10 years ago Daisy and Gretchen has their very first Christmas, they were only about 5 months old at the time and still enjoying every bit of puppyhood and all the exploration that comes with it. Scott and I went out and got a Christmas tree and put it up in the family room. Daisy and Gretchen found the tree very exciting and interesting. We decorated the tree so that it was safe for the 2 puppies and their curiosity all the glass ornaments at the top and the unbreakables at the bottom of the tree and very little in reach of the puppies.

One thing about the tree had the girls very interested in it; it had one branch in the front of the tree that stuck out a bit farther than the rest of the tree. This little branch became a month long game between the girls, every time they would go by the tree one of them would gab a little piece off that branch and then go running away getting the other to chase them all over the house. By Christmas day they had trimmed that branch down to the correct length. It was just the cutest thing ever these two little puppies running around with pieced of the branch.

Then on Christmas day we taught them how to open wrapped presents and boy did they love that, ripping paper and then getting toys and treats, they thought that was the best.

Daisy, Gretchen & Banjo

Well it has been one hot summer around here in central California, we have seen more days over 100 than we have seen in our life time. We have discovered that we don’t like this much heat, the Bay Area was a much better place as for as summer temperatures go.

On the 26^th of August Banjo will have been with us a whole year. Boy has he made this his home in the last year; you would think that he was born here, not walked in at 8 months old. Banjo has claimed all the toys in the toy bin, and tries to claim mom and dad all to his self all the time (attention hog); he never wants to share them. He has also claimed the couch, even though mom and dad keep kicking him off, he gets right back on.

Before I hurt my leg, Gretchen didn’t want anything to do with Banjo, he just annoyed her and she would get upset with him and make him sad. While I was out of commission for 12 weeks, Banjo and Gretchen bonded and now they play with one another all the time and Gretchen hardly ever gets mad at Banjo anymore.

It has been a very busy and exciting year for Banjo, he had eye surgery and was neutered as soon as mom and dad brought him home, he came into a house with us old girls, a couple of old kitties and a young kitties, birds, and fish. He still is not able to be around the birds, finds it fun to chase the girl cats and has learned how far to push Gretchen and I before we are done with his antics and grrr. We also had a big move a couple of months after he came to live with us. What a big year for this little/big guy.

Banjo you can be annoying at times, but we are very happy that you came to join our family you have made us younger just being a part of our family and getting us to play with you all the time.

When I get excited, which I do quite often, I like to grab the closest pillow and take off running with it. It really doesn’t matter what kind of pillow or if I have to run up stairs to the bedroom to find a pillow, but they are my go to toy (if you will) when I get excited.

I have lived in my forever home for almost a year now, since I arrived mom and dad have been trying to break me of this habit but nothing they do has stopped me yet. I just love pillows!

My most favorite time to grab the pillows and shake them like they are a dead animal is when someone goes into the garage with my food bowl to get me some food. I just get so excited when I am getting fed that I cannot control myself, I go grab a pillow shake it all around and sometimes use my back teeth to saw a little hole so that I can pull the stuffing out. I just have so much fun gutting a pillow and I can always count on Gretchen to join in on the fun. Wheeeee!!

In the photos below you will see what fun I have with pillows and a couple of times when I was caught red pawed, you will also see some of the pillows that I decided I needed to take care of for mom & dad. At one point in time mom and dad had 7 couch pillows, well I decided that was way too many, no room for me on the couch, so I have now eliminated all but 2 of those pillows, a much better number if I do say so myself.

Please enjoy the pictures below, the big purple floor pillow was my latest adventure, boy was that one fun, it had lots and lots of stuffing. I was even playing in the stuffing the following day because it wasn’t picked up right away.
