Why a GPS Tracking Device for Kids?

When was the last time you had to search for your little one when you went to the mall, park or day out on the beach and asked yourself “Where are they?”. If this has happened to you recently, but you were able to find your precious child you are one of the many fortunate. Recent statistics tabulated as late as 2018 show that in the United States alone, every 40 seconds, yes every forty seconds, a child goes missing or is abducted by strangers. One child in 10,000 never returns. Those are statistics that would waken any parent and keep their children close to them when they leave home or even out on the street.

So why wonder that more and more parents are arming themselves as well as their children with ways to track their children. One growing trend among guardians who have responsibility for children is obtaining GPS tracking devices for kids. The FBI NCIC recently reported that nearly half a million (560K) children go missing every year and there is no way to track them. That is more than Australia, Canada, Germany, India, Russia, Spain, and the UK combined.

So there is a great need for keeping children safe from being lost and abducted. If they are lost having a way to be located is important. There are many things to keep in mind when shopping for a GPS device for kids. Here are a few things to keep in mind before you make your decision to purchase or not and if so, which device you choose for your child.

Ease of Use

When a child is given a tracking device it needs to be simple enough for the child, but also sophisticated enough to reach your child at any moment. Today’s smartphone is an option, but parents would be happy to know their child is in a general location, but if necessary they can contact them. Also, the GPS tracking device needs to be durable enough to remain on the child and not be able to be removed by a slight jolt or jostle in the park or pool. That leads to another advantage is the use of the tracking device. What use will the GPS tracking be used for? Will it be pool or park, touring in a big city or blackberry picking on a blackberry farm?

Communication,Comfort/Design

One of the most essential elements of a GPS tracking device is being able to have the comfort of hearing your child’s voice when necessary. That is for many parents a #1 advantage of having a tracking device.

I place these last two assets of a GPS tracking device together since they depend upon one another. If the device is designed well for comfort and durability, then the device will have a look that doesn’t make the child cringe every time they see the device coming out. It doesn’t have to have a cartoon or superhero emblazoned on the device, but sometimes that can also help.

Water Resistance & Range

If most of your time will be at the pool in the Summer away from home, then water resistance is the way to go. It would be a feature very helpful on a crowded beach.

How far the device will track your child is another critical advantage. If your child takes off and doesn’t know which direction to go they may wander far in a direction furthest from you rather than turning back. If all of these advantages can fit within one GPS tracking device and within your budget then you have a winner.

It is no secret that the crypto market has been struggling for the past 14 months or so. There are a number of investors who lost their money thinking that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies were continuously going to sore last year. Unfortunately, what they didn’t know was that it peaked in December of 2017. Bitcoin reached almost $20K only to have a massive correction, losing 80% of their value.

Now, the problem with cryptocurrencies is that adoption didn’t happen last year. One of the reasons why adoption took a bit slower than experts predicted was also due to the lack of regulations that governed cryptocurrencies. Nowadays, regulators have been concerned regarding the possibility of tax evasion and money laundering through the use of cryptocurrencies.

Now, considering these realities, could it be possible that it will take a longer time before we see adoption become a reality? There are those cryptocurrencies such as XRP that has been getting traction from institutions. The goal of Ripple is to lessen the cost of cross border transactions. With banks utilizing XRP, money can be sent and received in seconds. Also, it is a reality that there are also other cryptocurrencies that are now being accepted as a mode of payment. Bitcoin is now being used for this purpose.
