<p>We are taking orders for organic free range turkeys for Thanksgiving. Henry and Ila Miller, family farmers near Kalona have been providing turkeys for our CSA members for at least 7 years. They are wonderful tasting fresh turkeys. </p>
<p>The price per pound will be $2.90. You will pay when you pick up your turkey. </p>
<p>Henry says to expect smaller turkeys this year 12-15#. They have not been growing as fast as expected. Must be the year for farming challenges! </p>
<p>The turkeys will be available for pickup on Tuesday November 24th 4:30 to 6:30 PM </p>
<p>Metro High School kitchen (Park in lot behind school on 12th Ave at 8th Street to access kitchen) </p>

<p>Chickens may be ordered whole or cut up priced at: </p>

<p>                 $3.00 per lb for cut-up chicken.  </p>
<p> Chickens will be in the 5-6 lb range.  </p>

<p>Another Downtown Market will be held Saturday, July 18 from 7:30 a.m.-noon. This special market will be an official “Green Day” with local organizations demonstrating various “green” projects, including recycling games, resources, cleaning projects, composite and plant displays, solar toys and more.</p>
<p>The market will be held along Third and Fourth Avenues and include Second and Thirds Streets SE and Green Square Park. Free parking is available at the Fourth Avenue parkade, Ground Transporation Center ramp and on-street. Handicapped accessible parking will be available in the True North parking lot along Fifth Street SE.</p>
<p>Entertainment for the July 18 market includes Kevin BF Burt, Dancer’s Edge, Twillering Starlets/Lin Mar Twillers, Open Mic, Library Story Time, Iowa Children’s Museum, street entertainment from Mark Brown and Junk Funk. A cooking demonstration will be hosted by DC Riverwalk. ImpactCR will be on site to launch their new program T.A.G. (Think. Act. Give.) and the Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce will be on site for their Buy In program. </p>

set up a table is $25 and you must be registered to participate.</p>

This spring, I taught myself  the PHP programming language to improve my professional skill set. To practice,  I created The Farmer’s Garden website. The site, www.thefarmersgarden.com is a  place where people can post free classifieds to sell, trade or give away their  surplus backyard garden produce. </span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText">
<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-family: Tahoma;">I launched my site in May  2009 and it is nationwide.</span> I think it is a great resource for members of  your community. It is very easy to grow more produce than you and your family  can use. Why not share your local, fresh and delicious vegetables, fruit,  berries, etc. with others?</p>
