Steam just updated their news page with some… interesting deals. Were you looking for a cool labor day sale, knowing that Steam just loves any excuse to put things on sale? Me too! Space Siege is from the same guys who did Dungeon Siege, namely Gas Powered Games and Chris Taylor. This game is like Dungeon Siege but there are less dungeons and more space. The amount of siege has likely remained the same.

All is quiet on the digital distribution front… except for the deal on Tidalis that just appeared on Gamersgate. 30% off doesn’t seem like much, but – speaking from personal experience here – the game is worth it. Tidalis is a puzzle game for both the casual and the hardcore crowd. It has a single player campaign, highly customizable puzzles, and even online multipayer! Due to the excellent support from Arcen games, there’ll be lots of patches and free add-ons incoming during the next months. I’ve invested over 6 hours into the game and I’m only halfway through the campaign, so you’ll be definitely getting your money’s worth here. (Hey look, here’s a demo!)

Multiple D2D sales

As always seems to happen here on DDD, we completely forgout about D2D. They’re having a pretty nice sale at the moment in celebration of their 6th anniversary. They’ve got a whole bunch of games on sale for just $6, and they’ll be changing the lot up every Wednesday. Some highlights include KOTOR, pieces of the Jedi Knight series, Tropico 3, and so on. They’re also having a summer end daily deal event, in which they’ll have 30 days of sales featuring two games every day. Today is Mount & Blade: Warband and Europa Universalis III, but those will change in about five hours. You can check those and all the rest of the daily summer end deals here.

There are a couple of deals going on over at Steam right now. All Company of Heroes games are 75% off, and at $2.49 you really can’t go wrong with the origninal. If you aren’t familiar with the Relic brand of RTS, you create and control squads instead of individual soldiers and they have their own AI to help make them a little less micro necessary. You can choose to buy just one or get the complete pack, all for one quarter of the normal price.

Also on sale is Altitude at 50% off and it also gets a free weekend. Demo the game and then get it half off it you like it. I have no experience with it but everyone seems to rave. Check it out!

Frozen Synapse – two copies for the price of one (pre-order) UPDATE

UPDATE: if you enter INDIEPOWER in the coupon field when you pre-order, you get an additional 25% off. Not sure how long this coupon is valid, though.

Turn-based multiplayer tactics game Frozen Synapse is not even released yet and has earned quite a lot of prominent followers already (among them are Penny Arcade’s Tycho and the wonderful people at Rock, Paper, Shotgun). That may be attributed to the awesome pre-order deal which has been available for some time now.

So here’s the deal: you preorder the game, get into the beta (which means you get to play a WIP version that contains the occasional feature update) and you also get a copy of the game to give away to a friend. If you split the costs, each of you gets the game for half price. (Or you can directly battle it out online to determine who pays the full price…)

The current beta client already contains online multiplayer as well as single player skirmish and puzzle modes . A full single player campaign will be available once the game is released (or maybe sooner, who knows).
