Installed network kvm synergy;

sudo apt-get install synergy

I couldn’t get a connection to work running as a service on my Mac Book Pro, so set it to Desktop mode which connected straight away.

Install and configure Raspbian

Download image from http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads

Copy over image to the SD Card
sudo dd bs=1m if=/Users/alisterjupp/Downloads/2013-02-09-wheezy-raspbian.img of=/dev/rdisk5

Extend OS to full size of SD Card via raspi-config at first boot

Install required packages

sudo apt-get install python-dev python-setuptools

iface eth0 inet static

with info below following;

address 192.168.0.111
netmask 255.255.255.0
network 192.168.0.0
broadcast 192.168.0.255
gateway 192.168.0.1

update repo lists and upgrade

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get upgrade -y

Set to local time

sudo ln -sf /usr/share/zoneinfo/Australia/Perth /etc/localtime

Install MySQL

sudo apt-get install mysql-server

Configure MySQL to listen for connections from all network hosts

edit /etc/mysql/my.cnf

comment out the bind-address = 127.0.0.1

create xbmc user and assign permissions

CREATE USER 'xbmc' IDENTIFIED BY 'xbmc'

GRANT ALL ON *.* TO 'xbmc'

import database from NAS

Configure XBMC clients to use this database
