Since today is the official start to the holiday shopping season, I thought it would be very fun to do a little giveaway from my new store, Daisy's Curly Cat Designs. I hope everybuddy has a Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow! To get ready for this special holiday, I am modeling my Native American Girl suit. It is perfect for Thanksgiving! This outfit was patterned after the Plains tribe. Do you see my fancy shoulder-bag? There is nothing inside there. Not even a penny. I know because I looked twice.

You probably think this is my glamor shot, but actually, I am thinking about what to put inside my shoulder-bag.

Photo Hunters: Birds

The Photo Hunters theme this week is birds! I am a little bit lucky to live in south Florida, because there are many, many strange birds in my own back yard. I like to sit in the window and watch them.

This bird is called a Great White Heron. I think he is fishing. Probably only skinny fish will be able to fit down his neck. Maybe some worms, too.

These big things are called Wood Storks. This is how babies are delivered.

This one is a Great Blue Heron. I think he might be the same as the white one. Only blue.

These are a bunch of Muscovy ducks. They poop on my patio.

These are a couple of Ibis. I like their curved beaks. I hope you enjoyed learning about birds.

Fashion Friday: Working with Separates

Did you know you can extend your wardrobe by using coordinating separates? Here I am wearing the top from my madras print skirt set, the scarf from my Pink Lady suit, and the skirt from my velour warm-up outfit. Voilà! I have a brand new outfit.

Here is a secret: part of the reason I was scrounging through my closet for new looks was because I need to go shopping for some new clothings.

Do you like how my scarf is whipping in the breeze? Actually, there is no wind in here. My scarf is just stiff like that.

Ship-Wrecked

AHOY, MATEYS! It's me again. Harley! Daisy let me borrow her SAILOR cap because I am having a NAUTICAL adventure. Is that the same thing as NAUGHTY? I am not sure.

This cap is a little TOO SMALL for my MANLY head. But I can still wear it at this RAKISH angle.

WHOA NELLY! The seas are getting ROUGH! Hang on TIGHT!

I am going to DROP ANCHOR. I accidentally chewed the anchor off my boat, so this is a SUBSTITUTE anchor that got tied onto the MAST. I am not sure the anchor will REACH the bottom of the SEA.

I am feeling SEASICK now. Good bye.

You are not going to BELIEVE this, but I found a toy that is BETTER than the Cat Dancer. It is this FISHING POLE toy that my Mommeh got from the cat show a few weeks ago. And fishing is very MANLY!

I am NOT ALLOWED to play with this toy by MYSELF, because I get too WILD with it. Here is where I first CAPTURED the bait.

I will NEVER let go, not matter WHAT happens!

Sometimes I try to PULL the fishing pole right OUT of my Mommeh's HAND! I am very STRONG you know. See how I BENT the pole?

TWISTING all around like a SWORDFISH is a good tactic to get the bait FREE!

NOTHING can make me RELEASE the bait. Maybe that is why I am NOT ALLOWED to play with the fishing pole by MYSELF!

Wait a minute... am I the FISHERMAN or the FISH?

Professor Daisy Talks on Water

Hello, students! You have done well in our earlier studies about feline nutrition. Today, let us learn about water. It might seem like a simple subject, but maybe we can learn something new!

Did you know our ancestors were desert animals? Here are some interesting facts I read:

...several features of cats' physiology are unusual and are probably due to their descent from desert-dwelling species. For instance, cats are able to tolerate quite high temperatures, with humans starting to feel uncomfortable when their skin temperature passes about 112°F, in contrast cats show no discomfort until their skin reaches around 126°F. ...As well as being tolerant of high temperatures, cats' feces are usually dry and their urine is also highly concentrated, both of which are adaptations that allow cats to retain as much fluid as possible...

Cats do not naturally have a very high thirst drive. We were designed to get most of our water from our foods! Dry kibble has up to about 10% water, while canned foods are around 75% water, which is close to our natural prey. Even though cats who eat a kibble-only diet will drink more waters to compensate, their water intake from all sources will still usually be much less than a cat who eats canned food. This can result in a chronically dehydrated state!
Not getting enough fluids can lead to an increased risk of urinary tract problems. You may not know that a few years ago, I had oxalate bladder stones that had to be surgically removed. Back then, I was on a high-quality kibble-only diet (Wysong). This is how my tummy looked right after the operation to remove the rocks from my bladder. It was hurty!
Many times, cats will search for puddles and other sources of water because we do not like the taste of heavily-chlorinated tap water. Sometimes, the scent of the detergent used to wash the water bowl will be stinky to us. Many cats also like to drink from water that is not near our foods, or from a fountain or running tap. We usually like to drink from bowls that do not interfere with our sensitive whiskers.

We all know that a source of fresh, safe drinking water is important for all cats. Here is what we do at my house:

We drink only filtered water so any bad chemicals are removed.
Our water dish is on a counter, away from our foods. This is mainly because Harley still plays in the water dish and makes a big mess.
We have a clean bowl with fresh water every day.
We only use glass or stainless steel drinking bowls
Our Mommeh uses the "Anti-Bacteria" setting on our dishwasher. I do not really know if this helps anything, but I think it kills germs better.

Remember, my Milton Bradley Operation home-study course does not qualify me to give medical advice. If you notice any change in your drinking habits like excessive drinking or not drinking enough, be sure to consult your veterinarian.

Here I am practicing my hardest. But I am still No Good at playing.

This conductor is supposeed to help me practice and get better at playing the toy piano. I am not sure I trust a conductor who does not wear shoes.

And the BEST accessory for my CAMOUFLAGE tent is a CAMOUFLAGE HAT! I look like a REAL hunter and camper.

And to show how COOL I am, I will wear my hat SIDEWAYS.

Okay, now I am feeling SHY.

Harley's New Trick...

...Or, Why Nobuddy Sleeps Well Anymore

Harley likes to sit in the high windows above the bed to look for birds. But a very Bad Thing has happened. Harley learned how to walk on the canopy rails!

I used to walk on the canopy, too. Then one day, I got too close to the ceiling fan and it FLUNG me off. I am too scairted to go up there any more.

Harley does not have good balance...

And the railings make a creaky noise when he is up there because he is much bigger than me.

When he is done, sometimes he just flings himself down onto the bed.

In the middle of the night, we can hear him walking around up there. His favorite time for walking the rails is about 4:00 am. I am scairted he might land on my HEAD one day!

In honor of Veterans Day, I am wearing my most patriotic red, white and blue two-piece suit. I would like to take this chance to thank all of the brave servicemen and -women for selflessly serving our country.

I also want to take a moment and think of my grampa, because I am very proud of the service he provided to our country, even though I never got to meet him. My grampa was a Master Paratrooper. Then he went to Officer Candidate School, and then to flight school. After he got his wings, he went to Vietnam and flew Caribou transport planes. He was very brave and got many medals. My grampa served almost 15 years in the Army, and after he resigned his commission, he became a commercial airline pilot for Western Airlines, and then for Delta Airlines until he retired. This is the flag from his military funeral.

I also want to share this poem with you:

Hairdo? Hairdon't!

My Mommeh does not normally like to show pictures of herself, but today I must insist. I am very lucky because I have naturally curly furs. But my Mommeh, she has stick-straight hair. Actually, even a stick has more body than my Mommeh's hair. Let us look. This should be funny!

Here is the hair she was borned with. Straight and wispy! Poor little Mommeh. I think the barrette was a good try here.

Sadly, she went through the 80's "big hair" phase. I think it might have been the 80's "short pants" phase, too.

This is at a party only a few years ago. Waaaaay too long, Mommeh! Um, and what are you drinking there? (In case you were wondering, the blurry-headed man is my Daddeh).

The long hair apparently led to some hair-peeled-back mugshot moments. I had mercy on my Mommeh and gave this photo a little blur.

Here, Mommeh. I will go to Taaz and give you some cute virtual hair. That is a little better. I do not know why you cannot make your hairs look like that in real life.

This is how she has been wearing her hairs for the past few years. But I have some scairty news for you...

Her hair is starting to get long again...... AAAAaaaahhhhhhh!

More Fun with Outtakes!

Since I already dressed up yesterday, today seems like a good day for some fun with our recent outtakes! These photos are exactly as they came out of the camera, except they are shrunken in size. The first image is Harley modeling the Princess crown. A loud noise startled him and his hat flew up in the air. Hahahahaha!

This is me during my pumpkin patch modeling session. I noticed an interesting smell on my hand. It was not perfume.

Harley thinks he is modeling good, but his wig is crooked!
Oopsie! I jumped up for a treat at the wrong time.

I model for treats, but Harley models for fun playtime with the Cat Dancer. He usually gets so distracted by the toy that he forgets to pose correctly.

I like to jump around a lot. But my jumping pictures are usually unplanned like this one.

I am proud and excited to participate again this year in Mimi's Blogblast for Peace! Here is the Peace Globe I made this year.

I also got this special tee-shirt. I have to show it to you on the hanger so you can easily see the special slogan. It says "Love, Hugs, Peace." And there is even a planet earth on the front!

I have been thinking and thinking about this day, and I decided to write a poem. I hope you enjoy it!

Through Cat Eyes
