Sleeping with the enemy? I hardly think that you can refer to it that way Deelip.

We are shipping an Apple Mac version of a product that is similar in functionality to our already popular Windows versions. Our goal is to provide the closest experience with the lowest learning curve possible for former AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT users. As you know Deelip, the ITC has focused on a Windows Solution which makes sense for them. As a founding member, and a long time sitting board member of the IntelliCAD Technology Consortium, progeSOFT is working closely with the ITC development teams to insure the product we deliver is first and foremost, a quality product.

As a former "rebuild yearly" Windows user for 25 years, I recently brought home an iMac, tossed my pc laptop out the window, and haven't looked back. I personally think it is outstanding that we can offer our customers a low cost DWG based "AutoCAD Like" CAD package which offers a 4 to 5 times ROI in comparison to buying "that other software".

Besides Deelip, to hear the way you describe it, if we are "sleeping with the enemy", don't you claim to have the most software products running on the most software/hardware combination's in the world or something like that? Seems to me you've done slept with the enemy, the army, the marines, the signal corps and are finishing up with the Navy just for good measure... hussy.

Do me a favor though, and please adjust the pricing above... seems quite steep. The price for the iCADMac product is 990.00 USD, with price breaks starting as low as 2 copies. Please see icadmac.us/en/buy/ We will be shipping a Network License Manager, and a USB version soon.

Makes perfect sense. I mean, you don't want to have any of those tools laying around that you need for your job. I know, let's trust this meglo massive corp. To hold on to them for us that way we won't run contrary to any of those strict rules they have about how you use "their software". I sure am glad I use this brand, I know they will always look out for my best interests over feeding profit to their stockholders. After all they've done such a admirable job of it in the past! Of course you could simply skip the overpriced fluff of Autodesk products, ignore their browbeating salespeople, and turn your nose up at their arrogance and buy progeCAD 2010 Professional for $399 USD and what? Get full 3D, AND AutoLISP!

progeCAD has a PDF converter built in since 2008. Import or Export. The issue is the PDF that's being fed in. If inside the PDF there exist layers, fonts, dimensions, etc. it can be converted fairly easily to a "real" vector drawing, however, if those items don't exist, you get a big fat raster, which is not better than a scanned drawing. Until that is, you put it through progeCAD's built in raster to vector commands and get the best representation you can. Download a free 30 day trial...

as we spoke of in the blog post we are not recommending you do dimensioning in paper space but in model space. However, the 2009 release was supposed to fix the bug you are speaking of and if it hasnt, go ahead and enter a bug report found on our support page which will go direct to the developers.

So now, as they say, the secret is out. Oh, it has always been right there under the surface, the lurking truth about proxies, but now it it "in your face", that we own you, you can't do anything without us kind of truth. Haven't you asked yourself when you come across these drawings that have the funky boxes in them... "Why would a company as sophisticated as Autodesk make such a blunder with their products that you have to download something to be able to view them"? And then it hits you, because they are sophisticated, so stealthy, that you had no idea that you were slowly locking yourself in to them, unable to take your business anywhere else because all that history, all those designs that have gone before, are totally worthless without your uncle Autodesk there to guide and protect you.

but wait, who's that masked man off in the distance who can convert MDT and ADT with a single open command, who can provide an easy replacement for AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT for 1/10th the price, who reads and writes DWG as if he were born to do it? Why it's none other than progeCAD 2009 Professional, the AutoCAD Clone software that you can buy right here on this website!!!

Do your designs a favor, just say no to vendor lock in...

day trial and create your own DTM and apply cut and fill to your

We just reduced all drawing conversion import and export utilities for progeCAD including STEP, Google Sketchup, Alias Wavefront, 3D studio, Stero Lithography STL and IGES. All progeCAD import export add-ons are now 1/2 price.

The controller and machine would probably need to have a post processor custom programmed which costs $800.00 USD. Plan on adding that onto the cost of the progeCAM software which includes progeCAD 2009 Professional. progeCAD IS very much legal, written from the start to be AutoCAD Like, with features closely matching the software at 1/10th the price. Internet Download Manager. This program not only increases your download
speed but also allows you to start failed downloads where they left off
so as to download the product in pieces.

Comparing Inventor to progeCAD is very much like comparing Inventor to AutoCAD. In fact, AutoCAD and progeCAD are so similar it is exactly like asking how does AutoCAD compare with Inventor. It is like apples and oranges in both cases.

things we can say is that progeCAD is so much like AutoCAD that if you have used ACAD before within 1 minute of sitting down at progeCAD you will be practically as productive using it as you were using AutoCAD, and you would have spent 1/10th the price. The text font you use on AutoCAD may be different than a font that
progeCAD would use. progeCAD does it's best to substitute a font that
would be close in the case it can not find a font you may have used in
AutoCAD. Please see our FAQ section for more information on this

Autosave is normally not a hindrance to program performance. You might
consider changing how often progeCAD performs an autosave if you find it
interferes with your productivity.

The new progeCAD 2009 Professional will snap within paperspace within a
viewport. Are you perhaps using an older version of progeCAD, or the
standard version which has not been released for 2009 yet?
