Chemical Brothers “The Pills Won’t Help You Now”

We’ve been having a bit of an internal discussion on Chemical Brothers albums (what’s the best, etc) and the album We Are The Night came up, which was pretty universally panned when it first came out (p4k gave it a 3.8 amongst others). However, it is an overlooked album, that is a bit strange, that has seemed to just get better over time.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Soundtrack is quite awesome

My night was spent in awe of the hilarious (and badass) throwback “reskin” of Far Cry 3. It’s full of purposefully cheesy cut scenes and one liners along with some amazing gameplay that involves robots, great weapons and dragons that shoot laser beams out of their eyes.

However, one of the most impressive things is the soundtrack which you can listen to in full below as well as purchase on itunes. The soundtrack is composed by Powerglove (a power-metal band that covers video game soundtracks).

New Wild Nothing “A Dancing Shell” Music Video

One of my favorite albums to come out of last year (that I still play at least 3 times a week in full) is Wild Nothing’s Nocturne. Now that have a song and video out from their upcoming EP Empty Estate due out tomorrow (05/14).

Wild Nothing will be playing The Metro Gallery on June 10th with Twin Tigers. Tickets on sale now.

Speaking of DFA, here’s a track from Cali duo Classixx featuring vocals from LCD’s own Nancy Wang. This nostalgic 80′s dance/disco gem is the perfect music to throw on when you’re jamming out to tunes as you get ready for the night. The entire album, Hanging Gardens, can be streamed over at NPR. MS MR, one of our bands to watch recently gave the remix treatment to Danish singer MØ’s “Pilgrim” Personally i like this even more than the original. Recommended if you like a MUCH better version of Lana Del Ray.

The Snails

Attended the great TransModern festival this past weekend and was fortunate to be able to catch The Snails (amongst other great performances), made up of members of Future Islands, Nuclear Power Pants, Small Sur, Drew Swinburne, Wing Dam, and The Dave Fell Band. Wearing multi-patterned snail hats and telling one-liner snail Jokes, the band put on a great ska’ish set and I am really looking forward to hearing a full album of theirs.

New Video for Tycho’s – Ascension

Back in 2011 when Scott Hansen, the man behind the design/graphical design blog ISO50, came out with an album under the name Tycho we were skeptical but his smooth and accessible sem-ambient/chill tunes won us over, and then i somehow forgot about it…until now, where he gives us the video for “Ascension”, which looks like the beautiful video version of the cover art. I will certainly be revisiting this album all week now. Seems he is currently in the studio recording the follow up. great news.
