Follow these simple steps to learn how to do a proper front dive, off a 3 meter springboard.

1. Start about 4 feet back from the end of the board if you're a teen or adult, or farther if you take large steps. Stand in an upright position, back and legs straight.

2. When you're ready to do your approach, take three long steps, swinging your arms, together, in the same direction, as you walk.

3. When you've taken your 3 steps, bring one leg up and hop to the end of the board.

4. As you are doing this, keep your head and neck straight and looking forward.

5. When you've jumped to the end of the board, do a large arm circle counter-clockwise and push off the board with both feet as hard as you can.

6. Go all the way up and then bend at the waist.

7. Bring your arms up and squeeze your ears with your arms

8. Clasp your hands together and look at your hands.

9. Keep your legs straight and toes pointed.

In the past 60 years Scuba has been transformed in the safe and enjoyable sport that it is today. With an industry that boasts over a million new certifications each year there is a need for exceptionally qualified Instructors to meet that demand.

Step 2 - Classroom Facilities

Once you have decided to join this exciting yet competitive industry, the first step is to ensure your basic, advanced and instructor training is the absolute best possible, there are a number of ways which you can obtain your Instructor Certification. The longest and most expensive way is to simply find a local dive center who is certified to conduct your training, the disadvantages to the local dive shop (LDS) route is the length of time it takes to obtain your certifications. This is due in part to the schedules most LDS maintain in where they only dive on the weekends. In addition this route tends to be much more expensive as you pay for each dive, rental of gear, materials and are subject to rigid schedules.

Step 3 - Course Training

With the increase in demand of qualified instructors a new more modern approach to Dive Instructor Training was created, this is the Instructor Development Center (IDC). In actuality they are Dive Centers who mostly cater to Dive Instruction, here is where you as the prospective student must be more vigilant in choosing the correct center. With the advent of the IDC Center many small dive centers simply applied and received the rating. While now officially IDC centers the practices and resources were that of the small dive center. A true IDC center will have a college or university feel to it with Modern classrooms, multi-media centers, residences and the resources to properly train you. An IDC center must be able to not only maintain a traditional dive center and the school but must merge them in such a way that one does not interfere with the other. As part of the training requires students to assist in actual dives, there must be sufficient space on the boat and sufficient clients to allow students to attend the dives and not be left behind due to inadequate space on-board.

Step 4 - Graduation

Within the past few years a number of these IDC centers have come into being in exotic locations such as Mexico and the Caribbean. These IDC centers are able to offer you many more amenities and training options. Such as unlimited diving, equipment with your tuition, housing with maid service, laundry services and many others. Currently the most successful and professional IDC Center is Neptune's Dive College which has certified more Scuba Instructors in Mexico than any one else. With its innovative Internship Programs they are offering a modern approach to dive training. A review of their facilities leaves you wondering exactly where is the dive shop as the facilities resemble more the modern college than a dive shop. Their internship has been awarded various recognitions and the curriculum is eligible for college credit in the United States, UK and New Zealand. In addition the Dive College has an affiliation with a 5 star hotel in Manzanillo Mexico, and offers Resort Management training. By attending an IDC center such as Neptune's Dive College you will be able to dive each and every day. Since scuba diving has become such a popular recreational sport, manufacturers have started making full face masks for amateur divers as well. The price is higher than traditional masks, but the benefits seem to out-weigh the price. Full face masks give divers the ability to breathe normally while giving added protection against cold or polluted water. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Step 1 - Purchase a full face mask that securely fits your face. Just like a traditional face mask, you need to be able to create good suction around the entire mask to keep water from entering your mask.

Step 2 - Sign up for a full face mask diving course. If you are considering a full face mask, you are probably already scuba certified, but chances are you were trained using a separate face mask and regulator.

Step 3 - Attach your regulator hose to the face mask. This will feel different because you no longer have a mouth piece to deal with. The regulator is actually part of the face mask and just needs to be hooked up to your air supply.

Step 4 - Breathe. Learning to breathe while using a full face mask is as simple as breathing on land. You no longer have to breathe through your mouth; you can also breathe through your nose. Although this is a simple step, it may take a few tries before you are comfortable with natural breathing under water.

Step 5 - Allow water to enter your mask and learn to purge. Pressing your mask's purge button will empty your mask, or simply exhaling should empty your mask. Get a good feel for how your mask works and what you are comfortable with before attempting your first dive with a full face mask.

Tips & Warnings

If you are considering a full face mask for protection against cold or contaminated water, do not forget to also protect your head with a hood or helmet.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755409686983632449.post-3673692019569660362009-05-22T00:43:00.001+08:002009-05-22T00:43:44.160+08:00Funjet Vacations Come In A Variety Of Packages
Funjet vacations are fun filled vacations provided by Funjet, who specialize in holiday packages for the entire family. However, there are lots of options to choose from and they can get very expensive.

You can book each portion of the trip separately, you can purchase a vacation package, you can stay on a liveaboard, stay at an all inclusive or any variation of these options.

However, there are ways to reduce the cost of that long-awaited vacation. In this article we are going to explore a stay at an all inclusive resort in the Caribbean that includes scuba diving.

They can be a great money saver but there are some pros and cons to consider with this option.

Pros

* Don't have to worry about money while you are there

* Usually cheaper than purchasing everything separately

* Stress free: No decisions to make about where to go for drinks, dinner or diving

* Usually a party atmosphere (can be a con too)

* Security

* Activities and entertainment are included (sometimes diving is included also)

Cons

* Usually big resorts; grounds and dive boats can be crowded (ever have to go out at 6 am to reserve a lounge on the beach?)

* No incentive to leave the resort and experience the local culture

* Have unexpected expense of going out if you don't like the food and/or drink

* Service is sometimes lacking since tips are already included (we always tip anyway, even if the policy is supposedly not to

* Not all islands have all inclusives, so island choice is limited

You just have to decide what is most important for you. For instance, if you like smaller resorts and small dive groups, than an all inclusive resort may not be for you.

Most all inclusives include non-motorized water sports in the package. However, while most resorts offer scuba diving, you usually have to pay extra for it. If the resort does offer scuba diving in the price, you can save a significant amount of money.

If you pay for your diving at the resort, my experience has been that prices are pretty much market prices. If you do multiple dives you can usually get a discount, but that is typically the case for non-resort dive shops too.

If there are a few divers, you can usually negotiate a better price. Many places we have been allow you to purchase a dive package (say 15 dives) and split the dives among the different divers. It has always worked out well and we saved a fair amount of money.

Popular All Inclusive Destinations

Probably the most popular places (or at least those with the most resort choices) for an all inclusive Caribbean scuba diving vacation are the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Mexico's Yucatan peninsula, including the ever popular Cozumel. In my opinion, Cozumel is the hands down winner as far as diving.

High End/Low End

There is an all inclusive resort to fit every budget. You just have to decide what you want. What's more important to you? Would you rather have gourmet food and premium drinks or would you be happy with lower end offerings and more money in your wallet? The answer can be different for each trip.

No matter where you go and which level of service you choose, it is hard not to have a good time. So pick a place, pack your scuba gear and get going!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755409686983632449.post-49662046143864570362009-04-23T04:19:00.002+08:002009-05-04T00:21:37.525+08:00Diving Vacations - Get Immersed in the Pleasure! Some say that the choicest scuba diving vacations can be found in the Caribbean. The first step to planning a scuba diving vacation is to get your scuba certification. Having your scuba certification is necessary before you can rent equipment or go on a scuba dive adventure. There are two certification courses that are popular today. The first is PADI scuba certification, which is good for vacationers who want a less extensive training. The other is NAUI scuba certification, which is a little more involved and advanced.

The second step in planning your scuba diving vacation is deciding weather you will rent or buy your scuba equipment. Many diving vacationers prefer to rent their equipment. This is much more affordable and makes your trip easier to pack for. On the other hand, purchasing your equipment will ensure that you will have scuba equipment that fits your needs. Many divers who rent their equipment purchase their own regulator and mask, as these items tend to vary making it difficult to find the right one.

Now it is time to decide where you would like to take your Scuba diving vacation. Scuba diving experiences vary widely depending on where you go. Some of the top scuba diving vacation destinations include Mexico, the South Pacific, Belize, Hawaii and Thailand. At the Fiji Islands in the South Pacific, you will see a large variety of coral. On the other hand, a scuba diving vacation to Hawaii will give you the chance to view sea turtles, whales and sharks. Deciding where to go is a personal choice depending on which underwater world you are interested in seeing.

Scuba diving vacations are extremely rewarding. The adventure you will have will inspire and rejuvenate you for years to come. Whether you choose to buy your equipment and visit Thailand or rent your equipment in Mexico, you are sure to make memories that will last a lifetime. Just don’t forget an underwater camera!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755409686983632449.post-2761008579986437232009-04-23T04:06:00.003+08:002009-05-04T00:17:14.946+08:00Enjoy A fun Filled Adventure With Diving VacationsIf you are looking for an adventure-filled vacation, check out resorts where you can scuba dive! Whether you are vacationing alone or with your family and friends, you will have a wonderful time scuba diving. A scuba diving vacation is a trip that requires some special planning, however, so think ahead!

If you are taking along your family on a scuba diving vacation, your whole family can have fun, especially if your kids are already grown up and do not need you to constantly look out for them. For your scuba diving vacation, you can try going to a tropical island resort, seaside resort or even to a resort in your area. If you have not tried scuba diving before or someone in your family is a beginner at scuba diving, make sure you get some help ahead of time so you know what to expect when you get to your destination. Even a very general awareness of safety, age restrictions and equipment necessities will be helpful.

Many vacation resorts have scuba diving equipment and anything else that beginners need to get started. If the vacation resort you choose offer scuba diving, the staff can provide you detailed lessons on safety and equipment, assess the readiness of your children and will make sure you are safe and well-prepared for your first dive.

Scuba diving can make your vacation a memorable experience. Just make sure that your needs will be met ahead of time. Most resorts are very helpful, but you do not want to arrive without some critical piece of equipment or discover that the resort has a minimum age requirement for scuba divers. It would be terrible to arrive at the resort and find out at the last minute that your child is too young to scuba dive.

There is nothing quite like an adventure under the sea, and scuba diving is a great way for you and your family to see and experience life underwater. With just a little bit of planning, you will have the time of your life.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-755409686983632449.post-20997984334552854922009-04-23T04:05:00.002+08:002009-05-04T00:21:37.526+08:00Scuba Diving Vacations Going on vacation is every man?s dream, and if it the vacation is planned around scuba diving, it can be exotic and exciting. For the true diving enthusiast, the island needs no introduction. Praised by the internationally renowned oceanographer and filmmaker Jacques Cousteau as one of the best diving spots in the world, it is unique as the only oceanic island in Malaysia. Its geographic position puts Sipadan in the centre of the richest marine habitat in the world, the heart of the Indo-Pacific basin. Sipadan rises 600m from the seabed to provide spectacular wall dives and underwater garden. More than 3,000 species of fish and hundreds of coral species have been classified in this richest of ecosystem.

Sipadan is also renowned for its unusually large numbers of green and hawksbill turtles, which gather there to mate and nest. It is not unusual to see more 20 turtles on each dive. Another unique feature to divers is the turtle tomb that contains many skeletal remains of turtles. The residential schooling barracuda and big-eye trevally are one of the highlights on every diver's Wish-list, which often gather in thousands forming spectacular tornado-like formations. Mantas, eagle-rays, scalloped hammerhead sharks and whale sharks may also be seen, as well as an abundance of macro life. For sustainable-conservation purpose, Sipadan is presently, open to only 80 guests at any one time. There are six resorts on Sipadan.

Sabah - Getting There

BY AIR
Kota Kinabalu, Sabah's state capital, situated on the West Coast, is the eastern gateway to Malaysia's attraction of magnificent beaches, islands, fascinating culture, unique nature parks and more.....

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and other major airlines run scheduled aircraft services from Kota Kinabalu to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, Manila, Bandar Sri Begawan, Seoul, Taipei and Tokyo. The exact location of these tropical islands is at the site where the Straits of Malacca meets the waters of the Andaman Seas.

The largest of these islands is called Langkawi Island and is bigger than the Penang Island. The other islands in this group are Island of Pregnant Maiden (Pulau Dayang Bunting), Lion Island (Pulau Singa Besar) and Beras Basah Island. The smallest of these islands are atolls roughly the size of an ordinary house!

Langkawi is coined from the Malay words Lang and Kawi. Lang is a brown eagle and Kawi is a local manganese stone. The ancient fishermen must have seen eagles flying clutching the manganese stones! A giant monument of a brown eagle clutching the manganese stone greets all visitors to Langkawi near the Kuah Jetty.

The main tourist attractions of Langkawi Island is its virgin white sandy beaches. The beaches have very gentle continental slope and the water is crystal clear.

This island is unique in the sense that it has so many legendsand myths associated with it.Langkawi Island is therefore also called Pulau Lagenda or Legendary Island.

The most talked about legend is that of Mahsuri who is said to have laid a curse on this island for seven generations.Luckily the period of this curse is over now and Langkawi Island is fast becoming an internationally recognised tourist destination.

The government of Malaysia has declared the entire Langkawi Island as a duty free zone. Hence this island is also termed Duty Free Island. All goods sold in this island are exempted from government tax. Therefore this Legendary Island is a haven for the shoppers. You only need to stay in Langkawi for a minimum of 48 hours to take back home a reasonable amount of tax free goods.

Langkawi Island - Getting There

By Road
Visitors travelling by road have to drive to Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis on the north-western coast of Peninsular Malaysia, the main take-off points by ferry to Langkawi. Car parking facilities are available at both points.

By Air
The Langkawi International Airport at Padang Mat Sirat is about 20 km from Kuah and 8 km from the beach resorts in Pantai Cenang.
