NOTE: If you are BIC or BIC eligible (status per the NCREC), you must now take the Broker-in-Charge Update (BICUP). If you are not a Broker-in-Charge or Broker-in-Charge eligible, you take the General Update (GenUp), formerly know as the Mandatory Update. If you take the “wrong” update it can mean the loss of BIC or BIC eligible status, or it can mean you get no CE credit. Do not take both updates.

Class Location

All class locations will be communicated upon confirmation.

Course Descriptions

BICUP – Commercial Version (CE Approved)
The Broker-in-Charge Update Course (BICUP) is a mandatory update course for all Brokers-in-Charge who wish to remain Broker-in-Charge as of July 1, 2015 for the 2015-16 licensing period. BICs must also complete a four hour elective course to satisfy CE compliance requirements. Only licensees who are Brokers-in-Charge or Broker-in-Charge eligible will receive credit for this course.

GenUp – Commercial Version (CE Approved)
The 2014-15 General Update (formerly Mandatory Update) will provide updates about electronic record-keeping requirements revised rules and laws, selected topics, licensing and education review, and more. It is strongly recommended that commercial practitioners take the commercial version. PLEASE NOTE: BICs and BIC-eligible brokers will now take the new BIC Update and a four hour elective and will NOT take the GenUp.

Ethics for Commercial Agents (CE Approved)
Satisfy the REALTOR® ethics education requirement plus get CE credit. This course covers the REALTOR® Code of Ethics, utilizing case studies. Procuring cause of sale issues and arbitration procedures round out the session. A fun way to meet two education requirements in one fast-paced setting. The next NAR ethics quadrennial requirement is due December 31, 2016.

Due Diligence Issues in Commercial Real Estate (CE Approved)
What do we need to know when doing a commercial transaction and where do we find the information? Doesn’t building code cover all accessibility issues? This course includes an easy to use Small business Guide on the ins and outs of ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) which every commercial practitioner should have as well as a lengthy due diligence checklist covering land use, site, legal, personal, tenant, financial, marketing and building items which may need further investigation before a deal can proceed.

10 Risks Commercial Brokers Must Manage – Commercial Version (CE Approved)
The devil is in the details…It usually isn’t the big stuff which causes us problems, it’s the small stuff we overlook that turns into the big stuff. This course will examine 10 common areas which can trip up even the most conscientious commercial real estate broker. Case studies will be used to look at anti-trust issues, getting the proper paperwork signed so we can get paid, proper payment to employees, managing social media and much more.
