Taking Stock of 2011 — What are Your Successes and Challenges?
As each year culminates in celebration with friends and family – I take time to asses the previous year.  It’s a time for us to acknowledge our successes, to celebrate the potential we’ve grown into, and to plan for our next evolution.  It’s a time to evaluate if we’ve lived true to our values and intentions and to look deeply at what’s still missing and causing us pain.

EVALUATE 2011 with these questions:
Consider each area of your life including your career, family life, living situation, spiritual & personal development, health & well-being, and fun & leisure, and finances.

What are you most satisfied with about your experience with 2011?  What would you most like to change?
What area of your life did you most attend to, and what result did you create?
Was there any area of your life that you avoided dealing with or just didn’t give the attention it needed?
What values did you stay true to?
Which ones tripped you up or left you feeling disappointed and out of  personal integrity?

Here is what made 2011 one of my BEST YEARS!

FUN AND LEISURE: This year I traveled to Thailand and Africa.  I traveled on two trips this year.  In March I went to Thailand and got kissed by a baby elephant.  I met some lovely people including Aon, a top guides who took care of us like royalty!  We took a long tail boat into Klong Seang to a remote lake with 1000m karst and stayed on a floating raft house.  Even in the middle of wildlife sanctuaries, the food was that of a 5-star restaurant.  We visited Tiger Kingdom and the experience of lying down with tigers is nothing less than exhilerating.  The islands at Ko Taratau are breathtaking and the sand was like powder between my toes.Being outside of my familiar surroundings opened my heart and I’ll be sharing more of my joy and pain around what I experienced.

FAMILY: 2011 started with my fathers kidney transplant and is ending with my mother having the same surgery.  My parents have been on dialysis and unable to leave home without considerable planning.  Now they are (mostly) free to enjoy their lives in ways they had forgotten possible.  My appreciation and gratitude for my family, and for the preciousness of life, is a gift that I’m reminded of everyday when I open my eyes.  There is certainly plenty to complain – and worry about – with our world in the economic crisis it’s in, and how far we have to go to bring our environment back into balance let alone the personal concerns of the direction our lives are taking – or not taking fast enough!  However, the experience with my family this past year reminds me to take a breath and remember the things that really matter to me – like love and compassion and vulnerability that can grow us into our next highest evolution.

The worst of 2011 for me!
A few years ago, I moved back to California to be with my grandmother in her final years.  Caring for my grandmother, and being with her when she took her last breath, was one of my most treasured experiences.  However, I still regret the lack of time I’ve invested in my career and staying connected with, you, my readers at Divine Purpose Unleashed.  While I’ve remained busy with clients due to referrals, I haven’t remained connected to the community I grew over many years.  I feel sad about that, because interacting with you has brought me great personal joy.

The upside is that I’ve gone through my own personal evolution and I’m excited to share with you in a much more intimate and powerful way.  I’ve developed new and exciting programs and breathed life into some ideas I’ve had help you make 2012 your BEST YEAR ever.  I’m excited to share them with you.

Somewhere about 2006 I was shopping at Sammy’s Organics in Colorado Springs.  My friend (and owner of the store) Vivian Magruder introduced me to a lovely woman.  Viv introduced us in the parking lot and the woman and I exchanged numbers.  It was a joy to explore what each of us had to offer and we ended up hiring each other.

Well, the woman was Michelle Vandepas and she became my consultant and helped me set up my relationship coaching business to heal broken hearts, then Michelle hired me to take her through The Best Year of Your Life process licensed to me by Debbie Ford.

It wasn’t too long after experiencing each others work that we formed a partnership and opened the doors to Divine Purpose Unleashed, LLC.  One of the first things Michelle did was make a declaration…

I’m going to be on Oprah!

I must admit that I thought that was a lofty goal.    Michelle started a blogtalk radio show and her first interview was… guess where?

In My BATHROOM!

That’s right.  She had her first headset…..and the toilet seat was down! (in case you were wondering).

I admired her as she started honing her skills and confidence level.  She learned everything she could about interviewing.  I watched her as her passion grew and turned into a commitment.  She’s let other things go in service of her commitment and the doors have opened providing her countless opportunities.  Here are just a few things she has done in the last three years in preparation for being on Oprah:

• Michelle was the radio anchor at the 2009 Sobcon.  This is a high level conference for bloggers and she made some great connections while doing what she called “practicing.”
• Michelle was a speaker at the 2009 Authorfest in Colorado and this year is a sponsor for the 2010 AuthorFest.  She will be interviewing hundreds of authors and helping them market their book.
• Michelle has interviewed over 150 spiritual leaders in the past three years including Neal Donal Walsh, Conversations with God, P.M.H. Atwater, Trish Bishop,  Amit Goswami, and Tom Volker.

With each interview on talking purpose, Michelle gets better and I think she stopped “practicing” a long time ago. 

In walks OPRAH! Metaphorically speaking of course.

Oprah just made public a contest to make it possible for Michelle to be a TV show host on Oprah’s new OWN cable TV network.  You can vote for Michelle at Oprah today!

How do you get your audition tape listened to by Oprah?

In the past I think all you could do is send in an audio recording through the mail, but with internet… WOWIE!  We imagine that hundreds of tapes will be sent in to be listened to and the producers will need to listen to them, but they probably won’t listen to them all.  Lucky the internet can help, and so can you!

How to fill the emptiness…

The world today reflects a spiritual emptiness that many try to fill with material accumulation.  Try filling this emptiness with purpose, and you will discover that there there really is more to life than what you are currently living.  It’s not just a thought or a yearning… there is much, much more!  And it can never be filled by the external.  Go inside and discover….

You Matter!

There are no two people on the planet that are exactly the same.  Your life experiences, your personality, and unique genetic makeup speak to your uniqueness.   When engaged, you will birth your gift to the world.  What is your gift?  It’s your most authentic expression in the service of humanity.  Even if you are serving just one person, you are making a difference in the world.  You are of such significance that you should make it a priority to express your authentic self to the fullest–as a song and dance of your deepest commitment to the expression of who you are.

You living your life purpose is not about you and yet it’s all about you.  When you are fully expressing your core essence, you will experience what life is really about.  Making a difference may not always be easy.  Do you think that Mother Teresa had it easy living in the poorest parts of the world?  Nah!  She dedicated her life to the poor, she gave her life in service and found meaning for her life.  You don’t have to serve like she did, but when you find your Life Purpose–you will have to serve.

Another way we can talk about service is leading with your core essence quality. When you lead with this innate quality, you will find yourself giving your gifts in many ways… that might even seem insignificant.  Don’t be fooled, you matter!  And your gifts matter to those receiving them.

You will find pleasure by being YOU!

Your Life Purpose is your gift to humanity!

If you know what you’re life purpose is, then you are probably aware that you can’t help but live it in some way.  If you don’t know what your Life Purpose is, then please know that while there are ways you can cultivate, nurture, and grow your Life Purpose, it is innate in you.  Your most authentic expression of your soul will emanate the qualities you are here to share, and the more you embody those qualities the more you will feel on purpose.  As you grow this natural way of being yourself, then you will notice you are living more in alignment with the Universe.  When you are in alignment with the Universe, sharing your life purpose, you will notice that the results of your life reflect back the level of alignment.  If you are in alignment, your life will show it.  You will feel it.  You will know it.

Life Purpose is a Creative Force that Transforms

Surrendering into giving your gift will be the single most important thing you can do to align with the Universe.  There is a natural way your ‘being’ impacts the world and when you are truly ‘being’ your Life Purpose, then your life will fall into place.  On the other side of this, you will notice that withholding your gift only wreaks havoc on your life and the people you love.  Living your Life Purpose, giving your gift, will transform your world.  Yes, you will still have challenges.  Life might even be more difficult, because you are being called to share more of yourself.  You are actually being called to transform the planet.  Yes, you… with your little gift of compassion or love or service.  Never underestimate the significance of your gift.

As you give your gift to your family, you will notice a transformation in your own home.  As you give your gift to your friends, you will notice a deeper fulfillment in them.  As you give your gift to your community, you will notice a desire to give more.  As you give your gift to yourself, you will notice that your desire to give more grows.

Your Divine Purpose is the gift of your essence.  It is the deepest truth of your being.  You have a special and unique gift to give and when you give it, the world will transform.  It can’t help it!

Life Purpose is Ridden with Shadow

If you want to know why you aren’t living your dream, then look to the shadow effect in your life.  If you want to understand why you’ve played small or settled for less, illuminate your shadows.  If you haven’t been able to live a life of purpose and meaning then you will want to understand the effects that your shadow qualities have on your ability to manifest.

What can a celebrity teach you about Life Purpose?

With such a large audience, Will Smith can teach us anything he wants to!  Although Will does not address Life Purpose directly, his message does… and of course, I have something of value to add.

What do you believe in that you are willing to die for?

Tapping into the innate and most authentic part of who you are will, by it’s very nature, call you to deliver your gifts in any way you can.  You will have an ache and determination and desire that propels you into action.  You will be able to deliver your gifts in a variety of ways, and in fact you won’t be able to help it–simply because when you are deeply connected to your Life Purpose, it will permeate your life and the qualities that are yours will be felt by everyone around you.  What you do in the world to live your Life Purpose will be the cause, belief, or conviction that you will be willing to die for.  This will be your unique contribution and tribute to the life you live.

How do you make it more complex than it needs to be?

We make our lives more difficult when we withhold our Life Purpose.  Life will become easier when we are living our purpose… not easier in the sense of relaxation, but in the struggle.  In fact your life may be more difficult, because your passion will take you on a journey to give your gifts completely.  Surrendering to what wants to be expressed from your soul will allow you to experience your life with ease; it is in knowing that you are contributing and making a difference that you will experience ease.

Where you are doesn’t matter, because you are becoming something greater.

Unless you find yourself stagnating, then where you are doesn’t matter.  Are you stuck?  Are you living below your potential?  Some ways you can determine the answers to these questions is if you find yourself with the same complaints for the past 5 years or if the dreams you have for your life are delegated to fantasy.  If you’re not growing yourself into something greater, then you may benefit from a self-evaluation and some support and accountability that a coach can provide.  As long as you are becoming then you have nothing to worry about.

If you are alive, then there is a necessity for you to make a difference.

You have a spiritual responsibility to make this world a better place.  Examine how you show up in the world.  Are the people you are in relationship better off because of you?  That’s your responsibility.  Does your work place benefit from your presence?  Does your community?  Is your environment better because you are here?  Your Life Purpose is needed and it is your responsibility to unveil, unleash, and manifest it into the world because there is a necessity for you to make a difference.  Do you think your Life Purpose is too small?  It’s NOT! Make your life mean something.  I promise you that your life will be better when you make the world a better place.

Challenge Your Beliefs!

If you think that it’s too difficult to give your gifts, then think again.  It may be challenging to nurture your qualities into full authentic expression, but it will be worth it.  If you have naysayers in your life, then talk to me instead.  The bottom line is that you must believe that you have something of value to share before the world can receive your gifts.

Be DELUSIONAL about what you’re capable of!

All successful people must believe in a new reality or they would never go for their dreams… especially if they’ve failed more than a few times–which most successful people have.  Whatever limitations you have learned about yourself — be delusional!  They aren’t true.  You can do anything and the most powerful step you can take is to unleash the qualities in yourself that are most wanting to be expressed; in case you don’t know…I’m talking about your Life Purpose here.  Commit so you don’t relinquish yourself to a life of mediocrity.

Don’t think realistically!  at least not in deciding to live a purpose filled life.

What dream do you have?  What is your vision for your life?  Do you dare?  I say you’d better have one… you’d better take the risk to dream.  Committing to your authentic expression is the switch that commands the universe to respond to your request.  In your commitment, notice if it’s a wholehearted commitment or not.  If it is, then you will do anything and everything to shine the light on your soul and allow for its expansion through manifesting your  Life Purpose.  Begin the creative process with your commitment.  Decide to live a purpose-filled life today and get all the help you need.  Be obsessive and desperate to share your gifts with the world.

Do you know your Life Purpose?

Your Life Purpose is the most authentic expression of your being evoking in you the yearning to deliver a much bigger contribution to the world.  This yearning is the calling of your soul!

Do you know your Life Purpose or are you pained by not knowing?  Do you feel your Life Purpose is fully integrated into your being or somewhat elusive?  Have you had tastes of Life Purpose… perhaps showing up for periods of time and then slipping away with a role that you played when that role was lost?  You’re not alone!

The discovery of your life purpose is fueled by your intuition.

The entry into your Unveiling Process begins with your yearning.  Once you have a desire, you will need to take the steps to connect with your own wisdom and deep knowing so that you can be guided on your path.  This requires a surrendering of sorts… a willingness on your part to go inside and connect with your soul.

No matter where you are on your path, the foundational piece will be to continually return to your core.  It is from the deep connection to your own wisdom that will fuel your journey.  You will be guided step-by-step by a power that exists inside you.  This is the part of you that knows why you are here and what your contribution is.  Start listening to it and notice the doors open.  The more you invest time and energy in your connection, the more will be revealed to you.  It will become a path in which you only need to know the next step you need to take.  Sometimes that next step will be asking for help, but when you are deeply listening you will know!  It’s beautiful!
