{May 12, 2013, Wilmington NC] “An apocalyptic earthquake may initiate martial law and the end of freedom as we’ve known it,” says Dr. Richard Ruhling, author and speaker on current events and Bible prophecy, citing the following five sources of information in the order of their helpfulness.

1. Government agencies. The science of seismology is not well-developed. Predictability by the US Dept of Interior and their geologic offices is not significant.

There seems to be a connection between calamities and government drills

A. Oklahoma City Murrah Bldg had the records of the Branch Davidians who burned alive in Waco, TX. The evidence was blown up on the 2nd anniversary, 1995. The BATF had a drill the day before Timothy McVeigh activated a fertilizer bomb out front. Patriots examining the scene found explosives attached to supporting columns that failed to go off, or the whole building would have come down…fertilizer bomb?

2. Patriot sources. Alex Jones urged his listeners on July 25, 2001 to call the White House to cancel plans for a “false flag” terrorist event. 9-11 and other events have given Jones credibility, but he doesn’t seem to know the nature and timing of the next event.

3. Nostradamus. The occult sources of information are forbidden in Scripture but one researcher cited Nostradamus: “A horrible destruction. Blood, thirst, famine, when the Comet shall run. [Two comets this year]…The great earthquake shall be in the month of May. Saturn, Capricorn, Jupiter, Mercury in Taurus, Venus, Also Cancer, Mars in Zero.” The astrology of planets led the researcher to May 8; not exactly.

4. Ellen White. Seventh-day Adventist founder and visionary saw church leaders in apostasy and risking judgments that would come in end-times. Visiting New York City, in vision she saw tall buildings “warranted to be fire-proof…These buildings were consumed as if made of pitch. The fire engines could do nothing to stay the blaze.” Oddly, her description of 9/11 was published in Vol 9, pg 11-13 of Testimonies for the Church in 1909. Earthquake. Visiting the medical school in Loma Linda, California that she founded, Ellen White had a vision of an earthquake: “Many lives were blotted out…It seemed that…Judgment day had come.” She cited Zephaniah 1:8 for future punishment by God “in the day of the Lord’s sacrifice” (Passover). ibid, pgs 92-95.

Reminiscent of her 9-11 vision published in Vol 9, pgs 11-13, the Seventh-day Adventist Sabbath Lesson for May 25 is titled “The Day of the Lord” and it focuses on Zephaniah’s “Day of Doom,”– the same passages that Ellen White cited in her earthquake vision at Loma Linda. But the earthquake may affect much more than Loma Linda.

5. The Bible shines as a basis of integrating all the above information as follows:
Bible imagery supports May 25 for possible judgment, “as in the days of Noah” when the Flood had Passover timing, but in the 2nd spring month. This year it’s May 25. Maybe it’s a coincidence, but as Adventists celebrate their 150th anniversary on May 21, it will be the 10th day from the new moon day on May 11/12–the same day Noah entered the ark as some gathered outside to celebrate, Genesis 7:4,11.

The disciples were probably thinking of Passover for when God executes judgment when Christ said, “You don’t know [understand], for the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country,” Matthew 25:14. His clue on timing connects His last two last parables to second Passover, as follows:

Israelites traveled in the spring, but if they went to a far country and couldn’t get back to Jerusalem for Passover, they were to keep it a month later, Numbers 9:10,11. Christ said the law was in effect “till heaven and earth pass.” His return for a time of judgment could fit His sayings better than we’ve understood, due to translation of speech idioms.

2nd Passover (full moon) falls on Friday night/Saturday (May 24/25) and “watching” (being awake and praying that God will pass over us) is protective, says Ruhling, (Matt 24:43; Revelation 3:3)

Several recent geopolitical events have occurred on Jewish feast days, according to Ruhliing, including the U.S. Senate’s approval for $760 billion in bank bailout on October 1, 2008. The new moon was in the sky that night–it was the Feast of Trumpets when anciently they blew trumpets for 10 days till the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur. Leviticus 23:24-27. In 2008, the stock market crashed for 10 days.

Ruhling believes that if the earthquake occurs with martial law being set up, Christians should evacuate according to the warning by Christ about military “standing where it ought not” in Mark 13:14.

The mindless abolishing of the 2nd Amendment only means that law-abiding citizens won’t have guns to protect themselves. Criminals are not deterred by laws. Drugs are a great example.

Making guns illegal will make many people vulnerable to crime. Elderly, disabled, people living alone, single moms, and all those who live remotely, far from any police protection, etc.

Finally, look at history. Historically, guns have been registered for one reason only: to make them easier to seize later.

So why is this a reason for end-times impending? Because  her 9-11 vision of NYC with buildings “warranted to be fireproof” but saw them “consumed as if made of pitch” and she title it “The Last Crisis.”  That event sparked war  that is still going on, and will probably include war with Iran as explained at http://AmericaInProphecy.me

In the post on 9-11 that lends credibility to Ellen White who saw tall buildings warranted to be fireproof, but ‘consumed as if made of pitch” recorded in 9-11: Vol 9, pages 11-13 of Testimonies for the Church. So we might  consider another view she had, this one of the civil war:

“I was shown the inhabitants of the earth in the utmost confusion. War, bloodshed, privation, want, famine, and pestilence were abroad in the land. As these things surrounded God’s people, they began to press together, and to cast aside their little difficulties. Self-dignity no longer controlled them; deep humility took its place. Suffering, perplexity, and privation caused reason to resume its throne, and the passionate and unreasonable man became sane, and acted with discretion and wisdom.

“My attention was then called from the scene. There seemed to be a little time of peace. Once more the inhabitants of the earth were presented before me; and again everything was in the utmost confusion. Strife, war, and bloodshed, with famine and pestilence, raged everywhere. Other nations were engaged in this war and confusion. War caused famine. Want and bloodshed caused pestilence. And then men’s hearts failed them for fear, “and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth.” Ellen White,  Testimonies for the Church, Vol 1, page 268.

The last phrase is a reference to Christ’s teaching in Luke 12:26 for the end-time, but that context for the paragraphs above suggest what could be impending.

But she also saw Adventist medical work  represented by a ship  with “worm-eaten timbers” (because she said Dr. Kellogg, head of Battlecreek Sanitarium and Hospital, was putting “worm-eaten timbers into the medical work), and she said that ship would strike the rocks before it reaches harbor.  Testimonies for the Church, Vol  5, pages 571,572.

She also said that ship was a “spurious vessel” but elsewhere described higher education that was being planned as spurious. So the spurious vessel with worm-eaten timbers represents higher education and medical work.

Adventism has been selling hospital after hospital and has seen closure of schools, recently Atlantic Union College, as well as the Southern Publishing Association and more recently the General Conference took Review & Herald Publishing under wing.

Current pictures fit the imagery from a century ago, supporting an impending end-times.

In an article titled, “The Last Crisis,” Ellen White was in NYC when she saw tall buildings warranted to be fireproof, but in her vision they “consumed as if made of pitch. But His words were also about “the end of the world,” (Matt 24:3) and after 2000 years, in the first visit to Jerusalem by a pope, John Paul II went to Jerusalem in April, 2000. And starting that fall, Jerusalem has been the focus of numerous terrorist events.  After John Paul’s visit to America in 1987, the stock market crashed 500 points in a historic dive.

After Pope Benedict visited Washington in 2008, the stock market began an unprecedented crash for 10 days with $760 billion in bailout and more since then. While Christ was on earth, His visits brought health and salvation. When the pope comes to town…?

Speaking like a dragon (v 11)  could include the Executive Orders now in place that would allow U.S. citizens to be detained indefinitely if suspected of terrorism. Homeland Security documents include homeschoolers, anti-abortionists, gun-rights activists, some returning veterans, and Bible prophecy believers as potential domestic terrorists!

The two horns in Revelation 13:11 were considered by Adventist pioneers to represent the two great powers: government and ecclesiastical. Having no crowns on the horns as the previous beast (papacy represented by an amalgamation of the beasts or kingdoms that it survived and assimilated from Daniel 7)–having no crowns mean a nation without a king and a church without a pope–Protestant America.

America has been blessed by God for the principles of the Constitution which fit well with the 10 Commandments as instruments for self-government. James Madison 4^th President of the United States and hailed as the “Father of the Constitution,” said, “We base all our experiments on the capacity of mankind for self-government.”

But since that time, the Jesuits have been steadily at work to undermine that foundation of a government without a king and a church without a pope. When they influenced President Truman to appoint an ambassador to the Vatican, the public outcry was so great, that it could not happen. But when Reagan did, no outcry–not even by the Religious Liberty Department of the General Conference of SDAs.

I suspect Adventism would  make a bigger Protestant impact in calling attention to what is happening if we weren’t also infiltrated and surrounded by Jesuit influence at the highest levels of leadership.  B.G. Wilkinson, President of Washington Missionary College, discovered one of his Bible teachers was a Jesuit taking orders from downtown DC and fired him. Since then, I don’t think any have been discerned, but one only has to advocate things that ought to be done to encounter strange resistance.

We are the Final Generation! The Word of God points to four generations before the end in Joel 1: “You tell your children of it, and let them tell their children, and their children another generation.” Joel 1:3. We might miss the meaning or the four generations, but the next verse uses grain to clarify a disappointing harvest in contrast to Christ’s words, “First the blade, then the ear, then the full corn.” Joel 1:4 says, “That which the palmerworm has left, the locust has eaten, and that which the locust has left, the cankerworm has eaten, and that which the cankerworm has left, the caterpillar has eaten.”

Not much left of us after four generations. The Bible shows a generation as 40 years in Hebrew 3:9,10 where God was grieved 40 years with the generation in the wilderness. The math is easy for Adventists which had its roots in1844. Four generations of 40 years is 160, bringing us into the 21st century. Yes, Adventists have more schools, colleges, universities, hospitals, clinics and doctors worldwide than any other Protestant church, but the imagery of grain which represents harvest, maturity, character is wanting according to Joel. It’s in that context that Joel says,”The day of the Lord is at hand.” v 15.

1. It’s a different time that’s fulfilled. Peter said, “Be not ignornant; a day is with the Lord as 1000 years…God is not slack…the day of the Lord will come.” The 4th Commandment gives men six days to do their work and implies that we are entering on God’s time on the 7th day. So it is after 6,000 years. 2 Peter 3:8 says not to ignore it. “May 5, 2000: The date that Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn will line up with the sun and moon–the first time in 6,000 years.” TIME Mag. implies it’s God’s time?

2. It’s a different kingdom that’s at hand. Christ taught that the kingdom of heaven is within you–blessed are the meek, the merciful, the pure… When the disciples asked about the external kingdom in Acts 1:6, Christ said it wasn’t for them to know “the times and seasons,” a phrase linked to external kingdoms from Dan 2:21.

But Paul uses the same phrase–of “the times and seasons…you know the  day of the Lord [end-time apocalyptic period] comes suddenly when they shall say ‘Peace and safety,’ sudden destruction comes.” 1Thess 5:3.

Paul’s use of “the times and seasons” links back to Dan 2:21,45 when “in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom.” (Not after 7 last plagues when no king is standing at Christ’s visible coming.)

Paul understood the basis of the kingdom was a covenant relationship as God said to Israel–”If you will keep my covenant, you will be to Me a kingdom,” Exod 19:5. Paul included that history when he said, “All those things happened to them for examples…ends of the world.” 1Cor 10:1,11

3. The gospel (good news) has meant different things to different people. The good news in Noah’s time was a boat; it just didn’t seem like good news to most people. The good news for Abraham was real estate, but it took faith to leave everything else for it. The good news in Moses’ time was deliverance for bondage. In Christ’s time, it meant eternal salvation.

The good news for us is better than those, because it includes all of them and more! “He will make us ruler over all that He has” if we meet the conditions in Luke 12:35-37, a wedding parable that we don’t understand. On the topic of the wedding, Christ’s imagery shows we are asleep with our lights out, Matt 25:5. Its messengers are scorned and ill-treated in Matt 22:3-6.
