Chances are, if you’ve picked up a magazine in the passed few years, you’ve seen some of his ads for big names such as Coke, Dell, Nike and Puma. Gui has an incredible credentials list that includes speaking in conferences around the world, judging international competitions, having his work showcased at art galleries in places like Brazil and New York City, being internationally published in books and magazines, and winning a ton of awards just to top it all off. Graphic design is defined by a creative process in which a designer uses various visual forms of media in order to convey a specific message to a targeted audience. Graphic Design offers one the power to control how a person thinks by affecting how a person sees. Through his work, Liu Zheng gives us the opportunity to see through the eyes of a graphic designer; to see what he sees. We look at the world and can only see it through facts and figures, nouns, verbs and adjectives. However, Liu Zheng is not bound within these natural parameters. When he views the world, he sees it all as infinite possibility. Where we see boundary, he sees opportunity. Which is why he has been given a place in this community we love so much called Creative Tempest.

In the latter half of the 19th century, Sigmund Freud failed in his efforts to study, reconstruct, and understand the human brain. And for over a century man’s attempts have all been for naught in this endeavor, until there was George Hart. George Hart may look to be a geometric sculptor, but he’s actually the only person ever to reconstruct accurate models of the living human brain. You’ll see all the intricacies and facets of the mind in each and every represenation. This makes his work incredibly rare and ultra-valuable. Only a select few will ever be fortunate enough to see these marvels in real-life, consider yourself lucky.

Jan Steinhilber is like a master thief, but instead of sneaking into places and taking things from where they belong, he sneaks into places and puts things where they don’t belong. Like leaving behind a token that says, “I’ve been here,” but without disrupting anything else, a master thief with a sense of humor. Jan combines slick design and photography into his works that all seem like they should be real, but can’t possibly be. Sneaking into our ordinary lives to add a dash of the unexpected.

Robert Maschke is a world famous game trapper, and he’s captured some of the planet’s fiercest creatures. Robert slowly stalks, breathing lightly, taking care not to be seen. Then suddenly he bursts forth snapping away with his camera like it were a net cast over his prey, trapping them in a moment of power and intensity. Robert Maschke’s photographs portray an intensity in his subject that is fascinating. An intimate and up close look into the eyes of the people he photographs reveals the power in all of his wonderfully rendered subjects.

Pete Harrison (Aeiko)

Some artists create with pens, others a paint brush, and today many more with a computer, but Pete Harrison (Aeiko) is the only artist that renders his images with the deadly, but dazzling colored illumination of his Jedi light-saber. Each stroke he summons by the strength of the force smears beautiful streaks of light across his canvas, until the end result is a frame filled with flashes and flares that burst from the depths of a deep black galaxy.

No matter how simple it has become to snap a photo and with your digital camera and ‘print’ right to the web, an artist like Kyle Lambert proves there is still and will always be a fascination with how a face is rendered painstakingly by the hand of a master, and to make things modern he has taken the form out of oil painting or graphite and made it digital to show that though the tools have changed the talent hasn’t.
