MS Teams always log me out on my Android device

This appears to be a recurring problem, based on my search results on Google. But nothing in the search results led to any solution to the problem.

I have re-installed the app, rebooted the phone, re-logged in, all the RE's it seems. But nothing has particularly helped in my problem. Perhaps, it's the Android app really that's the problem.

I'm on Android version 1416/1.0.0.2020061103 to be exact.

How To: Transfer iTunes Playlists to USB Hard Drive

This How To applies to either Windows or Mac version of iTunes.

By default, iTunes allows you to burn playlist to a disc. You have the option further to create an audio CD, MP3 CD, or Data CD or DVD. But there's no option to transfer a playlist to a USB drive from the iTunes menus.

But the method is actually a rather simple one. Just open the playlist you like to transfer and select all the music files in the right pane of iTunes, then click and drag to the USB drive window, either in File Explorer for Windows or Finder for Mac.

What Sulit has done in its previous promotions -- i.e., post a badge linking to their website to your blog and you get a chance to win prizes -- is downright easy to manipulate.

It's so easy to create blogs. You can create blogs from left to right, from tumblr to wordpress to blogspot, etc. just to join the contest. But it's not easy to create a blog that matters.

They should have at least limited their contest participants to those who have blogs that have authority. You don't get exposure -- much less link juices -- from blogs that sprout from out of nowhere, whose authors have no intention of keeping/maintaining. In the first place, they are considered spam blogs! They should include in the mechanics that only blogs with at least a PR of 1 are eligible for the contest.

You have this favorite application that you always access from time to time? You want to quickly access the same by a keyboard shortcut, say Ctrl + Alt + your favorite key, while being at any window at any time?

I used this procedure to quickly access my favorite calculator application, Moffsoft Freecalc, by assigning a global keyboard shortcut of F7.

This article describes how to create a keyboard shortcut for a program in Windows XP. Note that this feature works only with program shortcuts on the desktop or the Start menu. This feature does not work if the desktop shortcut is a shortcut to another shortcut.

Creating a keyboard shortcut
Right-click the desktop shortcut, and then click Properties.

On the Shortcut tab, click in the Shortcut Key box.

Press the keyboard combination that you want to use to start the program. The shortcut combination must consist of one character (a letter, number, or symbol) plus at least two of the following three keys: CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT.

Click OK.

Statistics say that Blogger/Blogspot is the number 1 blogging platform in the world right now. With that number I suppose comes the number 1 platform to accumulate the most number of abandoned blogs.

Furthermore, with the most number of abandoned blogs comes the most number of spam comments who went unmoderated.

Thus, Blogger/Blogspot could probably bag home the award for the top one spammer in the world.

Now, who wants to eat that spam?

Tumblr Being Down Lately

It has happened too often recently. Tumblr down for 4 hours or so. I wondering what's happening.

That's on top of the recent news from Mashable and Techcrunch that they have lately secured some funding from some unknown investors. Something could be brewing in the background. We can only hope for the best.

So Tumblr team, are we expecting something good out of these downtimes? Hope to hear your thoughts.

IPhone 4 Camera Flash Problem

iPhone 4 had a great camera. However, one problem I had was when using the LED flash at the back ofnyhe phone while taking pictures, all it returned are blown out green picyures.

I thought my iPhone's camera and/or flash is broken. Was actually planning of.bringing the samr to the nearest Apple store. Great that I googled about it before I did.

It appears that the problem arose from the fact that I have not yet removed or changed the plastic cover at the back that came with the phone. The same plastic was covering the flash and the camera, so that's why the flash is actuallu to the camera that's why the blown out pictures.

How fool of me.

Actually, there is. And it's called Adobe Digial Editions.

The only thing I noticed that it offers as an advantage over the regular Adobe Reader is the ability to add a bookmark to a page to facilitate easy/quick going back to the same page where you last left off.

How I Find Tumblr Not So SEO Friendly

I was testing the waters with some sample posts in my Tumblr blog and try if Google can index it properly. (You may want to read, "110mb for Sale? What Happens Now to the Premium Subscribers".)

After a couple of days (or three), tried Google Web and Google Blogs — nada! The Google blogs actually even return at No. 1 (well, it was the latest) my main blog (Deuts.NET), which contained links to the latest entries at my Tumblr blog.

You see, my main WordPress (self-hosted) blog which shows only the title can actually rank higher than my Tumblr blog. Now, I'm wondering, should I retain my domain deuts.org hosted at Tumblr?

I'm starting to think twice. I liked Tumblr's Facebook application — no, I loved it! But the fact remains that I don't actually get that much traffic from Facebook anyway. Majority of the traffic in my Tumblr are from my followers there. Referrers — not even search engines.

Blogger/Blogspot is a great site to host your blog. However, you need to live with all its deficiencies. One example is how Blogger is formatting break lines and headings. I always hate it when I always have to edit my posts in order to control the look of my post depending on how many <br />'s and h(1,2,3) and even blockquotes are there.

Another is Blogger can't seem to recognize the tag <code> when posting code snippets if you have tutorials or how-to articles.

Good thing there is a tool to help you with posting code snippets: SimpleCode. You just have to enter your codes and it will generate the proper HTML markups to post to your Blogger, and maybe even blogging engines, blog.

How to Use WordPress Credentials for a Third Party PHP Application?

This tutorial will just deal with the simple usage of WordPress credentials in a third party app, particularly the login credentials, and not further check with the authority level or role of the user (i.e., subscriber, contributor, author, etc.).

Oftentimes, as we build a community, we often rely on the magnificent WordPress Mu to run that. But, however comprehensive it is, it just lacks something one way or another.

Say, you need an app located at a subdirectory of the main WPMU site, but that you want to limit access to that app/site to "logged in" users only of the WPMU site. There is a great way to do that.

Based on the article by Kenn Wilson, Howto: Display Wordpress content outside of your blog, here's the hack:

Let's install your third-party app at a subdirectory inside WPMU installation. At the top of your third party script (it could be the index.php that calls all the other scripts within the system, better check it out!), put these lines:

What this code does

The first line of this block is simply a comment describing what we’re doing. The second line tells Wordpress not to display your templates, and the third line is the key to gaining access to the power of Wordpress from an outside page.

Globe Tattoo and Smart Bro: Can I Use My Regular Phone Sim Card?

I have been wanting to learn about this before purchasing a Globe Tatto or Smart Bro modems, now that they've become cheap these days. Was searching Google to no avail.

Now, I'm posting this up for the benefit of those still wondering. I happened to test both modems, and below are my observations. If you have comments, please feel free to post them below. (I would really appreciate comments).

For Smart Bro, it was mentioned in their FAQ that you can't use the Smart Bro sim card for call or text via a regular cellular phone, and I have not tested that. Their FAQ was silent whether you can use a regular prepaid/postpaid Smart sim into their modem. This one I have tested, and no, my Smart regular prepaid sim won't work in the SmartBro modem.

For Globe Tatto, the Tattoo sim can be used for texting but not calling when used from a regular phone. Likewise, a regular prepaid or postpaid Globe sim can be used in Globe Tattoo to access the internet. Just make sure that you have TIME based charging on before you actually access the internet if you don't want to receive a skyrocketing bill by the next billing period. I've read somewhere that the charges when using a regular postpaid phone sim in Globe Tattoo are the regular charge against your consumable amount, but that I haven't checked my bills yet.

Both products claim that their modems are network locked, so you can't use a Globe Tatto sim in a SmartBro modem and vice versa. I have not tested either, and have not heard of any service that can unlock those modems.

How To Connect to Internet Using Smart Bro Prepaid ZTE MF627 on Ubuntu Jaunty

We have seen instructions like this (http://stephencuyos.com/?p=768) on how to connect to internet on Smart Bro using Ubuntu. However, in this illustration, Fr. Stephen Cuyos was actually talking about his modem which is a Huawei E156C (and I think it would still be applicable with any Huawei model).

However, the latest modem from Smart is the ZTE MF627 (see image), which is not yet supported inherently by Ubuntu. That's why we have to install some drivers yet in order to make the modem work with Ubuntu Jaunty.

I think I read somewhere in the Ubuntu Forums that the same model may already be supported in Ubuntu Karmic, which as of this writing is coming in 6 days.

Anyways, off with the tutorial:

We try to do it the GUI way as much as possible:

Add the repository for the driver:

Open System>>Administrator>>Software Sources
Key in your sudo password as may be necessary.
On the Third-Party Software tab, click Add and paste this two apt line:

Next, download the signing key for the repository and save wherever you want, say the Desktop. Then back to the Software Sources, click on Authentication tab, and click Import Key File, and select the signing key file you've just downloaded.

Install the Drivers

There are two applications that you need to install (zte-mf627-switch and usb-modeswitch). If you want you can do it from the Synaptic Package Manager. Or, just simply issue the following command in the terminal.

sudo aptitude install zte-mf627-switch usb-modeswitch

Now We Can Connect

Now if we plug the kit to our system, you should be able to see an icon in the desktop recognizing the usb device. The New Mobile Broadband Connection window would more likely popup. If not, then edit your connections and add the device accordingly.

Follow the settings as prescribed here and you're all set to go!

The Single Post Template in WordPress

Like me, many of you loved the ability to create and display a separate template for each page content in our WordPress blog. Each template may return or display a separate php script either from the built-in function of WordPress or from a third party script (just like Simplepie).

But what about posts (under the single.php)?

If you'd like simulate the capability of creating a different template for Page Templates, then this plugin (Single Post Template) could be your best bet. Templates can only be assigned on a per post basis. So you have to edit your earlier posts that you want to be displayed in your new specific template.

I have some reservations for this method, though, as this is a plugin in the first place. What if I upgraded and it isn't compatible with the future versions of WordPress anymore.

But, if you want to display a different template for each post under a certain category, and to affect all posts previously posted filed under the same category, then these hacks could do well:

There's a caveat with the last item, though; to wit:

Like I mentioned earlier, if you are in the habit of filing posts under multiple categories, this code probably won’t work as intended. Since we’re working with templates for use on single posts in single categories, posts in multiple categories may end up falling back to the default single.php template. You have been warned!

Feeddemon 3 is now Final and Out!

My used-to-be favorite feed reader client has gone out of version 3 beta and now ready for download. You can download the program from here.

I used to love FeedDemon, and used it almost everyday to check out the latest from my favorite blogs and news sites. However, while I started running Linux distros from my home machine, I found out FeedDemon is not available for Linux platforms. That's why I ditched it in favor of Google Reader.

But then, come version 3, it started supporting synchronization with your Google Reader feeds. It can now basically co-exist with Google Reader. And while I'm in a Windows machine I decided I should use it instead, for convenience sake.

The program (version 3) has been in beta for months, and my major gripe with the beta version was that I experienced problems playing youtube videos within the program. Now that it's final, so far I observed it got rid of that problem. I hope it really did! (Update: Unfortunately, it seems this bug wasn't addressed at all. Youtube videos are not playable inside Feeddemon. Yes, the player is there but it ain't gonna play as you please.)

Now Posterous has finally offered full customization of the design of your Posterous site. It's long overdue, but better late than never as they say.

Now that this feature is on, I wonder what else can I do with my long-asleep Posterous blog.

I should need to ask something, though, can I put my own ads in there? (Update: Based on the documentation, javascripts are disabled for custom themes. So it means you can't put Google Adsense ads in there.)

Blogger Allows to Limit Which Labels to Display

In your Labels gadget in the sidebar of your Blogger blog, it now allows you to limit which labels are showing only.

My request though is the ability to filter labels only according to their frequency. Say, I just want to display the labels that were used more than once. I guess that's more relevant (and efficient) filter method.

How to Edit the Encrypted Footer in WordPress

In my search for WordPress-related downloads in Mininova, I came across some premium WordPress themes, which were and some are available only for download for a fee. However, the files are already manipulated by the uploader so that the footer (footer.php) contained encrypted text.

These text, when decrypted by php and presented already as your theme when deactivated from the WordPress backend contain the regular links from the original premium theme, PLUS some links for the benefit of the uploader. Some of these links are even malicious by nature that link to spam sites.

So how do you get rid of these links?

Simple. Just activate the theme, then on the front page, examine/view the source code (which is all html already)--from Firefox just press Ctrl+U. Then, copy the footer area, including the closing body and html tags, and paste those to the footer.php file in your downloaded theme files.

You may want to change some of these html files to php files in order for it to behave accordingly, just like when the html file contains the logout (from WordPress) link, you may want to change it to wp_loginout() so php can properly parse it according to whether you're already logged in or logged out of WordPress.

What I'm looking for in the Disqus Documentations

The problem I have so far with Tumblr is when moderating comments (replying especially) by email via my mobile phone. You see I have a push email in my mobile phone and it comes very handy when managing emails.

Now when I’m replying to a comment in Disqus, it handles the original email message different (than compared to when using the web interface of gmail). The last time I replied to a Disqus comment, my comment appeared with my signature (okay, I can delete the signature anytime) and then the phrase “—- original message ——”. Okay, the orignal message itself was excluded when it posted to my blog. But this obviously is annoying.

I searched through the Disqus documentation and I couldn’t find any article about handling such kind of problem. I’m not even sure if deleting the original message altogether is fine with Disqus.

For one thing, in IntenseDebate they have something like (!End) you put at the end of your message so that everything after it are disregarded. This is a great feature, only that it is not working! (Crap IntenseDebate).

The First Bug with the Dynamic Subject Line in Feedburner Email

Feedburner lately rolled out a feature wherein you can change the subject line of each email sent to you subscribers. This subject line is of course changing from each post title you post everyday. Read more about that feature here.

I took the plunge and availed of this new feature.

But of course, every first implementation will discover a but, or an error in implementation. An overlook, probably, on the part of the feedburner team.

As part of my feedburner "email" settings I checked the tickbox, "Send me an email whenever people unsubscribe (will be sent to your "from" address)."

However, lately, when some unsubscribed from my email feeds, feedburner sent me this message:

user@yahoo.com has unsubscribed from ${latestItemTitle}

Okay, could someone explain what is this? :D
