That’s right – the long-delayed Crush! Frag! Destroy! podcast is finally about to be recorded! There’s just one problem, though… We need a name!

Yes, we have yet to decide on a proper name for this beast and we’re taking suggestions from you, our (potential) listeners. So drop us a comment below with your suggestions and make them good (FYI: FragCast and CrushCast are both already existing shows elsewhere, plus they’re not terribly creative). Give us your best, your weirdest, your most inventive!

Also, if you have any comments, questions or other contributions for us, leave us a comment below, drop us a Twitter message (@CrushFragDstroy) or post on the Facebook page and we’ll try to work them into the show.

Hit the jump for a quick rundown of what we’re going to be covering on our inaugural broadcast.

In addition to the typical introductions and “Whatcha been playing?” segments:

PR Disasters: The ApocalyPS3, IW-Gate and Ubisoft’s DRM issues

GDC 2010 (Specifically, PlayStation Move)

Heavy Rain (Spoiler heavy discussion – you’ve been warned!)

Also, I’m sure there will probably be a healthy dose of tangential discussion as well. But we’ll try to keep that to a required minimum for the moment.

So yes, send us your feedback via any channel we mentioned above, since we want to make this your show as well as ours. We’ll also try to have an email address set up before the next show so you can direct comments there as well.

Wish us luck! We’ll see you guys on the other side…

And you know what that means, right? Weekend Warriors time!

I’ve been sucked into the demo for Chime on XBLA pretty hard, which I’m sure I’ll be purchasing when I have a couple hundred more points to spare. Also, I’m considering poopsocking the first two Yakuza games in preparation for Yakuza 3, but still have yet to decide for sure on that one. Beyond that, I may be playing the notoriously hard-to-start-up “Podcast Recording” game tomorrow as well as the “Finish Writing Reviews and Previews” game – one that I haven’t picked up in far too long.

What about everyone out there? What’s on your playlist this weekend?

OH! I almost forgot – I’ll probably also be sampling the Blur beta on Xbox 360 now that my Live Gold subscription is renewed (thanks to my love for mini-mart sweaty roller food) – all of you should do so as well, since we are GIVING AWAY BETA CODES – SERIOUSLY WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?!

But for real – drop in for a beta code (unless you don’t have an Xbox, in which case you’re kinda beat) and then pop into the comments below and tell us what you’re playing this weekend!

Looks like Activision’s Blur might be to your liking, then. And what luck! – CFD! is giving away codes for the recently started Xbox 360 multiplayer beta!

We’re going to handle this one similarly to out last giveaway, only we’re going to be giving away a couple of prizes each day instead of simply handing them out on a set date. How can you get your hands on a code? It’s simple!

CFD! - You’re already here. Sign in (or sign up if you don’t have an account) and leave a comment on this post

Twitter - Follow our Twitter feed (@CrushFragDstroy) and RT the following: Crush! Frag! Destroy! is giving away 360 Blur beta codes. RT and follow to enter! Details at: http://tinyurl.com/yzb4sz3

Facebook - Join our Facebook page (there’s a box on the right sidebar) and leave a comment in the Just Fans tab

That’s all there is to it. We’ll pick a couple of random winners each day from all the entries put in and we’ll keep going till we’re all out of codes. Pretty easy, eh?

So now that you have a code, what do you do with it? Well, first off, do not try to redeem it via the Xbox 360 dashboard! The codes will not work there.

Visit Blurthegame.com/beta and redeem your code there, after which you’ll receive an email with your code to redeem via the 360. You’ll be smashing fenders before you know it!

And for those Xbox Live Silver members out there who think you’re left out because you can’t play online? When you sign up for the beta, you’ll also get a 48hr trial of Xbox Live Gold, so you can get a taste of the action too! It’s a win/win!

So what are you waiting for? We’re offering you the keys, but you’ve gotta take the initiative!

More details have dropped like a big Dookie bomb on Green Day: Rock Band – the first we’ve heard since the game’s announcement at the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards – including a release date.

Besides the video above and screenshots below, we now know that the game will be going Kerplunk onto shelves worldwide on June 8th, 2010 in two different formats. Want some Warning of what to expect? Well then don’t be a Nimrod and hit the jump for details.

Okay, okay – enough forcing Green Day references into the story. Sorry about that. Let’s get on to the details, shall we?

Not only will Green Day: Rock Band be releasing in the standard disc-only format on PS3, 360 and Wii, but there will also be a “Plus” version for PS3 and 360 which comes with the game (in special packaging), six DLC tracks and full song exporting for $10 more ($69,99). What’s especially interesting is that the tracks are specifically mentioned as being forward compatible with the recently announced Rock Band 3! This bodes very well for anyone worried that their DLC collections might not carry forward.

A partial sampling of the game’s 47 tracks were teased, with “Brain Stew”, “Jaded”, “Hitchin’ a Ride”, “American Idiot”, “Wake Me Up When September Ends” and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” specifically mentioned. Also, any currently owned Green Day DLC from the Rock Band Store would be playable in-game with added vocal harmonies and additional supplemental material.

Speaking of supplemental material, much like The Beatles: Rock Band, Green Day fans will be able to access over 100 collectible images and over 40 minutes of rare interview, outtake and performance footage. Sounds like the kind of deal only an American Idiot would pass up.

Sorry, sorry – it was hard not to squeeze one more in there.

The second piece of this week’s Rock Band related news is arguably the most awesome (and most bizarre) of them all. Brace yourself, kids. It’s going to get messy in here.

Not only is next week’s Rock Band DLC bundle a 4-pack of tracks from the iconoclastic electro-pop diva, Lady GaGa, but there will also be a extra single release of one of her biggest hits, as covered by South Park, Colorado’s own Eric Cartman.

Hit the jump for details while you let that all sink in.

Indeed, while “Lady Gaga Pack 01″ may not contain your own dress made of stuffed Kermits or a lobster headpiece, it does have four of her biggest hits: “Bad Romance”, “Just Dance”, “Monster”, and “Poker Face”. You can pick up the tracks at the following, familiar price points.

$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) per track

$6.99, £3.49 UK, €5.29 EU (560 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) for “Lady Gaga Pack 01”

$2.00 USD (200 Wii Points™) per track

However, what has my interest even more is the cover of “Poker Face” performed by Eric Cartman in the 13th season South Park episode, “Whale Whores”, which will be available next week as a single track download (aww, come on! Make it part of the pack!).

You have no idea how hard it was to get that cover out of my head in the weeks following the airing of that episode. I even had to turn to looking for fan-made full versions of the song online to hold me over in absence of an official version. Now we just have to see if the “I don’t give a crap ’bout whales/So go and hug a tree!” line stays in. Here’s to hoping.

Who needs press releases when you have Facebook? That’s the location where Harmonix decided to confirm – in between your friends’ horoscopes and the ten-thousand Farmville updates they’ve posted today alone – that Rock Band 3 is indeed a thing which is real, and bound for retail in the 2010 holiday season.

Still being distributed by EA (so either the publishing deal has been renewed, or perhaps this title was already covered under the previous one), Rock Band 3 promises to “innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again”. No word just yet on what these innovative, revolutionary updates will entail.

I speak for everyone out there who’s spent an almost obscene amount of money on Rock Band DLC when I say that Harmonix had best make every currently available track forward compatible with the new game or they’re going to be facing a seriously uphill battle against all of the consumer goodwill they’ve built up over the last couple of years. You don’t establish your platform as the go-to for the biggest library of songs and then jerk it out from under the rug of your loyal customers.

Not that Harmonix has a track record of doing such. But still, an official statement on the subject would make everybody rest a lot easier.

Let’s be honest here; with such a fertile ground of classic adventure gaming available to mine it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that the other Monkey Island titles would be getting the same revamp love as last year’s The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition. And that’s just what LucasArts announced this evening!

Indeed, ye scurvy bilge rats! Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge sets sail this summer for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, iPhone/iPod Touch, PC and probably every other platform in the known universe if you just give them time enough. And it’s not just the same old facelift (and… earlift? what would a re-orchestrated soundtrack count as?) that the first release got (though it does have all of those same features again).

No, this time, Monkey Island 2 SE sports some fresh new doodads, such as the option for direct control over Guybrush Threepwood if point-and-click controls aren’t your thing, a new interactive hint system that will highlight objects of interest, audio commentary from the game’s creators, and an in-game art viewer as well!

Not enough for you? Man, you are hard to please – I don’t even know if the treasure of Big Whoop will be enough to satiate your hunger. How about the added announcement that if you missed the first Monkey Island SE due to not owning one of the platforms it was released on, that you’ll soon be able to find it on PS3, Mac (via Game Agent), and from TellTale and Instant Action’s stores for PC.

Good? I thought so. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go clean Rob Rich’s exploded head off of the floor after that news. The gr3ml1n5 are refusing to do it. Ewww…

It’s been a while since I’ve cried tears of pure joy. Today is one of those rare days.

NBC and Bigpoint have unveiled plans to release an in-browser Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game based on one of the best television shows ever, Battlestar Galactica.

Brilliantly titled Battlestar Galactica Online, the game will combine “tactical space combat and adventure” as you choose your loyalty to either Humans or Cylons.

In a press release, Universal Partnerships and Licensing’s Vice President Bill Kispert said, “Battlestar Galactica is a supremely gameable intellectual property, with compelling character classes, a fantastic array of ships and weaponry, multiple worlds, and a dramatic storyline.”

The game will offer space-based combat and mission oriented gameplay all while utilizing 3D visuals and assets from the television production.

Available on SyFy.com for the initial 30 days, Battlestar Galactica Online will likely be the first (and last) in-browser MMO I’ve played since Runescape. Let’s hope these tears of joy continue and don’t transform to droplets of pain and anguish when the game launches this fall.

It’s official. Arc is out – Move is in. PlayStation Move, that is.

Touting 1:1 motion sensing and a latency of “only one frame”, Sony rolled out their long awaited motion controller platform at GDC 2010. Hit the jump for details from the press conference.

SCEA’s Peter Dille led the unveiling of the finally-named peripheral and gave us an idea of what to look for when it hits the market. The control system will supposedly be available in three different packages: the Move Controller alone for those who already own the PlayStation Eye, a “starter kit” with the PlayStation Eye, controller and a game (supposedly for less than $100), and a full bundle package of the above along with a PlayStation 3 system.

Sony then featured a B-roll that showed a surprisingly Wii-like marketing push, with the usual scenes of families playing in living rooms, but with augmented reality-style visuals. Archery, golf and more were shown.

Gladiator Duel, a mode in a game called Sports Champions (which was shown in the b-roll) was then demoed. Two motion controllers were used to manipulate a sword and shield in a 1st/3rd person area combat scenario. Another Sports Champions mode was shown next – table tennis – which looked pretty standard. Some small stabs were made at the Nintendo competition’s lack of precision as they pressed on how much difference the controller’s precision made in assisting with topspin and the like.

Next, a WarioWare-style mini-game collection called Move Party! was shown, which didn’t look to be all that different from the usual EyeToy style of gameplay, other than the augmented reality objects replacing the Move Controller in the player’s hands, on-screen.

LittleBigPlanet was shown with Move-enhanced level editing/co-op capability, somewhat reminiscent of Super Mario Galaxy’s 2nd player star collection, with Sony even going so far as to make the comparison of younger siblings/children playing with their family. New materials were shown that the Move Controller can interact with.

A montage of EyePet enhancements, set to Owl City’s “Fireflies” followed, showing actually very little added Move functionality, other than using it to draw images directly onto the screen.

Motion Fighters came next, showing gritty 3rd person brawling and looking extremely tech-demo-y, with a lot of input lag. Mind you, these demos are all pre-alpha, but this one in particular wasn’t exactly a good showing, in my opinion.

Finally, PlayStation Move Sub-controller (the rumored PS3 Nunchuck) was finally revealed. Full support for the newly announced SOCOM 4 was the first thing mentioned and the game was demoed by Zipper while not “jumping around like a maniac” (wow, another Nintendo jab?), leaving it looking like little more than a mouse pointer replacement for right stick aiming. Zipper team added functionality quickly and late in the game, supposedly pointing to how easy to implement it was.

And after touting supposedly heavy third party support being in place, it was over. If you’re at GDC, you’re probably already playing with the Move as I write this. The rest of us will have to wait a bit longer to get our own hands on it.
