NROTB are definitely an outfit to keep an eye on: Their upcoming Droplet EP which will be released by the end of the year, featuring remixes by the likes of Felix Cartal and Autoerotique (former VNDLSM), will be huge, judging by the remixes these guys send over from time to time. Here's their latest work, an unique take on Drop The Lime's Set Me Free with an amazing, mind-blowing synth rising in the middle of the track.

Next one in line is John Roman, one of the most promising up and coming producers out there at the moment. His reworks are always over the top, been spinning a lot of his stuff for some time now. Here's his latest remix, his "new opener. Herve meets Duck Sauce.", as he describes the track. Epic break-down after 1 minutes 40 seconds of desperately waiting for some bass.

To be honest, the reason why I'm posting this is because there was only shit in my inbox today - something that happens quite often on Saturdays and (even worse) Sundays. Easy Love is one of my favorite tracks from MSTRKRFT's first album The Looks which was way better than the next one, Fist Of God. I can actually listen to The Looks without feeling that certain urge to slam my head against a wall repeatedly and very hard that overcame me when I first got my hands on Fist Of God. I'm posting this in 128k only because I'm afraid that JFK might fly over to Europe and brutally shoot me with one of his firearms he keeps bragging about on Facebook. Yes, I do have a hangover.

Phoenix - Fences // The Winner

It is a matter of fact that the best artists in the electro scene are French - period. Well, second place went to Stefanger from Paris, France - guess where the winner is located: Cannes, France.

French producer Franklean sent over the best remix by far, everything is chopped up and reconstructed so seamlessly and solid that you could easily press this one on the B side of a Fences vinyl. An electric piano with sweepy, filtered flangers slowly rising in the background rings in a completely reworked and amazingly groovy version of Fences. A fusion of stabby lead synths that remind me of Eurythmics' Sweet Dreams and huge drum runs that Kavinsky himself couldn't have done better teleport you right back to a 1989 beach. I honestly raise my hat to you, Franklean!

Guess it's time for another announcement concerning my Phoenix remix contest: Second place goes to Stefanger from Paris, France. His "Cold Wave" remix of Fences is pretty much self-explanatory - an amazing lead synth backed by filtered sweeps on ice introduces an excellent rework, full of different types of synths, driving drum runs and - of course - the fascinating vocals of Fences, which are smoothly embedded in a more than solid remix. Kudos for that one!

Hiya kiddos, hope you all had a nice weekend. It took me almost a week to pick my favorites for my Phoenix remix contest as I received almost one hundred submissions (which were all excellent, by the way), but now I've made up my mind. I decided to feature the best three remixes on Disco Demons, and I'm gonna start right now by announcing the third place. Second place will be announced tomorrow, the lucky winner will be presented on Wednesday.

Third place goes to Spanish producer Laszlo Hollyfield, who managed to turn Fences into a classic retro disco tune, featuring a smooth bassline, huge arrangements of drums and warm stabs of sweep synths. If I were to pick a soundtrack for a hot disco dancing scene in an 80ies Hollywood flick, I'd definitely pick that one. Love it!

I mainly share tracks that have been sent directly to my inbox because I always feel a bit guilty when sharing tracks without the artist's permission, but sometimes I happen to find such extraordinarily beautiful songs that are simply too amazing not to share them:

Taken from Vitalic's latest album Flashmob (which is, by the way, even better than his last one, which was excellent), Poison Lips is an outstanding track that caught me on the first listen. In my opinion, Vitalic is one of the most important and influental producers at the moment, creating and developing an unique sound of highly emotional techno music. I could go on hours raving about how awsome Vitalic is, but I'd say you just give this track a listen and head over to the next record store to buy the whole album.

Saturday afternoon, I still suffer from serious headache and dizziness, it's about to snow in Austria - time for another hangover post, I'd say. Let's just take a short break from the usual banging electro sound and have something a bit more ... downtempo. Got some unique tunes that escort me drifting through the day lined up for you.

First one in line is no less than Italian maestro Ennio Morricone. I've always been a big fan of his amazing work, he kind of invented the idea of sampling which almost every electronic track is based on. I truly admire this man's work, he's definitely one of the real masterminds in music.

The next one is an orchestral piece as well: I stumbled upon Lunar from New Zealand a few years ago and have been addicted to his music ever since. Orchestral soundscapes combined with huge drums and lots of broken beats make this artist's excellent music stand out against others.

Last but not least there's The Penelopes, an amazing french electro pop band that feature an unique sound that I'm totally in love with. Their song Demian is one of my all-time favorites according to my iTunes play count, definitely a perfect trip to listen to when you're in the right mood.
