His now famous words

"Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate. Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall"
turned into reality a little over 2 years later.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, an historic occasion which Obama has chosen not to participate in, because apparently he is too dang busy. Of course, he wasn't too busy when he was campaigning to make a grand appearance there, but I suppose that was different. At the time, he was trying to win hearts and minds of the American people and the rest of the world, but since he won the presidency he doesn't have to work so hard. It's actually rather shameful considering what tearing down the wall symbolized.

So, 20 years ago the Wall was torn down and with that came freedom for the East Berlin Germans. Ironically, though the cold war ended several years later, it's been replaced with another war, one far more terrifying because the enemy has no moral compass. At least with the communists there was the whole issue of MAD (mutually assured destruction). There was never really any fear (at least for me) that they would actually attack us. Islamists, on the other hand, would love nothing more than to destroy us and our western ways. And there are no borders. Their terror is not relegated to one region. It is global and far reaching.

As for freedom, we are no longer free. Islamists have constructed an invisible wall, that we have helped to build through our PCness, that may not be so easy to knock down. Our freedom of speech has been drastically reduced. People fear being called Islamaphobic, so they keep their mouths shut. People fear offending, so they censor themselves. The director of 2012, Roland Emmerich, scrapped a scene (where the Kaaba in Mecca was to be destroyed, along with Rio's Christ The Redeemer) because he feared a fatwa. And it's not just the Islamists; conservatives in this country are not free, either. If we criticize Obama and his leftist policies we're called racists and other nasty things. At least we're not killed for our criticism.

It's incumbent upon us to make sure that we don't allow others to infringe upon our freedoms, by fighting the good fight. Tear down the shackles of bondage and let freedom ring!

Take the Spiegel Berlin Wall Quiz for fun. Mrs. Biorkman is friends with the a.m. DJ on Michigan radio station WKSR and sent an email with the request.

Christmas Cards Requested
Posted on November 04, 2009

Christmas will come early for a five year old Michigan boy this year. Well, the environmentalists are back at it again calling for the elimination of plush-type toilet paper because it's un-green to use anything softer than wax paper to wipe our butts.

Although toilet paper and tissues account for only 5 percent of the U.S. paper industry, to environmentalists 5 percent is more than they can bear. I suppose they'd be happiest if we used corn cobs or newspapers to do our business, but they'll settle for recycled toilet paper instead, it seems. So they've been lobbying manufacturers to go green and make their t.p. more environmentally friendly by using recycled materials. Apparently Green peace has been doing their bit to put pressure on the paper industry:

Last month, Greenpeace announced an agreement that it said would change this industry from the inside. The environmental group had spent 4 1/2 years attacking Kimberly-Clark, the makers of Kleenex and Cottonelle toilet paper, for getting wood from old-growth forests in Canada. But the group said it is calling off the "Kleercut" campaign: Kimberly-Clark had agreed to make its practices greener. By 2011, the company said, 40 percent of the fiber in all its tissue products will come from recycled paper or sustainable forests.

One manufacturer of recycled t.p., Marcal, is trying to convince people that strength is better than soft.

"Strength of toilet paper is more important, for obvious reasons," said Spring, the chief executive, guiding a golf cart among the machinery that whizzes up vast stacks of old paper, whips it into a slurry, and dries it into rolls of toilet paper big enough for King Kong. He said his final product is as strong as any of the big-name brands. "If the paper breaks during your use of toilet paper, obviously, that's very, very important."

Don't get me wrong, although I don't buy into the global warming hysteria, I think recycling is extremely important, and trashing our earth is a crime, but anyone who wants to do away with soft toilet paper needs to experience a bout of dysentery or know what it feels like to have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) or any of the Inflammatory Bowel Diseases before they decide to nix plush toilet paper. I think they would sing a very different tune.

Lose weight with Nancy Pelosi's "Sweating To The Socialists

Need to shed some of those extra pounds. To commemorate the day, the IFPS is sponsoring 73-year-old Kurt Westergaard on a tour of several U.S. cities-including Yale, Princeton and New York city. Westergaard was one of 12 artists who created cartoons of Mohammed in response to Denmark's caving in to political correctness with regards to Islamic shariah law. Not surprisingly, since publishing his Mohammed with a bomb-atop-his-turban cartoon, Westergaard has needed state security for protection, since his life has been threatened. a day that some of us, who witnessed the true face of evil, will remember in vivid, horrific detail. The 3,000 innocents who died. Those poor souls who chose to jump to their deaths rather than burn alive. The massive destruction and devastation. But for others, as the years pass by, the memories start to fade and what happened on that fateful Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001 has less impact, and in some cases forgotten. A few days ago I mentioned to someone that we were approaching 9/11- they asked what was so important; they had simply forgotten what had occurred that day.

What transpired that tuesday was not a terrible accident, or a tragic act of nature, it was a deliberate, flagrant act of aggression against this country and its citizens by religious Muslim fanatics. And although those Saudi Arabian funded jihadists who hijacked the planes on 9/11 would be considered extremists, what about all those people who were dancing in the streets in the Middle East, celebrating the death of 3,000 men, women and children? Should they too be considered extremists? I think not.

The problem with the passage of time is that complacency settles in, and with complacency we become less vigilant. Back when the memories were fresh, we understood how real the threat of Islamic fundamentalism was and were being proactive. But things have changed since then. We have become politically correct, appeasers, unwilling to offend those who would love to do us harm. What was once coined "the Global War on Terror", is no longer part of our government's terminology in describing our fight against global terrorism. Suddenly, the terrorists have rights and our CIA are under scrutiny. With Obama's naive and frankly dangerous belief that we can reach out and touch an Islamic fundamentalist, by trying to negotiate with the likes of the Taliban and other crazies like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will lead this country to destruction, or at least another terrorist attack on our soil.

I realize that there are times when it is best to forget and move on, but there are certain events that we should never forget, and 9/11 is one of those. And we need to be even more vigilant.

God Bless the victims, their families and all the heroes of 9/11!

Joke of the day- Obama Self Portrait

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; I'm sure people automatically assumed some right-wing, gun toting, middle-aged conservative was responsible, because anything that happens to be anti-Obama of course must originate from the the Republican camp. And although the mystery of who has been placing these posters nationwide still remains, well, a mystery, the L.A Times actually tracked down the person who initially created the graphics for Obama as The Joker, and it's definitely not who you would think it would be.

Firas Alkhateeb, a 20 year-old student of Palestinian descent, whose family lives in Chicago and who wanted Democrat Dennis Kucinich as President, admitted to the artwork, albeit in a different format. During his winter break, history major Firas, using Adobe Photoshop,

turned a Time magazine cover photo of Barack Obama into the nefarious Joker of the Batman series.

Firas then uploaded his work to Flickr (photo-sharing site) to share with friends, back in January. Someone then downloaded the photo, edited out the Time Magazine graphics and added "Socialism" to the mix. Although we can guess what political affiliation the perpetrators of the "socialism" version have, we can't assume so. After all, not all Democrats voted for Obama and many are becoming increasingly disillusioned.

Firas was not thrilled with Obama so he did not vote last November.

"After Obama was elected, you had all of these people who basically saw him as the second coming of Christ," Alkhateeb said. "From my perspective, there wasn't much substance to him."
And though he prefers the Democrats in terms of foreign policy, he admitted he agrees more with Republicans on domestic policy.

So, although he isn't a full-fledged liberal, he is a Democrat. Hopefully people will stop assuming that only conservatives are critical of Obama.

Joke of the day- No Doggy Treats From Obama

A doggy that knows who not to trust. In this particular location, the feeble Trader Joe's employees basically did nothing to deter the idiots from plastering stickers on the food, other than threaten to call the police. At the beginning, they also asked them to stop filming, although they continued to videotape their antics for 6 minutes or so.

Of course, they bandied about the whole Israel is an apartheid state, which is ludicrous, and to which I devoted a whole post to.

I wish I had been there!

WARNING: The video has an annoyance-factor of 10+.

HatTip: WeaselZippers

Obamopoly

In case you haven't seen this one. I apologize for being so remiss, both in blogging and responding to comments, but it has been quite a challenging first half of the year.

I got sick in the spring, and as I progressively got worse I found blogging was the last thing on my mind. Then early June I had to go out of town for a project I had committed to last December. Wasn't sure how it would all turn out, and I didn't know whether I would end up on stage or in the hospital, but thankfully, by the grace of God, 4 visits per week to acupuncturists and the aid of allopathic meds (not that I was thrilled about that) I started to feel better the Friday before we opened. In spite of everything, the show went exceptionally well, with some great reviews.

I have to admit, it was quite lovely not reading about all the horrors in the world for the past few months, but I am on the mend, though not totally out of the woods, yet, and ready to start blogging again.

Blessings to all, and see you in the blogosphere.<div As much as gays have the right to state they should be able to marry, those who oppose the idea have as much right to disagree. This whole issue was thrown into the spotlight by one vicious, nasty little guy called Perez Hilton, who had the gall to ask beauty contestant Miss California, Carrie Prejean, what her beliefs were regarding gay marriage. First of all, what kind of baiting question is that? Second of all, she's entitled to her opinion, whether you agree or not, because this is a free country! Just because someone might not agree with gay marriage, and there are plenty of gay people who don't, does NOT mean one is anti-gay. She probably lost the title because of her answer.

Perez also took it upon himself to try and destroy a Florida photographer who emailed chastising him for the Miss California fiasco, by posting the email on his blog- address, phone number etc. Granted, the photographer's choice of words was very distasteful, but Perez had no right to publish that information.

His website got overloaded and crashed. And his email inbox filled up with hate mail. Someone wanted to burn his home. Someone else wrote about killing him and his family.

So, while people get bent out of shape because there are those who believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, where is the outcry regarding stories regarding the torture and murder of gays in the Middle East? There was a recent story about gay men in Iraq having their anuses glued shut, then being force-fed a liquid that causes diarrhea, which leads to eventual death. Shouldn't they be blogging about that?

Perez Hilton, and the like, are truly pathetic for their spitefulness and lack of priorities!

The Haters Versus Patriots

Thought this was great, from Zack over at Diversity Lane. Both Canadians, L became an American citizen a while back, but both L and P are more patriotic than some born and bred Americans I know. After coordinating at a parking lot, the 3 of us headed over to the main street where there were already hundreds gathered on either side of the main drag. Hard to estimate how many were gathered, but it seemed as if there were more than 1,000 spread along the staging area. Peaceful but enthusiastic, the crowd held a variety of signs and there were people from all ages and all walks of life. It was very heartening to see so many people out there protesting the excesses of government.

Many people tend to think that this was a partisan, conservative movement, but I know there were democrats and independents and republicans out there, sharing the sidewalk.

The TEA Party (taxed enough already) was created in response to a Congress and President who:

vote for a $500 billion tax bill without even reading it?

are spending trillions of borrowed dollars, leaving a debt our great-grandchildren will be paying?

consistently give special interest groups billions of dollars in earmarks to help get themselves re-elected?

want to take your wealth and redistribute it to others?

punish those who practice responsible financial behavior and reward those who do not?

admit to using the financial hurt of millions as an opportunity to push their political agenda?

run up trillions of dollars of debt and then sell that debt to countries such as China?

want government controlled health care?

want to take away the right to vote with a secret ballot in union elections?

refuse to stop the flow of millions of illegal immigrants into our country?

appoint a defender of child pornography to the Number 2 position in the Justice Department?

want to force doctors and other medical workers to perform abortions against their will?

want to impose a carbon tax on your electricity, gas and home heating fuels?

want to reduce your tax detectability for charitable gifts?

take money from your family budget to pay for their federal budget?

For more information here is the official Tea Party Day website. If you want to live your life as you choose, then don't commit a crime!!

Nour Hadid, apparently beat to death Bhia Hadid, her 2-year-old niece. Over a period of 4 days!

"The child had 55 separate bruises and was beaten "from head to toe," according to prosecutors, who say Hadid confessed."

Though the woman confessed, hubby Alaeddin Hadid claims she's innocent and is mad as hell, because police took the booking photo of his wife sans hijab (head scarf), because, yes they happen to be Muslim. Alaeddin has threatened to sue because it happens to be an "insult against our religion. We do not do this in our culture," stating the Orland (Illinois) police are "really going to be in big trouble".

Oh, really? Being deprived of wearing her hijab is against their religion but beating an innocent child to death is not? His concern over his wife's modesty rather than the fact that she used his niece Bhia as a punching bag, is truly sickening. And what was his involvement, one has to wonder? Then again, they do tend to stone people to death, in the name of honor, so perhaps modesty is more important than the sanctity of life.

As for the police photographing her in her tank top, perhaps she should have been wearing a turtle neck under that hijab. And the police were just doing their job. A matron was present during the whole procedure, and the hijab was returned to Nour after the mug shots were taken, although it was then taken back after she threatened suicide. Lots of material is not a good thing with someone who is suicidal.

And why should Nour be treated differently from any other criminal?! Perhaps she should have thought twice about beating a defenseless little girl to death. She's nothing more than a child killer and should be treated as such!

The Al-Taqiyya Of Palestinian Lies- Fatah Refuses To Recognize Israel

I've always believed that it's bad karma to lie, and that fibbing does more harm than good. Besides, in the end, the Truth will always be revealed, so why bother lying in the first place. But Islam actually embraces and encourages dissimulation or what is called "al-Taqiyya"

"Concealing or disguising one's beliefs, convictions, ideas, feelings, opinions, and/or strategies at a time of eminent danger, whether now or later in time, to save oneself from physical and/or mental injury."
In other words, it's okay to lie to achieve your goals. So, it's not surprising, when you see certain Muslim clerics and government leaders talking about peace and moderation to one group of people (i.e. the Western world), and then the opposite to another group (the Arab world). Take Fatah, the supposed moderate faction of the Palestinian people. Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority and Chairman of Fatah, said a while back that a Unity government with Hamas would be predicated upon the recognition of Israel, which Hamas continues to refuse to do. Which, one would assume, means Fatah is willing to recognize Israel, but this is not the case. In a recent television interview, senior Fatah leader, Muhammad Dahlan revealed that Fatah too, will never recognize Israel, and they don't expect Hamas to, either.

"I want to say for the thousandth time, in my own name and in the name of all of my fellow members of the Fatah movement: We do not demand that the Hamas movement recognize Israel. On the contrary, we demand of the Hamas movement not to recognize Israel, because the Fatah movement does not recognize Israel even today."
He went on to admit that although Fatah and Hamas both refuse to recognize Israel, The Palestinian Authority will, but only to legitimize their position in the eyes of the western world in order to receive much needed aid. Under this blatant deception, Hillary Clinton and the U.S. have pledged 900 million dollars, that we don't have, to a people who will simply take the money and run, and continue battering Israel with rockets. The international community having pledged a total of 4.5 billion in relief, once again, has been duped by al-taqiyya.
