CCC's "Unity in the Community" held Sept. 26th in Lincoln Park was a huge success. More than 60 citizens from all over Rock Island and Moline attended, which demonsrated that citizens realize they are stakeholders in their community.

Rock Island Police Chief John Wright, who was trained to use a backhoe, demolished the Lee home at 705 9th Avenue Monday morning. After years of drug dealing and other incidents, neighbors along with law enforcement said "enough is enough".

CCC to Host PTCC Language Exploratory Committee Meeting

Community Caring Conference will be host to the Rock Island Center for Math and Science Parent Teacher Community Connection's first Language Exploratory Committee meeting. The meeting will be held at 1:00PM September 5th and is open to all parents and guardians of students attending the Rock Island Center for Math and Science.

Neighborhood USA

The organizational mission of NUSA has, since its inception in 1975, has been to build and strengthen neighborhood associations and to promote productive communications and collaborations between those associations and both the public and private sectors. The organization has, for over thirty years, served these broad objectives in part through the conduct of an annual conference. This provides an opportunity for people from all locations, sectors and levels of society to discuss the pressing issues of the times, share experiences and offer encouragement or assistance.

This year over four hundred people from twenty-five states plus new NUSA members from Japan attended the Neighborhood USA event that was held in Spokane, Washington.

Community Caring Conference Summer Club youth participated in swimming lessons this summer at the Rock Island Fitness Center. Lessons were sponsored by the Rock Island Milan School District and Rock Island Parks and Recreation.

More Than 150 People Attended Celebrate Longview

More than 150 people attended the 6th annual Longview Celebration and Resource Fair that is known for its musical chairs giveaways for adults, teens, and children vying for grocery bags and school supplies all in good fun. There was also plenty of vendors on hand to distribute information and give away various goodies. The event is sponsored by the Longview Coalition and Community Caring Conference.

Night Out Against Crime

How to beat criminals!

One way to gain strength in numbers is by joining neighbors at our annual Night Out Against Crime 4-7 p.m. Monday Aug. 3rd at Longview Park. Since Tuesday is the first full day of school in Rock Island, we are hoping for a big turnout the night before.

We will meet at the upper shelter along 18th Avenue with games, police demonstrations, and plenty of information on how to live in a cleaner, safer neighborhood. You will also hear the (somewhat funny) story of how a grandmother finally beat the bad, noisy neighbors. Oh, and Free food and drinks will be available as well.
