You are probably reading this because you are wondering the all too familiar question of whether or not you or your business needs to get involved with social media. Making a decision requires much thought before taking the leap into the venture. There is a substantial amount of time and energy that goes into making a great social media campaign. While there are several service providers on the Web that guide you through the process there are some things that you will want to keep in mind.

What’s My Password Again?

An effective social media marketing campaign consists of a multi-faceted approach to delivering your message and connecting with your contacts online. There are many sites on the Internet that have a social element and that can help you with all of your social marketing objectives. Be ready to commit a fair amount of time to your online social media campaign as a whole.

One Size Fits All

Just like no two businesses are alike, neither are campaigns. There are several factors that need to be taken into consideration when making a decision on your approach. Some of the deciding factors may include where online your time is best spent and where will your messaging be the most effective. Although there may be some standard places where you will want your presence to be, there is no checklist that suits every project. We will be able to assist you in leveraging the most effective tools for your particular goals

Maximum Exposure

With exposure comes risk. As a result of getting involved with social media in by nature it exposes you to multiple risks. This is usually the most common apprehension that most individuals and organizations have before deciding to take the leap into the social party. Just like any business operation, risk is inherent and should be monitored but not ignored. Some of the most successful organizations that leverage social media do a wonderful job of mitigating risk by using the tools properly.

No One Likes to be Force-fed

Believe it or not, there is an acceptable and an unacceptable/ unappreciated way to get your message across or to promote your cause. There are many stats, theories and strategies that you will have to take into consideration when performing in the social networking arena. Sharing cool and useful information keeps your listeners engaged in addition to responding back. Listening is paramount and an effective way to deliver small wins that can turn into big success.

Welcome to the Party!

With just about everyone with some type of profile or involvement on the Internet, it makes for an awesome opportunity to propagate your message. People will share what they are doing, where they are shopping, what they are eating as well as some pretty boring stuff too.

In an effort to build traffic for our recently launched baseball site, we recently launched a new online website to shorten URLs. Although, it may seem like everyone is making their own version of the handy technology, we have done a little branding to ours.

Those of you not familiar with the need to shorten URLs may appreciate the practicality of turning a 100-plus character URL into 22 characters. With the frequent use of micro-blogging, instant messaging and email, it is often more convenient to send a shorter URL. While some may say that it would be easier just to copy the entire address bar and send it over, we agree to a certain extent. We also know that there are situations, while communicating virtually, that have some space limitations to take into consideration. That is the first reason why we decided to look into the idea.

The second portion behind our justification was branding. With fairly little overhead and short amount of time, Creative Ops, was able to deploy a URL shortening tool that would compliment the All Arizona Baseball destination location. The domain would be easily recognizable, short and catchy, in the interest of trying to get it to spawn usage.

While traffic on the site is slowly beginning to increase, we have made arrangements to assist local sports website Fanster.com with their 2009 Spring Training coverage, which includes building out the Spring Training portion of their website. While this relationship will serve as an opportunity to increase local exposure in the Phoenix Metro area, we have also planned to partner up with one of the largest, most successful Metro Rail Blogs, Rail Life. Both organizations have been diligently shortening their URLs using the tool and for that we are both gracious and excited. Additional plans for the tool include integration with AZ Hardball.com’s article pages for the delivery of links to friends.

The obvious story of 2008 has been the economic downturn in addition the struggles that American business has experienced. Big and small, businesses tweaked their marketing strategies to get more bang for their buck. Creative Ops was no exception to this movement.

As a proof of concept, AZ Hardball was created during the Arizona Fall League. The Creative Ops marketing team decided since the phone was no longer ringing, it was time to watch some Fall Ball. The team created a destination site for everything that Major League Baseball had to offer in the state of Arizona. Taking advantage of the opportunity to be able to stay on top of all of the latest baseball developments in the state of Arizona and having a network that would be able to syndicate sports content, the site successfully launched in October of ‘08 and is still running strong.

In short, the goal was to receive increased exposure to the interactive portion of the business. This was accomplished by providing and promoting content by using a viral marketing strategy. Within months, AZ Hardball content was being featured by several media outlets including USA Today and TNT. The marketing team succeeded by sending plenty of additional opportunity our way … and we all got to watch the sport we love too.

One might be surprised to learn of the amount of rugby activity that there is in the Valley of the Sun. We have had the pleasure of meeting many rugby participants throughout the state including Aussies and New Zelanders. The Phoenix Rugby site has a special place in our portfolio in that it was one of the first opportunities for a complete redesign.

Redesigned a number of years ago, the board members were pleased with the update to the site and continued to maintain it on their own. Creative Ops decided to take the site one step further. By deploying a content management system for the rugby club, it enabled the client to make changes to the site on the fly on an as needed basis. Additionally, a user contributed photo gallery was added to the site and contact and registration controls were added to assist the Phoenix Rugby Club with managing their visitors and members information.

The project requirements included maintaining the original content and making it easier for the leaders of the organization to make changes on a regular basis. By providing the organization with a CMS implamentaiton, we achieved our client’s goals.

There is nothing like a large community event to bring the City of Phoenix and it’s metropolitian neighbors together. The weekend of December 27, 2008 marks an exciting day in the state’s history.

Creative Ops will be at the engagement collecting content and footage of the event as they help the interactive community by being several places at once. We have had the distinct plaesure and opportunity to network with several of the participants and are looking forward to an exciting weekend.

There are countless possibilities of what the new Light Rail can do for the community and the city infrastructure. For those reasons and more, we a pleased that we will be able to take place in such a historical event.
