some of those fees are ridiculous. My son got in over his head becasue of them. For a very small overdraft of less than $10.00 and only for a few hours he ends up paying $43 that he doesn't have.

I am a t-mobile customer, have been for years and in general I have been happy. I got one of those 9.99 third party charges and had it removed from my bill. A month later I got another. I learned how to block my phone so the third parties can't put these charges on my bill. There ought to be a law. I can't believe that someone can send a text message and even it the receiver doesn't open it they can charge 9.99 a month for a service that was never ordered, asked for or wanted. . . now I look at my phone bill each month.

I had made payments through MB for a $3600 debt from 8 yrs ago. I now have no clue who to contact to find out where it's been sent. No one has sent me any notice via mail re: the amount owed.
Any advice on how to find out where my debt is?

As I said, you would have proof that you served the answer, along with a copy of the answer, that you could show the court to prove you are not in default.

Maybe I'm missing something. How does the court know you properly answered the complaint? Won't the plantiff just file their summons and complaint along with proof that you were served and ask for a default judgment? What stops them from getting a default judgment if only the plantiff and I have copies of my answer?

You do not need to pay a filing fee unless you are filing something.

If you answer properly, you will have executed an affidavit or certificate of service, which will show the day you served the answer. That should be sufficient to prevent a default judgment, if you did encounter a particularly unscrupulous debt collector.

Great info on pocket service. Is the person who is served required to pay a filing fee to "answer" the summons if the complaint has not been filled yet? If not, what stops them from saying you never answered and then getting a default judgment?

You have to contact your creditor. I had 2 bank of america accounts with MB and both accounts was settle and the payment was took from MB. However, they didn't report to credit breua that my accounts was settle by the full balance. So I called the BofA and the account manager told me to fax everything including the settlement letters from MB to investigate. I'm still waiting the result. MB is the messed. Does anyone have the same problem or same situation here?

Thankyou for posting this information. There are a lot of problems in the debt collection industry resulting from unethical debt collection practices. I think this information empowers consumers.

I had an account with Mann Bracken for my FIA/Bank of America account.
Yesterday I received a letter from the Stillman Law Offices located in West Bloomfield MI, stating that the matter has been recalled from Mann Bracken from the creditor and not to send any future payments to Mann Bracken. Stillman states for me to call them to reset any such arrangement that I had with Mann Bracken. I called Credit Solutions (they are handling my case) and they are trying to reach a settlement with them on my behalf.
