Hi! is it possible to make a macro in excel which saves the excel spreadsheet as a unique extension like .TS2 so that the file cannot be opened by excel directly, there would be another macro through which it can only be retreived.

Need to trap CR/LF characters on input to AE pgm from db staging table

Hi all!

I have an AE that is getting input from a database staging table which is populated from an external system. One of the fields is a Char(400) text field which will potentially have CR/LF characters in it. These are causing significant errors, as the AE pgm which processes the data sees the CR/LF and assumes a new record of data has been encountered.

So I find that I need to trap the CR/LF characters and handle them somehow (temporary translation?) to prevent these issues.

I have to import data from a csv file which contains the header as a date. And the body contains the details of the transactions.The footer contains the count of the number of rows processed in transaction. I have to load the header in Table 1 and validate whether the date matches with the system date .And the transactions data in a separate table 2 and the footer into the table 3 and have to validate whether the total count of the transactions matches with the footer . Please help me out.

I am trying to understand how and when a message flows in to operating instance/pub&sub contracts.

Below given steps are based on my understanding. Please correct me if am wrong.
Let say a message published from an application.

Step 1) Message should be in operating instance - PSAPMSGPUBHDR should have a row
2) Once it’s done in operating instance, message either will go to pubcon or subcon- PSAPMSGPUBCON or PSAPMSGSUBCON record should have a row at this time.

I am unable to understand what is the done status denotes in operating instance?

component prebuild question

in self service, I navigate Self Service >>> Degree Progress/Graduation >>> My Academic Requirements

there is no user interruption....but I need to insert into a table before the component pre-build is complete and the page is displayed.
I get no insert/updates allowed in prebuild. I tried to "call app engine".....but get "sql update occured...." error.

Is there a way that I can trick the prebuild.....OR....perform my select/insert PRIOR to the prebuild firing?

PeopleSoft will be sending a row set based messages to third party system and in turn it will be expecting a row set based message as a response. How do we need to handle this?

How do I prevent empty rows being saved to a record when a page is saved?

I thought there was a check box somewhere in Application Designer that would prevent records being saved where there was no data in non-key fields.
Am I correct or will I need to use Peoplecode to check if those fields are empty and if they are then delete that row?
