-buang harta."(HR. Muslim no. 1715 dan Ahmad 2/367)
Nabi shollallahu' alaihiwasallam bersabda, "Meminta-minta itu membuat jelek wajah seseorang. Oleh karena itu siapa yang ingin mempertahankan wajahnya atau membiarkan wajahnya menjadi jelek, maka silahkan, kecuali meminta-minta kepada orang yang memiliki kekuasaan atau dalam perkara yang tidak boleh tidak harus meminta-minta. " (HR. Abu Dawud, Nasa'i dan Tirmidzi. Dinilai shahih oleh Syaikh Muqbil dalam Dzamm Al Mas'alah hal. 98)

maka diambil dari penjelasan singkat diatas jika ingin memberi kepada pengemis seyogyanya memberi saat mereka tidak sedang meminta ke kita, misal saat sedang istirahat, atau pas kita lewat mereka sedang duduk-duduk atau semisalnya.

Bersegera menyelesaikan utang-utangnya semuanya dari harta si mayyit sendiri, mekipun sampai habis hartanya, maka negaralah yang menutupi utang-utangnya setelah ia sendiri sudah berusaha membayarnya. Jika negara tidak melakukan hal itu dan ada yang berbaik budi melunasinya, maka hal itu dibolehkan.

25 Years Of Mac: Rob Baca’s 128k Mac

Meet Rob Baca. He’s a serious vintage Mac collector, with a total of 75 machines in his possession. He’s also the man who co-directed the documentary Welcome to Macintosh, which counts among its interviewees our very own Leander Kahney.

One of Rob’s computers - bought from a friend on the condition that Rob would give it a loving home - is this original 128k Mac.

What can you tell us about it, Rob?

“This particular machine is one of my favorites and lives in my editing studio alongside a few of my other favorites, a Color Classic and a 20th Anniversary Mac.

“Really, it is not used for any heavy lifting or anything, I just show it off like a relic from days gone by. To me it is a piece of history, especially since literally everything it originally came with is in my possession. It is a great talking piece in the editing suite and when I have other people or clients sit in on an edit, it always gets powered on and played with simply for nostalgic reasons and as a comparison of how far the Macintosh (and computing in general) has come in the last 25 years.

“It’s only really practical use was as a prop for Welcome to Macintosh in the ‘Macs in Nature’ transition scenes. Even though the machine works and looks perfect, it is fragile because of it’s age… but I still had to bust it out and give it a little face time in the film. I was really nervous hauling it around since it is so old and the wrong move might render it a brick. But everything worked out wonderfully.

“The reason I cherish it so much is that it is an untouched, unmodified original… About the closest thing you can find to one that is new in box.

“As far as toying around, I do have some classic games that I will play on it every so often, but they don’t run all that great because of the limited 128k of RAM, but it does the trick. I also run Mac Paint on it occasionally. But again, just playing, nothing really constructive.

“One other point of interest is that this particular machine (minus the Apple logo of course) was used in all of the promotional materials for the film such as; Movie Posters, Website Design, DVD Cover, etc. It has kind of become the logo for the film.”

Melalui Pay, Anang pun masuk dalam lingkungan pergaulan Gang Potlot sampai kemudian terbentuklah band Kidnap ini. Para personel Kidnap adalah GA (Bass Gitar), GUH (Keyboards), DAMON (Rhythm Gitar), MASSTO (Drum), KCHO (Rhythm Gitar) dan NANG Alias Anang (Vokal).

Pada perkembangannya, Kidnap hanya mengeluarkan satu buah album berjudul Katrina produksi tahun 1993 ini. Selanjutnya Anang banyak mengeluarkan album solo mulai dari Biarkanlah, Lepas, Melayang dan Tania.

AS Khawatirkan Kebangkitan Bank Syari'ah

Di tengah himpitan ekonomi yang menggila, AS diam-diam mengkhawatirkan kebangkitan ekonomi syari’ah di negara itu. Berbeda dengan bank-bank konvensional, bank syari’ah sedikit sekali terkena imbas dari krisis ekonomi global. Tak pelak kaum kapitalisme di AS dan Barat menganggap bank syari'ah mengancam kondisi ekonomi dan keberadaan bank konvensional di negara-negara mereka.

Saat ini, investasi bank syari'ah di AS telah mencapai $800 juta, jumlah yang sangat besar untuk ukuran bank-bank yang baru bermain di negara ini dalam waktu kurang dari lima tahun belakangan. Saat ini pun bank syari'ah nyata dibanjiri oleh kostumer yang mempercayakan menyimpan uangnya. Masyarakat Barat dan AS merasa menyimpan uang di bank syari'ah lebih aman dan bank syari'ah terbukti tidak terkena likuiditas .

Stephen Amos, pejabat di Bank Islam Inggris menyebutkan bahwa kostumer bank syari'ah sekarang bukan hanya berasal dari orang Muslim saja, tapi juga dari mereka yang berasal dari non-Muslim. Sedangkan menurut Azizul Haq, seorang ekonom Islam asal Bangladesh, "Bank Islam adalah solusi efektif dari krisisk keuangan sepanjang zaman."

Saat ini, paling sedikit ada 300 bank syari'ah di seluruh dunia. Para pengamat ekonomi memprediksikan di tahun 2013, aset bank syari'ah akan mencapai trilyunan dolar. Bagaimana dengan bank konvensional? Tampaknya sistem riba akan semakin ditinggalkan karena sudah terbukti berulang kali gagal dan membuat krisis di seluruh dunia. (sa/qm)

Semoga Masjid-Musholla menjadi pusat ibadah dan jembatan kemakmuran bagi masyarakatnya.

Budaya malu bisa menekan angka kemiskinan di tengah masyarakat. Lebih-lebih di Ranahminang masih memiliki adat dan budaya yang masih kental. Bagaimana format agar kemiskinan bisa dihapuskan dengan budaya malu?

“Kita mulai dengan membangkitkan kekerabatan yang sudah ada. Menata dan mengambil data base kemiskinan yang ada di tengah masyarakat. Khusus urang minang, keluarga, suku, jorong, nagari, adalah sesuatu yang penting bagi dirinya. Nah, kita akan lihat suku mana yang miskin itu, jorong mana, nagari mana,” ungkap Bupati Kabupaten Agam, Aristo Munandar, ketika koran ini berkunjung ke kediaman Komplek Wisma Lapai Jaya Blok E Padang, (10/12).

Aristo Munandar baru saja pulang dari Rapat Kerja Nasional Pusat Inkubasi Bisnis Usaha Kecil (Pinbuk) se-Indonesia di Medan, 7-8 Desember 2006. Di acara tersebut, Aristo mendapatkan penghargaan dari Pinbuk Award 2006 atas usaha Pemkab Agam usahanya dalam Pinbuk dan Baitul Mal at-Tanwil (BMT) di Kabupaten Agam.

“Budaya malu kita sangat tinggi. Jika dikatakan suku, nagari, jorong, apalagi keluarga dekat, termasuk orang miskin. Artinya, kita tidak memperhatikan keluarga kaum kerabat,” papar bupati yang menjabat dua periode ini.

Apa saja yang kebijakan bupati untuk mengangkat kaum papa? Ia memaparkan beberapa konsep pelayanan terhadap kaum papa yang memang sangat sedikit tersentuh oleh program pemerintah. “Mereka tidak dapat akses modal karena prosedur yang berlaku. Oleh karenanya, kita merubah prosedur. Prosedur kekeluargaaan,” paparnya.

Prosedur ini berbeda dengan peminjaman yang berdasarkan agunan. Hanya bermodalkan kepercayaan dan kekerabatan yang ada di tengah masyarakat dan jamaah masjid. Dari pengalaman di BMT, ini bisa berjalan dengan baik. Ke depan, tinggal lagi pengembangan dan pembinaan.

“Setelah saya cermati dari apa yang sudah dilakukan, turun ke bawah dan merasakan denyut masyarakat. Hasilnya, ternyata harus ada format baru agar orang miskin bisa diangkat menjadi keluarga pra sejahtera. Caranya, beri obat sesuai dengan penyakit. Data satu persatu. Tanya satu persatu. Tidak bisa digenerasilir,” ungkap bupati yang sering mendapat penghargaan nasional ini.

Pemkab Agam memodali pendataan ulang Rp350 juta. “Walau ada bias pada data, tetapi setiap program penanggulangan kemiskinan akan dicek ulang ke bawah. Penajaman data harus dilakukan. Kemudian, program harus disosialisasi dengan matang. Biarlah perencanaannya agak lama yang penting matang dari pada cepat nekad tanpa hasil,” tegasnya.

Gerakan yang sudah dilakukan seperti BMT memang mendapat tempat di hati masyarakat. Masjid sebagai basis ternyata berdampak positif terhadap pergerakan ekonomi dan silaturrahmi. “Inilah modal ke depan. Akan digelar raker agar semua paham bagaimana program pengentasan kemiskinan berbasis surau dan masjid akan mampu berjalan baik. Melibatkan ninik mamak, alim ulama, wali nagari, perantau. Pada gilirannya, rasa malu akan muncul ketika diketahui oleh perantau yang berhasil ternyata masih ada dunsanak mereka, anak kemanakan mereka yang masih butuh perhatian,” paparnya semangat.

Masjid dan surau akan menjadi posko penanggulangan dan diisi oleh pembina yang dilatih profesional. Memberi kesempatan bagi rapat suku, jamaah masjid dan perangkat nagari untuk mengumpulkan semua ide untuk mendapatkan celah usaha baru bagi anak kemanakan yang butuh bantuan. Legitimasi pencairan dana tidak perlu dilakukan secara konvensional bank tetapi cukup kepercayaan dan tanggung jawab ninik mamak setempat.

“Implikasi positifnya adalah, adat dan agama akan bergandengan melalui pola ekonomi,” jelas Aristo. Menguatkan hal ini, akan dibuat detail format pengawasan dan pembinaan dan evaluasi kepada Kelompok Usaha Bersama (KUBE). “Kalaulah demikian adanya, pikiran enterpreneushif akan muncul. Misalnya, satu KK, ia bisa apa dan maunya apa. Nah, sebatas itulah ia diberikan dengan kepastian jaminan ninik mamak dan pengawasan. Motivasi dan pembinaan. Nah, dinamika usaha akan hidup,” tuturnya.

Program Agam Mandiri, Agam Madani memang sudah dimulai dan memperlihatkan hasil. Penghargaan sebagai pusat pelayanan terbaik dan Pinbuk ini adalah bukti dari keseriusan dan kerja keras pria yang murah senyum ini. Tahun 2005, Pertumbuhan Ekonomi Kabupaten Agam mencapai 6.13 persen. Tahun 2004, 6,01 persen. Tahun 2003, 5,29 persen.

Pemikiran untuk peningkatan pendapatan masyarakat terus dilakukan. “Untuk produksi saya pikir tidak ada masalah lagi. Kini tinggal peningkatan mutu dan daya saing dengan cara mencari nilai tambah (value added). Beberapa produk unggulan usaha kecil sudah sangat dikenal dari Agam seperti dodol labu, dodol wartel, air tebu sudah mendapat sentuhan packaging yang baik,” tuturnya.

Sementara itu, aksi nyata untuk peningkatan ekonomi rakyat yang lain, diserahkan 32 kebijakan bupati ke kecamatan. Hal ini dilakukan demi efesiensi waktu dan memberi ruang kepada camat untuk mendekatkan program dengan kebutuhan masyarakat.

Seperti diberitakan koran ini, Sabtu (9/12), Aristo bersama kepala daerah lain, seperti Bupati Langkat (Sumut), Bupati Tanah Bumbu (Kalsel), Bupati Tanjung Balai (Kepri), Bupati Tebing Tinggi (Sumut), dan Bupati Pekalongan (Jateng) mendapatkan Pinbuk Award 2006. Sementara di tingkat menteri, penghargaan diberikan kepada Menteri Sosial Bachtiar Chamsah, Menteri Koperasi dan Usaha Kecil Menengah Suryadarma Ali, Dirut Bank Muamalat Syaefudin A, dan mantan Gubernur Sumut Alm. T. Rizal Nurdin.

Penghargaan “Pinbuk Award 2006” ini diserahkan oleh Ketua Pinbuk Pusat, Prof.Dr. Ir. M. Amin Aziz, dalam Rapat Kerja Nasional (Rakernas) Pinbuk se-Indonesia, di Medan. Dalam Rakernas yang dibuka Deputi Bidang Pengentasan Kemiskinan Menko Kesra DR. Sujana Rohiyat, dan berlangsung tiga hari itu, hadir para kepala daerah se-Indonesia, dan sejumlah pejabat depertemen terkait.

Dikatakan Aristo, bagaimana pun, tugas pemerintah adalah mensejahterakan masyarakat. Tetapi, fenomena yang menyakitkan ketika kenyataan bahwa, dengan digulirkan dana Bantuan Langsung Tunai (BLT), ternyata menjadi titik balik, bahwa angka keluarga miskin membengkak. Kabupaten Agam mengalami hal tersebut, dimana KK miskin tahun 2004 bisa ditekan hingga 10.566 KK waktu ada pendataan untuk BLT, mencapai 23.661 KK.

Padahal program untuk mengentas kemiskinan sudah dijalani. “Berangkat dari kenyataan inilah, kita harus tegas dalam aksi nyata. Bagaimana pendekatan kekerabatan yang menjadi modal penting dalam adat budaya kita bisa dilakukan. Saya pikir akan muncul pemikiran baru dan aksi baru dari ide-ide seperti ini. Kini tinggal pemantapan dan pelaksanaan,” jelas Aristo.*

Mari memakmurkan masjid lewat infaq secara langsung pada yang membutuhkan.
Sebaiknya tidak perlu membangun Masjid dan Musholla, kecuali memang masyarakat di sekitar membutuhkannya.
Artinya, bila masyarakat sekitar masih bisa menjangkau Masjid atau Musholla yang telah berdiri sebelumnya kenapa berlomba-lomba membuat Masjid dan Musholla yang hanya sebagai landmark, benda bersejarah, dimana masyarakat banyak yang tidak memakmurkannya.

HR.Khamsah, kecuali Imam Tirmidzi dan dishahihkan oleh Ibnu Khuzaimah dari jalan Anas ra. Dari Nabi saw. "Hari kiamat tidak akan terjadi sebelum orang-orang saling berbangga diri dengan masjid-masjidnya".

Apa yang disabdakan Nabi kita saw. adalah haq benar adanya.
Rasululloh saw. mengabarkan tentang itu, sekaligus sebagai peringatan bagi kita ummatnya agar menghindarinya dan tidak termasuk menjadi kaum yang berbangga-bangga dengan masjidnya. Coba kita renungkan, dari kenyataan yang sudah kita lihat, saudara kita kaum Muslimin sebagian besarnya sangat tidak memperhatikan akibat dari banyaknya membangun-bangun mesjid ataupun musholla. Padahal masjid yang telah ada disekitarnya cukup terjangkau dan mencukupi untuk menampung jamaah yang banyak.

Akibatnya Jamaah kaum Muslimin makin terpecah-pecah . Kemudian disisi lain, kita telah lihat pula bahwa sebagian besarnya hanya rajin dan semangat di awal-awal pembangunannya saja.

Sedangkan untuk memakmurkannya mereka tidak mau kecuali sedikit sekali diantara mereka.. Baik sholat berjamaah maupun majelis-majelis taklimnya. Sehingga meskipun jumlah mesjid banyak, namun tetap saja sepi. Hanya kita lihat benar-benar makmur saat sholat Jum'at dan bulan ramadlan saja. Karenanya sebagaimana sunnah dari Nabi saw. mari kita makmurkan masjid yang telah ada dengan menetapi sholat berjamaah dan mengadakan majelis-majelis taklim yang shohih. Dan jika ada di lingkungan kita ada yang ingin mendirikan masjid atau musholla lagi, hendaklah direnungkan dan dipertimbangkan agar tidak menyelisihi sunnah Nabisaw. Jika tidak paham dan ada syubhat , hendaklah kita bertanya pada ahlul ilmy. Jangan asal ikut-ikutan atas keputusan yang tidak didasari dengan ilmu dan pertimbangansunnah.

Dalam hadist Arba'in No.41 disebutkan " Tidaklah beriman salah seorang diantara kamu hingga menjadikan hawa nafsunya mengikuti apa-apa yang dibawa oleh Nabi saw"
