<p>Since most enthusiast forums have died out these days, most of the best project car builds you see are on YouTube. Not only is YouTube an outstanding format for project builds since you can choose to just post pictures and text (like on a forum) or you can go all out. Builders can show time lapse builds, they can choose to just type text, record voice overs or being on camera. Although not as cheap as forums, project car builds on YouTube still have a small barrier of entry but the end product is way more immersive.</p>



<p>One of my favorite current YouTube builds is user <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Ronald Finger (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.youtube.com/user/hackmandude12" target="_blank">Ronald Finger</a>, who is bringing a 1985 Fiero back to life after it has been sitting for 20 years.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mooresville NC</h2>



<p>While participating in the <a href="https://www.legendarycollectorcars.com/2018/11/trump-charlotte-concours-delegance-2018/">Trump Charlotte Concours d&#8217;Elegance</a> in 2018 we took time out to visit the <a href="https://memorylaneautomuseum.com/">Memory Lane Museum in Mooresville NC</a>. Their web site suggest a little more than the museum delivers. It is contained in a large building and has a lot of cars and related &#8220;stuff&#8221; in it but the displays are poorly kept. When we arrived, late morning, they had to turn the lights on because no one else had yet visited that day. Don&#8217;t let this criticism stop you from visiting. Although there are far better museums you can visit in the Mooresville area and other areas this one does have some interesting cars.</p>



<p>Below are some photos for you. However, do not get too excited about all the rare race cars. Although they are cool to look at do not use them as a guide for how you should restore yours or even how they actually looked back in the day. I am not an expert on vintage NASCAR restorations but I can tell you these, for the most part, are poorly and cheaply restored (created?).</p>



<p>There is an interesting funny car Torino dragster, Richard Petty&#8217;s first race car (wrecked beyond recognition) and other historical items. Enjoy but don&#8217;t accept everything for what it is represented to be.</p>

This car has been in my garage or back yard for over 30 years! Early on it was my daily driver and then served as the &#8220;school car&#8221; for each of my three kids. They all contributed to adding a dent or two here and there. <a href="https://www.legendarycollectorcars.com/2010/04/1967-mustang-project-car-update/">It has gone through a couple of different life cycles but it is now officially my driver classic.</a><a href="https://www.legendarycollectorcars.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_8071-Small.jpeg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-23029" src="https://www.legendarycollectorcars.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_8071-Small-550x367.jpeg" alt="" width="550" height="367" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The car is a real deal Southern California car and has next to no rust but it has been messed with a lot which is ok with me. Our first steps to getting it back to life for cruising have been documented on this site before. <p style="text-align: left;">Last year we added new wheels and tires, new bumpers and cleaned up the interior some. Once we started driving it there were some issues we weren&#8217;t happy with so the car went back into storage for a year while we finished up some other cars. Now we are honestly back on it to make it a safe, comfortable touring car that will get out and drive long distances without worry.</p>

<p>As it turns out, the strange vehicle I saw this morning was a Nissan S-Cargo (snail pun probably intended). According to the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_S-Cargo">Wikipedia article</a> it was a small van produced in Japan from 1989-1992. S-Cargo vans(?) were exported for use in other countries, and are coveted as business advertisement vehicles for their rarity and abundance of ad space.</p>
<p>I also ran across another resource with tech specs for the <a href="http://nissanscargo.blogspot.com/">Nissan S-Cargo</a>.</p>

<p>But I can&#8217;t.</p>
<p>According to <a href="http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/alternative-fuel/electric/chevy-volt-range-tests">real world road tests done by Popular Mechanics</a>, you can only expect to go just over 30 miles after charging all night before the gas engine kicks in and gets very average fuel economy (35 MPG average).</p>
<p>Basically, you get to spend $45K (for the car and charger) to plug your car in every night so you can feel smug about the first 30 minutes of your drive the next morning? That&#8217;s it?</p>
<p>What problem does this solve exactly?</p>
<p>We should have let that company die.</p>
