Abstract Expressionism Dissertation

MTV Video Music Awards India

This was one of my fav assignments. We were asked to redesign and re-brand the MTV Music Awards India. Getting inspired by Indian Music - kites was the first thing that came to my mind, and getting highly inspired by Kites - my re branding for the MTV VMAI was created. I have designed a logo, tickets, posters, flash animation and website for the same.

BANGALORE MAP

This was a live brief by Rangashankara - A Theater run by the famous Bollywood celebrity : ARUNDATI NAG. We had to design a Bangalore map, but not the usual way. Being a creative person, and the brief being a map of "Bangalore" i got inspired by "NANDI - The Wish Granting Bull". So here's my version of the map with an index at the back.

Later, i tried my hand at creating a new version for the map, and this time I got inspired by the Yakshagana Masks.

This was a huge and a massive 10 days assignment. We were taught 10 different ART-ERAS / ART-MOVEMENTS and everyday we had to come up with designs corresponding to the era/movement we were taught. I choose Himalayan Drinking Water - PACKAGING, out of the other topics that we were given.

GRAPHIC DESIGN

This assignment is my personal best assignment. We had to experiment (material exploration) and come up with new TYPE FACES. My experiment was with Bulbs and its Reflections. I first painted the bulb black and then scraped a portion of the paint to form an alphabet (negative space). Then I photographed the Reflection of the Alphabet on a plain surface and that formed my experiment. I took those photographs further and created a type form of my own which I named it as - PERSPECTRONIC.

This was a college assignment exercise where-in we had to redesign the corporate identity for THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES 2010 that was hosted by India. My first logo inspiration was our National Bird - The Peacock. But then I got highly inspired by the Indian Emblem - The Ashoka Pillars which got finally approved by my teachers. My logo was designed keeping in mind the games element with the Indian feel in it. With respect to the Logo that I created I also designed the supporting logos and the pictograms.

This was a college assignment wherein we had to make a poster ad campaign for Kurl-on mattress. here in my posters I have pointed out on a major element that kurl-on mattresses possess - zero pressure point technology. I have taken that point into consideration and compared it to Yoga and Aerobics.

This was a college assignment on CHRISTMAS CHILDREN FILM FEST. Here I have used a Santa's cap instead of the pop-corn bucket and used a Christmas holly instead of the cherry on the burger as the first thing you look out for in a movie theater is for pop-corn and burgers to munch upon.

MILK PACKAGING

This is again a hypothetical Milk Brand that we came up after 2 days of brainstorming. Milk name is RISE AND SHINE. We had to design the packaging of this milk for 4 different variants/flavors namely

whole milk
skimed milk
double cream milk
soya milk

I have tried to differentiate between the flavors buy giving different packs different colors. My pack is logo oriented. I have tried to keep the pack clean and white. There is a particular reason for using a particular color for a particular flavor :

whole milk = blue = regular mind set of human beings (milk = blue)
skimmed milk = green = masculine color (conscious of health; wanted to break the trend of human minds that only girls want to become slim so such products should be in pink)
double cream milk = orange = royal color (rich color; like kesar)
soya milk = brown = regular mind set of human beings (soya = brown)

Our college had taken part in intercollegiate competition wherein we had competitions like mind games, management games, advertising skills etc. Myself and 5 other classmates studying Advertising and Graphic Design, made up the team of 6 members required to participate for the competition. The topic was given to us the day prior to the competition and our topic was Bajaj Bikes. We chose Bajaj Pulsar Bike as the subject. We had to deliver our creative ideas in three different medias namely Print Ad, Radio Jingle and a TVC. Everyone came uyp with their ideas when finally we decided and freezed one of the ideas and executed it. My core contribution was in the TVC editing and the Paper Ad editing. For the TVC editing i used Adobe Premier Pro where as for the Paper Ad editing I used Adobe Photoshop.

This was my 2nd Semester END TERM ASSIGNMENT. We had to prepare a magazine spread. The core purpose of this assignment was to assess our software skills. I used Adobe Photoshop to edit the picture and took help of Adobe Indesign to design the layout and keep in place the text and picture so as to look as a magazine spread. We had the freedom to choose the latest and the happening topic at that time. I choose this particular topic as i did this in winters and all i could think of is the craziness of going to a beach and walking without my shirts on the cool beach sand and enjoy the way the cool breeze touch me, and also Bikini Fashion was on the uprise, So i choose this topic.
