Keep in mind while mulling this over, that most if not all that view your homepage first will be first time/unique visitors; either search engine or direct type-in traffic.

What do I mean by a static homepage? First and foremost, “static” means it never changes. YOU can change it deliberately by going in and adding or deleting as you wish, but unlike a normal blog home page, it will not auto change per post.

The best example I can give you currently is my friend, JTPratt. No he didn’t pay me for this, lol, and in fact I’m not even what you would call a “regular” visitor to his blog.

Fact is, I hadn’t been to his blog in ages, when HE suddenly contacted ME about my recent hosting crisis. (He remembered me!) The plain truth is, it has stuck in my mind since my first visit, and he was the first to start me thinking of static home pages.

This was a couple years ago, and that says a LOT in my book, wouldn’t you agree?

The trick to blog static home pages, is to make it as informational as possible, and combing that with the easiest visitor navigation you can muster…again, not an easy task for sure.

I believe JT combines informational with navigational to a *T*, as they say.

As you know, I am planning a big blog merge-move by the new year (we pray) and I am seriously considering a static home page. Please do me and yourselves a BIG favor…..

While doing my own commenting I always try to read as many of the comments already there, before leaving my own. (Good advice in itself, soon to be a post as well.)

While recently reading an article entitled, Banish Low Balling Ads To Earn More With Your Blog on HowToSpotter, one of the comments really caught my eye.

Pat from Make Money Fast, wrote the following:

Only thing I’d add to this is I’ve found that with an advertise page you could be limiting yourself. For instance, Microsoft contacts you when you have an open spot and you have it listed for $35 then they can pay ten times that much. But if Joe Schmo blog finds you on the advertise page then they can only page that much.

So I guess what I’m saying if you don’t have an advertise page and seek out advertisers you can charge more for a bigger site. Contact Microsoft and offer them ad space for $500/month, contact Joe Schmo and offer them ad space for $35/month.

(Microsoft is obviously just an example and I wouldn’t let them advertise on my site anyway

I did bold the one line, as actually seeking advertisers might make some skin crawl. lol. So, what do you think of Pat’s point of view overall?

As I’ve stated, I will be moving everything from here on DSWM over to DennisEdell.com; hopefuly done by the new year. Sometime shortly after the move I will be looking to promote the fact *BIG TIME*.

I’m talkin possible Banner ads and Text Link ads, but Reviews and or Plugs FOR SURE. Whatever I can think of to get the initial word out without breaking the bank. I’m not cheap, but I will be looking for multiples here…each one can’t be $50; know what I mean?

Although I am not fond of plugs in general, if you allow them, I will write one. Even “reviews” will have to have certain things within them, just to be sure they are not missed .

I’ll get to all that in Part 2, where I will say, now is the time! Which brings me to a quick close on this post…..this is me warning - err - notifying you in plenty of time.

Start getting those stats prepared and those advertising pages up on your blog. I will return with part 2 in one - two months time .

This is a post I think of writing every time I receive the following. I got one today, so I figured what the hell .

I get them, you get them, we all unfortunately get them;  JaneDoe @ herdomain.com has unsubscribed from yourdomain.com - those dreaded unsubscribe notifications. It’s a simple fact of blogging life and something you really shouldn’t take personally.

Easier said then done, I know.

My question is something every blogger has asked him/herself at least once. Should I contact this person directly? Then the self conversation begins…hopefully in your head and not out loud, lol.

Was it something I said or did? Something I haven’t said or done? Did I offend? Gee whiz, if I could only find out, perhaps I could better myself and my blog each time. But but but…

Will I annoy them?
Is it proper?
IS IT EVEN ETHICAL - Ah, out of a hundred possibly questions, it all comes down to this, don’t it?

Well, I say it’s perfectly acceptable as long as it meets certain conditions first…..

1. You’re friends with the person unsubscribing. I don’t mean Friday night poker games (in which case you could go to their house and crash the door). Nope, I mean you’ve exchanged comments, emails, IM’s or maybe even the occasional phone call. You’ve become *online friends*.

2. You’re semi-friends/good acquaintances with the person unsubscribing. You comment on almost every post each other produces, perhaps even an email here and there.

3. He/She has commented on almost every post you have, regardless of whether or not you do as well. Definitely a regular and you enjoy the comment interaction. Let’s say comment buddies even if one way.

It’s my personal opinion that all 3 are acceptable without question. Go for it! Hit ‘em up and see what’s up. Now, #3 may make up a lie to appease you when the real reason is because you haven’t commented back…honestly? That could be a little selfish, perhaps you’re just not into their niche.

#4 is a bit trickier indeed. You have no idea who this person is but you’re curiosity is not gonna let go. Should you make contact? This is a real deep judgment call for sure.

I’d say #4 is OK as long as you are tactful and professional. Be sincere; you’re trying to better yourself and the reader experience.

What’s your take on the matter? Have you ever contacted an unsubscriber? Has anyone ever contacted you after you’ve unsubscribed? If so, what did you think of it?

Anyhoo, a year or two or so ago (hey that rhymed!), I became quite overwhelmed with it all. That combined with getting completely fed up with one forum altogether (yea Pete, that one), led me to abandon them completely…

…well, it’s time to go back. For the most part, they were good to me, and there’s no place like ‘em for helping others. This time though, I will do it right. One or two Internet marketing forums, one or two affiliate marketing forums, and a bunch of direct sales forums, since that is my main bread and butter as it were.

I believe I have internet marketing forums covered and DS forums will take some time to research; this post here and now is asking for your recommendations for your favorite/the best affiliate marketing forums out there.

Please help me to truly thank Wanda & Paula, 2 friends that successfully operate the Affiliate Blog Online, as well as about 20 other blogs and websites, making money. They really came through in a pinch and I am forever grateful .

Due to my prolonged yet unavoidable absence combined with other cash related necessities cropping up, I have run into a bit of a dilemma for sure. A hosting dilemma, and not a good one. I’ll make this quick….

Long story short, I need $100 by the 9th (14th at the very latest) or my account may be suspended; not deleted, just suspended until payment is made. In the several years I have been hosted, this is a first for me and quite embarrassing to say the least .

The good news for any kind soul that wishes to help - as you know, I am in the process of moving blogs around; hopefully fully functional at the start of the new year…..

Whoever decides they wish to help will receive 9 full months of banner (or possibly link) advertising on the new blog.  Broken down it is approximately $11 per month.

Not a misprint, NINE MONTHS of either 125×125, 250×300, or 300×300 banner advertising (possibly a link option if I decide to go that route). Not to mention a do follow blog post with links praising the hell outa your kindness. LOL. The least I could do after all .

The Success or Failure of your online campaign depends on your landing page. Whether you want to sell any product, generate any leads or any other desired purpose you need to ensure that you avoid the following mistakes so that you can have a perfect landing page.

Complex Design: - Your Landing Page should be simple. Don’t Try to make it complex by adding lot of images, links, graphics etc because they distract the mind of visitor. It is the Fact that Simplicity Sells.

Asking for Too Much: - The Most common mistake present in Landing Page design is a Complex or lengthy action which you want your visitor to take. Try to make it as simple as possible for your user.If you want to get some information from your user then decide in advance that which information is critical and don’t ask for unnecessary information. Auto-populate the fields if possible. If you are selling any product make the checkout process short and simple.

Wrong Positioning of Call to Action: - Another big mistake which we do is the improper positioning of Landing Page. While Creating a Landing Page We think that a visitor see the landing page in the same way as we see it. But this mistake can reduce your conversion Rate a lot. A Call to Action link For eg: - Click here or Sign Up should be at Top and easily visible.

Pictures Speak More: - An image is equal to 1000 words. Landing Pages with Text are boring. A relevant image act as catalyst for your conversion process. For example:- A beautiful woman with money, smiling faces. These images send good vibes to visitor and encourage him to take the desired action

No Relevancy: - Many ad designers don’t design their landing pages relevant to the ad content. The Title and content of landing page should be relevant to the ad content. Is Possible then you should design custom landing pages for each ad and make sure the customer reach the relevant landing page on clicking ad.

Takes More Time to load: - No user wants to wait, if your landing page takes lot of time to load. A good landing page should load in less than 8 seconds. Even today many people are still using dial up connections to use internet. Your landing page should load quickly even at slow connection. Avoid using many images, videos and Flash animations to reduce the loading time of your landing page.

Having a Perfect Landing Page is very important as the success ratio of your campaign depends on your landing page.
